Vancouver Courier
I saw you in the The Wiki Way article on the front page of the Vancouver Courier. What do you think of the article? Mkdwtalk 21:58, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
- Reporters will always try and sell something people can relate to, i.e. Lindsey Lohan. Knowing the past articles the Courier has written about Wikipedia, I thought this was rather a different and more positive direction in oppinion of the site. Mkdwtalk 18:46, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
Re: Anaheim Ducks infobox colors
Ahh, I see. Sorry about that, I wasn't aware. That's a little odd that they wouldn't have more orange in their logo if it's one of their main colors. Perhaps it's mostly because it is cheaper/easier to make orange merchandise than it is to make bronze? Anyway, like I said, sorry. Thanks for informing me about it, though. BsroiaadnTalk 18:49, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
- Oh really? I just learned something. Haha. So you guys don't like the fact that there isn't orange on the jerseys? Is the Ducks management (or whoever controls what the jerseys and such look like) aware of this and they just ignore it? BsroiaadnTalk 00:06, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
- Oh yea, I see the orange lines now...don't know how I ever missed it. That would be cool if they actually listened to the fans. The problem with rumors, though...they usually aren't true....not saying it won't happen, but it's just a rumor. Just like there's a rumor that Scott Gomez (one of the New Jersey Devils top players) will return to the Devils next season and accept less money for returning...which is obvious that it's not true. If the Devil's could clear some cap room it might work, but they probably won't be able to...Martin Brodeur and Patrik Elias get paid A LOT, so..yea...oh well. Kinda reminds me of the rumor that Scott Niedermayer was gonna come back to the Devils after only playing a single season with the Ducks (obviously this was when it was only his first season on the Ducks), but that never happened. Hope you guys (as in the Ducks) get the cup, by the way. I missed the first two games so I don't know how close the playing was even though the Ducks are leading the series, but good luck anyway. BsroiaadnTalk 04:24, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
- Well that's good that they listen, all owners should do that even though most don't. Hmmmmm...I'll have to see if I can find a place to watch them online. I'm pretty sure it'll be two weeks before google video puts them on. BsroiaadnTalk 01:44, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks, but see the thing is I don't miss it because I can't watch it on TV, it's that I'm usually busy when the games are on so I don't have a chance to watch them, ya know? How close was the last game (I missed that one as well)? BsroiaadnTalk 16:55, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
- As a Devils fan, double standards is something I am unfortunately aware of. The Devils get penalties that weren't penalties called on them while the other team can get away with a lot (don't get me wrong, the Devils get away with stuff too...but not nearly as much). If Pronger was more well-known, I'm sure that either he wouldn't have gotten suspended or Neil would have gotten suspended as well. It's not fair, but it happens. I'm just waiting now to see if Alfredsson's deliberate shot towards a Duck (I forgot who, they said it was at Scott Niedermayer but it looked like he wasn't in the same direction as the shot so I figured they made a mistake) is gonna have any backlash from the NHL or not. I actually saw tonights game, came home 2 minutes before it started. BsroiaadnTalk 03:17, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

I wouldn't be surprised either way, the Senators could always just make the argument that he was taking a shot and it went off to the side, even if it's apparent that he was shooting it at Scotty. Anyway, any new info on it? I looked on NHL.com, Anaheimducks.com, and Ottawasenators.com and haven't found anything on it. BsroiaadnTalk 02:54, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
- Oh well, hopefully the NHL will be fair with punishments one day...but that could be a while. It'll all make up for it if the Ducks win the cup though, wouldn't it? BsroiaadnTalk 18:26, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Degrassi TNG.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Degrassi TNG.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 02:48, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

Watchlist
You should, like, add articles you create to your watchlist, particularly schools. You appear not to have noticed that a number of them have been deleted via AFD, prod, and/or CSD. Thus I would suggest keeping a better eye on your creations. —freak(talk) 09:37, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not keeping an eye on Wikipedia much at all, actually. It's not just the school articles. And quite frankly, I don't necessarily disagree with the AFDs -- the reason I created them in the first place was because there were requests for such articles at the time. -→Buchanan-Hermit™/?! 09:38, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
- Well, frankly, I'd be fucking pissed if I were you. Especially if I had also taken the trouble to produce and upload free photographs to illustrate said articles. —freak(talk) 09:44, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
Smallville
Of all the pictures for Smallville, did you ever get any of the real Kent farm? The Andalinis home? BIGNOLE (Contact me) 01:51, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
- I understand. I actually sent an email to the Trustee at Templeton Secondary School because they have a lot of images of when Smallville came in and worked on the school for the show, but they don't actually release the pictures in any text I could find. So I sent an email to see if I missed a page that talks about the use of their photos from their website. There are some good shots of the crew putting up a new sign and stuff. Replaceable fair use Image:UPass_2007.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:UPass_2007.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Quadell (talk) (random) 23:47, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Mika-Boorem.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Mika-Boorem.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Videmus Omnia Talk 14:54, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

