You replied to my edit on Keith Haring's page. I actually think that comment is very constructive. Keith Harring should be referred to as a gay artist and activist because his work focused on gay issues, namely HIV/AIDS and sexual themes. The more innocuous work has subsequently been licensed for use on clothing and luggage, etc. but his intent at the time he was an activist street-artist creating visibility for an invisible community. It was a critical part of his identity and it deserves to be represented in the opening.

For db-banned I expect that the creator is already blocked, or listed at SPI, or some other evidence is supplied. Wikipedia:WPCleaner edits in user space

Hi CAPTAIN RAJU,

Could you please stop making edits like this: [1] in user space (you first came to my attention when you did something similar on my talk page a few months ago. In article space, I can grudgingly see why someone might want to make those two edits - grudgingly - although it is generally accepted that edits that make zero difference to the reader shouldn't be made automatically or semi-automatically by themselves. But it is worse than useless in user space, and is annoying too. You are referencing WP:WCW in your edit summary, but that project is intended to be about "checking" article space. Edits that actually fix something - like html code fixes or something - seem marginally acceptable even in user space (I will assume that's what was happening here], although I don't know html so I can't be sure). But please discontinue edits to people's user pages that aren't actually fixing something that is clearly broken. --Floquenbeam (talk) 22:44, 4 January 2017 (UTC)

Hi! Am not sure if you have notice it or not, but the annual editing competition Wikipedia:WikiCup has started and the signup is open till 5 February 2017. Hello, Atle Bakken joined Jone Eberson group in 1980 and then he was 19 years old. It is impossible to be born 1970 and to play on the album JIVE TALKIN being 11 years old!!! Have some fun with life don't take things so seriously The things i did for Bush did Harambe were good hearted fun, and i was trying to make some people smile, sorry if that made you mad, but banning me from Wikipedia was too far man. i never did anything violent, racist, sexist, or discriminating, so there is no reason to ban me. Simply I am asking you to unban the ip address that i used because it is not mine, i was only using it while i made the account. if you could do that i don't care if the account that i use is banned, but this ip adress is a public one and it was not mine to have banned. please.

Reporting usernames with no edits

I notice you have been making a lot of reports at UAA. Overall, your reports are great and I encourge you to keep doing what you are doing, with one exception: usernames with no edits whatsoever. Per WP:UAAI :"Wait until the user edits. Do not report a user that hasn't edited unless they are clearly a vandal. We do not want to welcome productive editors with a report at UAA, nor do we want to waste our time dealing with accounts that may never be used." The exceptions are obvious hate speech or names that attack a living person/Wikipedia editor, those are blockable even without any edits, but run-of-the-mill WP:CORPNAME violations need not be reported unless and until they at least attempt to edit.

For whatever reason, every day dozens, if not hundreds of accounts are created that never make one single edit. It is our reposnibility as admins to conscientiously review every report a user makes at UAA, so we have to check for contribs, deleted contribs, and tripping of the edit filter for every one of these reports, only to find out there's nothing there and therefore no problem to be solved. So we add the {{wait}} tag to the report, it goes to WP:UAA/HP for a week or more, and must then be reviewed again to see if the account has since become active before removing it. That's time that could be spent doing more productive things, but you basically obligate admins to do it by making such reports.

Let me repeat: the majority of your reports are helpful and appreciated. I have blocked a number of violations that you have brought to UAA and encourage you to keep up the good work, just skip the ones with no edits. Thanks. Beeblebrox (talk) 21:32, 13 January 2017 (UTC)

Naschy's Return of the Werewolf

According to the information on the wiki page, in the information box on the right, it clearly states the film was released in 1980, yet the text refers to it as 1981. Obviously a careless error.   • video2commons was down for two weeks. This was because of a problem with Commons video transcoders. It is now back up. [8]

Changes this week

  • There is a new magic word called {{PAGELANGUAGE}}. It returns the language of the page you are at. This can be used on wikis with more than one language to make it easier for translators. [9]
  • When an admin blocks a user or deletes or protects a page they give a reason why. They can now get suggestions when they write. The suggestions will be based on the messages in the dropdown menu. [10]
  • You will be able to use <chem> to write chemical formulas. Before you could use <ce>. <ce> should be replaced by <chem>. [11]
  • You now can add exceptions for categories which shouldn't be shown on Special:UncategorizedCategories. The list is at MediaWiki:Uncategorized-categories-exceptionlist. [12]
  • The "Columns" and "Rows" settings will be removed from the Editing tab in Preferences. If you wish to keep what the "Rows" setting did you can add this code to your personal CSS: #wpTextbox1 { height: 50em; } You can change the number 50 to make it look like you want to. [13]
  • Sometimes edits in MediaWiki by mistake are shown coming from private IP addresses such as 127.0.0.1. Edits and other contributions logged to these IP addresses will be blocked and shown the reason from MediaWiki:Softblockrangesreason. This should not affect most users. Bots and other tools running on Wikimedia Labs, including Tool Labs will receive a "blocked" error if they try to edit without being logged in. [14]
  • When you edit with the visual editor categories will be on the top of the page options menu. [15]
  • The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 17 January. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 18 January. It will be on all wikis from 19 January (calendar).
