Sunday May 21, 10:30 am - 4:30pm: Metropolitan Museum of Art Edit-a-thon

The Metropolitan Museum of Art Edit-a-thon: Met Open Access Initiative is the Metropolitan Museum of Art's first edit-a-thon, being hosted on Sunday May 21, 2017 in Thomas J. Watson Library at The Met Fifth Avenue in New York City.

The Met is excited to make available over 375,000 images of public domain artworks for contribution to Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons from the museum’s collection spanning 5,000 years of art. The event is an opportunity for Wikimedia communities to engage The Met's diverse collection onsite and remotely. The event is a key marker too of The Metropolitan Museum of Art's first Wikimedian-in-Residence program, with resident Richard Knipel (User:Pharos), along with Wikimedia NYC. We invite you to help enhance Wikimedia communities and platforms with open access images from The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The event requires pre-registration. To register, 1) please sign-up with Eventbrite via The Met's website and 2) add your Wikipedia username to the #Participants on the wikimeetup page. Please check-in with museum staff when you arrive at the Thomas J. Watson Library within the museum.

We also welcome remote participation for the global Met Open Access Artworks Challenge (15 May - 30 June, 2017), you can sign up there at Met Open Access Artworks Challenge/Participants. --Pharos (talk) 16:24, 16 May 2017 (UTC)

AfD Relist

Hello there! I was just wondering why the AfD here was relisted for further discussion. The editors who commented all showed a clear consensus to keep and the sources shown were unquestionably enough to pass WP:GNG, whole books have been written about him. Is this not enough to disprove the nom's rationale, given that wikipedia is a discussion and not a vote? TheMagikCow (T) (C) 16:21, 18 May 2017 (UTC)

 • Hello Captain. I came here coincidentally for the same issue raised by TheMagikCow. I noticed your mistaken edits on Afds have been questioned in the recent past by editors like LibStar, Gene93k, Bearcat, Anmccaff, Yash!, Kurykh, Garchy and perhaps others too. May I request you to undo your re-list immediately and allow an experienced editor to assess the Afd? May I also request you to stop re-listing Afds until you grasp how to assess !votes? I would rather an experienced editor or administrator assesses such cases (where the Afd could have been closed as a keep rather than getting re-listed again). As you seem to have not replied to Magik's message, may I additionally request you to please reply here and acknowledge that you've understood the situation. Thanks. Lourdes 00:02, 19 May 2017 (UTC)
agree, Captain, I think you need to step back from relisting. LibStar (talk) 00:47, 19 May 2017 (UTC)
Lourdes, I understood everything.I've added a relisting template after seven days.Even then some of my mistakes were wrong.I remember my old messages about relisting.I did not ignore the old about relisting message.Next time I will not be wrong to tagging afd relisting template.I realized my mistake.I'll refrain from relisting tagging for some days. And fully stop tagging afD relist template.Thanks.CAPTAIN RAJU (✉) 02:54, 19 May 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for the considered response. Lourdes 03:24, 19 May 2017 (UTC)

Reverting edit at the sandbox

Hi, you recently cleaned the sandbox by reverting an edit. Since it was my edit, I got a number of notifications for no good reason. There's no need to clear the sandbox manually as Cyberbot I does it automatically, and if you ever do want to, just make a normal edit and delete the old content by hand. Best wishes, User:GKFXtalk 20:22, 20 May 2017 (UTC)

New Page Review - Newsletter No.4

Hello CAPTAIN RAJU,

Since rolling out the right in November, just 6 months ago, we now have 804 reviewers, but the backlog is still mysteriously growing fast. If every reviewer did just 55 reviews, the 22,000 backlog would be gone, in a flash, schwoop, just like that!

But do remember: Rather than speed, quality and depth of patrolling and the use of correct CSD criteria are essential to good reviewing. Do not over-tag. Make use of the message feature to let the creator know about your maintenance tags. See the tutorial again HERE. Get help HERE.

Stay up to date with recent new page developments and have your say, read THIS PAGE.

Deletion sorting (May 2017)

Hello, Captain Raju. I noticed that some of your deletion sorting has resulted in "oversorting". In particular, the instructions at WP:WikiProject Deletion sorting/People state that no biography should be placed in that category if it can be placed in one or more of the many occupation-specific categories (e.g., authors, politicians, musicians, etc.). A similar situation exists with the "United States of America" category. Although the deletion sorting page for that category doesn't contain a specific instruction, the sorting algorithm itself will not place any deletion discussion on the "United States of America" page if it is also sorted into one of the categories for the individual states. In both cases, the sorting mechanism works better if these "oversortings" are not done. Thank you for your attention to this matter. NewYorkActuary (talk) 21:20, 21 May 2017 (UTC)

Hi NewYorkActuary,I understood your advice. I saw your solution.many many thanks for a solution.I'll keep this my mind in the next time taging deletion sorting categories Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/People.Thanks.CAPTAIN RAJU (✉) 11:38, 22 May 2017 (UTC)

Hello; gentle request

Hello Cap. Hope you're doing well. Dropped in to request you. Your signature is messing up the Afd stats script; for example, as experienced by ONUnicorn in Afds like Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Redwall and L3X1 in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Feras Bugnah and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Lisa Batey (2nd nomination). In fact, in all the Afds that you are relisting or categorizing, the user who !votes after your signature has his/her !vote disregarded by the Afd script. Basically, you need to change your current signature in Special:Preferences to the following.

