Tulu Nad
[edit]Sir, Tulu nadu was a part of Kerala which stretched for Kanyakumary to Gokarna. Ofcourse Im not speaking about the present Kearala state. Kanyakumari is in Tamilnad and Gokarna is in Karnataka today. I'm speaking about the Kerala mentioned in many Purana's as "Parasurama Kshetra." Though it is mythology there is fossil evidence to prove that this land is formed at the same time.
- One more thing is Tulu and Malayalam have same script.

Divya
[edit]Please note that people with the name Divya should be listed on Divya (name), not on Divya, which is a disambiguation page. Most of the names you are trying to add are already there, by the way. Please be more careful when making edits and do not delete valid entries. Civility
[edit]Hi, I noticed you sometimes use impolite language when discussing articles with other editors. Please remember that civility and refraining from personal attacks are core policies on Wikipedia. We don't want to scare editors away by personally attacking them. Thanks. Copana2002 (talk) 21:49, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

Hi and welcome
[edit]I noticed over the last few months that you have been trying to do some useful work on Karnataka related articles. Welcome and I hope you make many useful contributions. I also noticed a conflict of opinion between you and some IP's on pages like Tuluva, Kannadiga, etc. I would recommend that you dont bother getting into arguements with IP's because it serves you no good, nor does it resolve the issue. The very fact someone has not bothered to log in shows he/they are either drive-by editor(s) or dont-care editors. Your time and energy are better served when you focus on article creation. Have you though about writing Karnataka related DYK articles?. You can start from really small ones, like Vachana poets Siddharama, Chennabasava etc. As you noticed, I just completed a FA on Kannada literature in the Western Chalukya Empire, an article which has significant info on Veerashaiva poets. You articles can serve as useful wikilink articles for depth. If you have other ideas on what to write about, feel free to do so, an I can extend any help you want. There was a time when we had 3-4 Karnataka related DYK's per week, but that has dried out after user:Amarrg go busy with other things. ThanksDineshkannambadi (talk) 15:35, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

ok Keep it
[edit]OK...U may keep the Kannada name...But give priority to Malayalam...Why???? Bcos in Karnataka Kannada language is forced on non-Kannada people....We dont do it in our state....We encourage other languages too...We provide Kannada education to Kannadigas....We dont force Malayalam on them...So u still see Kannada in Kasaragod....
We are not Language fundamentalistic people.....I hope u are not one....Any way nice of knowing u...Lets be friends...Bye....
Ok man...I will say....I do not have any enemity towards Kannadigas...Its just that official language is enough for the name tag of Kasaragod...This is just the thing that happened in Mangalore page....Unlike Kasaragod , this city has got many names like kudla(Tulu), Kodial(Konkani), manglooru(Kannada), Maikala(Beary) and Mangalapuram(Malayalam).....Whwn we said to include these names, the kannadiga wikipedians opposed it and they just deleted the mangalapuram name of Mangalore which along with other names was put up on the article.....Konkani name of Mangalore written in Devanagari script was also deleted....But they wanted kannada name for Kasaragod to be intact, which we did not allow........You can see the dispute in the mangalore discuss page...
So there is nothing with u or all the Kannada people...We just reached on a pact...thats all....
ARUNKUMAR P.R (talk · contribs) 12:37, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
Well they wiped all the evidence...Yes mangalore is called as Mangalapuram by Malayalees....It should be noted that Tulunaadu had ancient connections with Kerala...Mangalapuram was one of the earliest names of Mangalore along with manjarur and Kudla(Tulu)....A princess from Kerala was abducted by the prince of Tulunaadu and the princess died ....On her name was the famous temple of mangaladevi constructed...It is from this temple that all the name of mangalore originated(Mangalooru, Mangalapuram, Manjarur etc..) except for Kudla(Tulu), which seems to be the most ancient name for the city as Tulu people are the local people...

