A tag has been placed on Eduardo White, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. -FisherQueen (Talk) 01:37, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm a native speaker of English. I found your page looking through some articles related to Portuguese language. You contributed to Angolan Portuguese. I'm really interested in learning Portuguese (and Spanish also). If you put a watch on my user page, Wikipedia automatically watched my talk page. When you create new categories, you should ensure that they match the existing conventions of their parent categories. I have nominated the above category for speedy renaming to Category:Japanese people of Mexican descent per the convention of Category:Japanese people by ethnic or national origin, which was established by discussion at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2007 September 5#Category:American Japanese people and because the term "Mexican Japanese" is never seen in reliable sources for referring to Mexicans in Japan, only for general cooperation between the governments or corporations in Mexico and Japan (Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL). Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Category:German Mozambicans, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Category:German Mozambicans has been empty for at least four days, and its only content has been links to parent categories. (CSD C1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Category:German Mozambicans, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Proposed deletion of Spanish-New Zealanders

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Spanish-New Zealanders, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently copied the contents of a page and pasted it into another with a different name. This is what we call a "cut and paste move", and it is very undesirable because it splits the article's history, which is needed for attribution and is helpful in many other ways. The mechanism we use for renaming an article is to move it to a new name which both preserves the page's history and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. In most cases, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. If there is an article that you cannot move yourself by this process, follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Requested moves to request the move by another. Also, if there are any other articles that you copied and pasted, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. Hi

[edit]

Welcome! I noticed that your Username shows up red when you post an edit -- in case you were wondering why, this is because your userpage is devoid of content. If you were to place anything at all on your userpage (text, photographs, etc.), your username would then appear blue by default. By convention, most serious contributing editors place information about themselves on their userpages, and as a result, editors whose usernames are still red may appear to other editors as lacking a serious motivation in both editing Wikipedia articles as well as joining the Wikipedia community at large. I therefore recommend that you place something on your userpage, such as information as to where you live or what your hobbies are. You can check out other editors' userpages to get an idea of what is normally included (find them easiest by checking the history tab on randomly chosen yet substantial articles), and even copy/paste from their userpages (modifying the information to reflect your's, of course). Even the manner in which your name appears may tell a little bit about your character and personal style (if the default blue is not your cup of tea, you can copy/paste a username format from another editors' post, and put that information into my preferences at the top of your page after you sign in, modifying it, of course, to include your usename.) This may help you feel like you're more engaged and integrated into the culture of Wikipedia. Please contact me if you'd like any more advice. :) DRosenbach (Talk | Contribs) 02:31, 19 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits to Koreans in Peru

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, adding content without citing a reliable source is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources, please take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you.

You have created a bunch of completely unsourced pages about human migration throughout the former Spanish and Portuguese colonies; this is not particularly helpful, especially since it means responsible users have to go do the hard work of fact checking and looking for sources for every single thing you write (much of which turns out to be wrong or at least unverifiable). cab (talk) 10:02, 27 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Even more of your unsourced articles

[edit]

Please do not add unsourced or original content. Doing so violates Wikipedia's verifiability policy. If you continue to do so, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Once again, unsourced articles are not welcome on Wikipedia, especially your unsourced articles on human migration which repeatedly prove to be full of incorrect guesses and outright falsehoods about the origin, numbers, and characteristics of the immigrants in question. cab (talk) 15:05, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Final warning about creation of unsourced articles

[edit]

This is the last warning you will receive for your disruptive edits, such as those you made to Iranian Spaniards. If you vandalize Wikipedia again, you will be blocked from editing.

You offer absolutely no sources to confirm any statement you made in this article:

  • That this group of people are called "Iranian Spaniards" by any reliable source anywhere (let alone most of them)
  • That their population is 50,000 (the actual population figure I found was 4% of this number)
  • That there are significant numbers of them who follow Islam, Christianity, and Bahai faith
  • That a significant number live in Madrid. Did you just make this up because many immigrants to Spain live in Madrid?
  • That a significant number live in Barcelona. Did you just make this up because many immigrants to Spain live in Barcelona?

Do not create any further unsourced article, especially on topics which fail to meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines. cab (talk) 13:59, 4 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Hispanos has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The term "Hispanos" seems to be rarely used in scholarship dealing with the population this article is about - and from what I can tell none of the sources this article cites establish notability. The Census citation's link no longer works, but from what I can tell the US Census Bureau does not recognize "Hispano" or anything similar as a cohesive ancestry or ethnic group (a code list from 2010, pages 295-296, I've found doesn't use the term at all). "The Spanish Surname Criterion" defines "Hispano" as equivalent to the modern category "Hispanic and Latino Americans" - although the "native Spanish Americans" it mentions seem to be the descendants of Spanish-speaking settlers in the Southwest this article claims to describe. The two sources with archived links are both about Hispanos of New Mexico specifically, and the Alexander B. King source is just about historical Californios. So, none of this article's sources actually establish that the term "Hispanos" is widely used to refer to the descendants of early Spanish and Mexican settlers in the American Southwest as a whole.

Additionally, this article's exact scope is unclear. The lead sentence mentions "independent Mexico" but the article also mentions Louisiana Isleños.

Speaking of scope, I'm not sure the article's subject, descendants of Spanish-speaking inhabitants of the territories Mexico ceded to the US in 1848, actually do constitute a meaningful ethnic or cultural group - the sources cited don't establish this.

It's also noteworthy that several people in this article's talk page have previously objected to its existence and that most of the article's content is unsourced.