<span style="text-shadow:#00FFFF ;font-family:Vladimir Script;0.2em 0.2em 0.2em"><font color="#008080">CAPTAIN RAJU</font> <font color="#FF0000"> (✉)</font></span>

The output would be CAPTAIN RAJU (✉) (the output is the same as your current signature, but is coded differently to ensure it doesn't mess up the Afd script).

Hope you don't mind this. Thanks for understanding. Cheers. Lourdes 16:23, 25 May 2017 (UTC)

Hi,Lourdes Thank you for giving messege.I've changed my signature.See below my signature.

<em style="font-family:Bradley Hand ITC;color:green">CAPTAIN</em> <em style="font-family:Bradley Hand ITC;color:Maroon">RAJU</em> (T/C) ---CAPTAIN RAJU (T/C) 19:26, 25 May 2017 (UTC)

Now ok my signature? CAPTAIN RAJU (T/C) 19:26, 25 May 2017 (UTC)

I did not mind anything.Thanks again.CAPTAIN RAJU (T/C) 19:26, 25 May 2017 (UTC)

 • Hi Cap, your innovated fresh signature is not ok. Even that is messing up the script. I would request you to not innovate on your own and use the below mentioned code cut to cut without changing anything.

<em style="font-family:Bradley Hand ITC;color:green">CAPTAIN</em> <em style="font-family:Bradley Hand ITC;color:Maroon">RAJU</em> (T/C)

As before, the output you will get is CAPTAIN RAJU (T/C), which is the same as your new signature.

In the future, in case you are changing your signature, please either leave a note on my talk page or leave a note at WP:VPT explaining the situation and giving a link to this discussion. Please leave a reply here acknowledging the change; would be grateful for that. Thanks again for understanding. Lourdes 01:11, 26 May 2017 (UTC)

 • Hello cap. I noticed that after my request here, you've continued delsorting at Afd using the old signature (for example at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jinnah Public School and a host of other Afds) which would mess up subsequent !votes being registered by the Afd script. Cap, could you please consider changing the markup of your signature to what I've given right above this post? And can you please reply and acknowledge you've done the same? If you cannot adopt the signature markup I've given you above, I'll take this issue up with my fellow editors at WP:ANI. Please do acknowledge. Thanks. Lourdes 01:41, 27 May 2017 (UTC)
I've changed my signature again.See here my new signature. <font face="Bradley Hand ITC">CAPTAIN RAJU</font><sup>(T)</sup>= CAPTAIN RAJU(T) 18:40, 27 May 2017 (UTC)
I think my signature is okay now.CAPTAIN RAJU(T) 18:40, 27 May 2017 (UTC)

AfD again

Sorry to post yet another thread about AfD, but you have been continually relisting nomination-only AfDs, (with no !votes apart from the nominator) and admins can enact WP:SOFTDELETE upon the articles affected. Admins at AfD normally relist these, and I am personally not a fan of that guideline, but Juliancolton sent a similar message to me so that's why I posted this. J947(c) 02:44, 27 May 2017 (UTC)

Please undo your revert of United States v. Baker

Hello CAPTAIN RAJU. Although I appreciate the work you provide Wiki to prevent vandalism, please undo your revert of United States v. Baker and redo my edits. That article has an incorrect title. The correct title is United States v. Alkhabaz per the courts. (See https://scholar.google.com/scholar_case?case=15452781282069577866). I have requested moving that article to the correct name using the Wikipedia:Requested moves process and my request already received support. I believe the bot you used recognized the name changes I edited and those edits did not align with the article title, so this is why my edits were reverted. However, my edits were consistent with the court documents and legal conventions. (FYI: I was making the change because I was cleaning up several cases yesterday and noticed the issue on that article. I have no opinion of the case and do not know anyone involved in this case.)

Thank you again for your work to improve Wikipedia, but please reincorporate my edits into that article. chipermc (talk) 17:31, 29 May 2017 (UTC)

Let's wait until the RM concludes. Just because the request received support (including from me) doesn't mean that's where it will end up. More comments at User talk:chipermc. TJRC (talk) 22:39, 30 May 2017 (UTC)

Just letting you know I have undone your addition of this AFD to the list of U.S.A. related deletion discussions. It was already in the Alaska-specific list, and the airline does not operate in any other state, so that wasn't really helpful. I feel like there is a tendency lately (not just you but a growing trend) to go a little overboard adding every AFD to a whole pile of delsort lists. If an AFD is already listed in two or three relvant categories, there is litle benefit in trying to shoehorn it into two or three more. Beeblebrox (talk) 20:19, 30 May 2017 (UTC)

Elvis Changes

Hi

Being an Elvis fan,

I believe others should know who plays rhythm guitar or lead guitar on these albums.

If I am not making these changes, I would at least like you to consider making the edits yourself.