You can check the categories from talk page also. There are a lot of articles already marked this way, Satish Dhawan was not the only one.--GDibyendu (talk) 14:53, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
- Check this category Category:India articles using field parameter.--GDibyendu (talk) 14:54, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
- Basically, the idea behind using the field parameter is to collect articles for possible (but non-existent now) workgroups like WP India School, WP India Science etc. After the introduction of this parameter one such workgroup was formed: 'Music'.--GDibyendu (talk) 15:02, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
- No problem, now you know, so probably you can also add it wherever it seems appropriate.--GDibyendu (talk) 15:05, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

Bhimsen Joshi
[edit]Hello, have observed that you delete the Marathi name on the page each and every time. I have initiated a discussion for this on that page. But instead of debating, you just delete it. This is not right. And your recent comment says that only native labguage allowed. This is not correct. Go and check all over wiki and you will find so many pages bearing names in many languages. For eg Rajanikanth. It is generally the practice to write name in the language in which the person has made contribution along with the language of region where he was born. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nachiketdeo (talk • contribs) 17:09, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
- regarding rajnikanth article those 3 scripts are added based on consensus. see the past discussion there. C21Ktalk 23:33, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
Read the discussion properly on rajnikanth page... it says "The language scripts of their mother tongue and their main career industry is only displayed.". I have just done the same thing... I feel both of us have better ways to pass our time than coming on this page everyday and writing/removing name in Marathi. Dont just tell me to read the discussion there...read carefully what it says. Rajnikanth, Bhimsen are the rarest of the people who have made huge contributions to the language other than there mother tongue and that has to be taken into account. Other similarity being the place where they live. Rajnikanth lives in Chennai not Maharashtra and similarly Bhimsenji has spent most of his life in Pune, not Karnataka. I am ready to discuss the issue with you... And if it were only a few songs in Marathi, I would not have done this. His contribution to Marathi sangeet is huge. See also Kishor Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Adi Shankara for the same type of example. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.242.65.34 (talk) 05:54, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

Hi. Kanaka Dasa is from Bada village in Haveri district. Normally, a person is said to be "from a certian place" if he is born there or spent a significant amount of life there. Kanaka Dasa was no doubt devoted to the Krishna of Udupi, but like other Haridasas was always on the move. Puranadara Dasa was devoted to Vittala of Pandharpur, which does not make him a "person from Pandharpur". Regrads,Dineshkannambadi (talk) 01:31, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

I noticed you applied a speedy deletion tempalte to this article, saying it was unenecyclopedic. That is not a criteria for speedy deletion, and the article isn't unenecylopedic. I can imagine it becoming FA. It's badly written, sure, and I have moved it to a btter name, but it shouldn't be deleted. If you still think it should be deleted take it to articles for deletion, though I strongly advice against this.--Pattont/c 20:46, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
- In Wikipedia we don't have articles like "Similarities btw X & Y languages". the article lists only few words, but there are more than thousand words which is similar in both languages. this is because both Tamil & Kannada evolved from Proto Dravidian language.
taking to AFD is no use, the result of the discussion will be either keep or no consensus.
anyhow, there is already an article Tamil-Kannada languages. C21Ktalk 23:19, 6 March 2009 (UTC)- So basically, "I think articles like this should be deleted, but if I took it to AfD noone would agree with me"? Fine. Fair does
[edit]Righto - you should be able to move it (I'm in an area with a shitty connection) - if not, contact an admin, since I wouldn't be able to move it either. Ironholds (talk) 12:26, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

Images on Kannadiga article
[edit]Hello C21 K. Regarding this edit, the Images clearly don't satisfy Fair use policies. As per Wikipedia:Non-free content# 3a (Minimal usage. Multiple items of non-free content are not used if one item can convey equivalent significant information.). In this case, the six images can convey the same information, as the 9 Images. Hence, the 3 Copyrighted Images are not required. It's a rule, anyway, that infoboxes should never have copyrighted images under any circumstances. You can contact any administrator if you feel this is wrong. You will hear the same. Thanks, KensplanetTC 06:46, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
- That way, you can find 1000s of images of non-living Kannada personalities on the NET. That doesn't mean you can add all of them. You can also check (reputed administrator) Yellowmonkey's response on my talkpage, or better contact him. Thanks, KensplanetTC 06:56, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
Sarangsaras Sockpuppetry
[edit]User:Redvers is asking for any diffs you have in back up the sockpuppetry claim. They would like to look into it, but you didn't give them anything to look at. If you could add them to the ANI thread ongoing, it would be appreciated. - NeutralHomer • Talk • 07:11, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
