Curious
[edit]I came to the Chaminade page to add a judge who was an alumnus, have no other earlier connection to the page or the school, but as usual am interested in the page now, as it develops.
I was curious why you deleted some of the references to items I'd worked some on or been interested in: the Peter Pace event, the gender discrimination occasion, earlier in the month at this page. Both items are still in the article, just have no source now. That seems to run counter to the Wikipedia intent. Swliv (talk) 23:01, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
Response: The Peter Pace incident was not eliminated, just re-worked to provide greater clarity. Other topics, including the academic program, gender discrimination case, and athletic accomplishments were edited so that the article does not become overly long or lose focus; the focus should be on the school itself and its academic achievements. The only items that I would eliminate are those that are totally false, such as bogus alumni.
School article guidelines
[edit]Hi! From the above comment, it sounds like you edit Chaminade High School with some regularity. You should probably take a look at both the Manual of Style and the school article guidelines. The MOS will tell you that titles (Mr, Mrs, Etc) are not to be used unless there is some ambiguity in the person's name (e.g. Francis for a first name, as that can be either male or female). Among other things, the school article guidelines will tell you that you have too much trivial information in several places, notably athletics. The athletics section should contain a listing of sports offered and mention of any teams (teams only, no individuals) that have won championships at the state or national level only. conference championships should not be mentioned. Information like championships should have an appropriate reference.
In addition, the first section should just be a summary of the rest of the article, akin to the lede in a newspaper article. This school's page is generally pretty good. With a rewrite of the introduction and the athletic section and a few more references, it could easily be one of the best school articles on Wikipedia.
If you would like to collaborate on raising this article up in quality, I would be honored to work with you. Gtwfan52 (talk) 14:58, 20 September 2012 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, I'm John from Idegon. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Chaminade High School, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. please see the comment from gtwfan52 above John from Idegon (talk) 20:17, 15 January 2014 (UTC)
John - for Chaminade High School edits that of mine that you reversed on 16 January 2014, you indicate that a source should be referenced other than the school. My question is this: where else would one obtain data regarding tuition, size of student body, etc. except from the school? It would be like asking Yale University to provide the tuition and enrollment for Harvard. No one questioned the prior statistical edits to Chaminade High School, which are clearly erroneous, so why would mine be questioned? Thanks,

- Non controversial info like you mentioned is fine to be sourced to the school. Test scores are not. BTW, if you have an association with school like your username indicates you need to declare that per WP:COI. John from Idegon (talk) 15:41, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