WikiProject Ice Hockey August 2007 Newsletter
WikiProject Ice Hockey Newsletter Dear Buchanan-Hermit/Archive 28! You are receiving this newsletter because you have signed up as a member of WikiProject Ice Hockey. The purpose of this newsletter is to update on the goings on of the project, as there have been major changes, and a lot of new recognized content in the past few weeks. If you are an inactive user, you probably won't recognize the new and improved state of the WikiProject! From the project, Maxim. New recognized content By Maxim
Article Improvement By Maxim Upon some discussion on the WikiProject talk page, the Article Improvement Drive page was revamped by Krm500 and Maxim. It was renamed Wikipedia:WikiProject Ice Hockey/Article Improvement, and it includes two section. The first section is called articles in dire need of improvement. It list articles, usually important, that are in very poor shape. The second section is called requested help. Users list an article they request help improving a certain article, which will facilitate collaboration, which is the aim of any WikiProject. There is one article currently listed there, Henrik Lundqvist, here. The goal is to at least get it to Good article status. Diacritics By Maxim In the past few weeks, there has been quite heated discussion about the use of diacritics in article name. The current guideline is using diacritics in the pages of articles of all player names which require them, but redirects are exempt. Task forces By Maxim This task force was initiated by Krm500. Its current goal is to improve Henrik Lundqvist to Good or Featured article status. It covers all Swedish clubs, leagues and competitions and associated articles, players and coaches that are Swedish, or have played/coached for a Swedish club, and arenas in Sweden. They plan to eventually operate as a sort of a sub-project, which will have its own articles for creation, ranking importance and quality of articles, and co-ordinate article improvement. Its current members are Krm500, Bamsefar75, and CLAES. This task force was initiated by Bsroiaadn. Its goal is to improve New Jersey Devils to Featured Topic status. Although it currently meets the required article count, the task force wishes to improve it further. Its area of coverage is very similar to the Sweden Ice Hockey task force. Its members are Bsroiaadn, JHMM13, FutureNJGov, Sportskido8, Michael Greiner, JRWalko, and Soxrock. Requested Images By Maxim

I have tagged Image:Katie_Stuart_1.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. ElinorD (talk) 21:06, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:Bentall-centre-logo.jpg. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 16:18, 12 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. WikiProject Ice Hockey Newsletter Dear Buchanan-Hermit/Archive 28! You are receiving as you are a member of WikiProject Ice Hockey There's been more new thing going on at WP:HOCKEY, and I think this will help you to stay informed. Since the last newsletter sent out in August, there's been great changes. Read on to find out! Maxim(talk) This just in:
New recognized content By Maxim Especially due to the featured topic drive, there have been many new featured lists promoted concerning NHL awards. Here's the full list of all the 13 FL's promoted since the last newsletter.[1][2]
There have been no new good articles or featured articles. Maurice 'Rocket' Richard Trophy has been given A-Class status due to multiple issues raised at FLC.
Did You Know? By Maxim
Featured Topic Drive By Maxim Started by User:Scorpion0422, the aim of this drive is to make NHL awards a featured topic. A featured topic is basically a set of very high quality articles (good articles and featured articles/lists). In this case, the topic is NHL awards. Many users have helped, including Scorpion0422, Resolute, Serte, Hasek is the best, Maxim, Croat Canuck, Spike Wilbury, FutureNJGov, and T Rex/Dinosaur puppy. The progress has been very good; there are 12 featured lists promoted, and 2 good articles:
Check the project page if you are interested in helping out. Although it's closer to being done than not, there's still work to be done. The next topic that might be tackled is Stanley Cup, but this remains purely speculative and in discussion. |

Orphaned non-free media (Image:E-A-Allen.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:E-A-Allen.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. Fair use rationale for Image:BurnabyMountain schoollogo.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:BurnabyMountain schoollogo.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. AfD nomination of List of issues addressed in Degrassi: The Next Generation
I have nominated List of issues addressed in Degrassi: The Next Generation, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of issues addressed in Degrassi: The Next Generation. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:AberdeenCentre-oldlogo.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:AberdeenCentre-oldlogo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 05:08, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

List of issues addressed in Degrassi: The Next Generation
Hey Buchanan-Hermit! I just noticed that List of issues addressed in Degrassi: The Next Generation was deleted in a AFD. I understand the AFD and agree with it. I run a Degrassi Wiki on Wikia, and was wondering if I could somehow have it restored temporarily, so I could use the content there, and move it to the Degrassi Wiki. (I think that's allowed, since I've seen other wikias use info directly taken from Wikipedia) I thought you did a really good job on it, and I don't think it should go to waste, when it can jsut be hosted on a more relevant wiki, you know? I'd really appreciate it.--theblueflamingoSquawk 03:24, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
- I'm not really active on Wikipedia anymore either. All I get is Fair use rationale tags. I think my Email is enabled. It accepts attachments. If it doesn't work, let me know. Thanks for the fast reply. -theblueflamingoSquawk 04:42, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
- Is it possible for you to post it here? Sorry for all the confusion.--theblueflamingoSquawk 05:36, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use Image:Uel-aerial.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Uel-aerial.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 17:07, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

I have tagged Image:Shes_Too_Young.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Some examples can be found at Wikipedia:Use rationale examples. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Non-free. Thank you. AfD nomination of Prussian Blue (duo)
An editor has nominated Prussian Blue (duo), an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Prussian Blue (duo) (2nd nomination) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 02:00, 10 March 2008 (UTC)== WikiProject Ice Hockey Newsletter ==

about 2 years ago you started a large number of articles on Vancouver schools. since then, the practice seems to have been established that elementary schools generally should be merged into school district articles. Image copyright problem with Image:Langleytownship-coatofarms.gif
Thanks for uploading Image:Langleytownship-coatofarms.gif. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

First off, I apologize for the spam. You are receiving this message because you have indicated that you are in Southern California or interested in Southern California topics (either via category or WikiProject).
I would like to invite you to the Los Angeles edition of Wikipedia:Wikipedia Loves Art, a photography scavenger hunt to be held at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) on Saturday, February 28, 2009, from 1:00 to 7:00 PM. All photos are intended for use in Wikipedia articles or on Wikimedia Commons. There will be a prize available for the person who gets the most photos on the list.
If you don't like art, why not come just to meet your fellow Wikipedians. Apparently, we haven't had a meetup in this area since June 2006!
If you are interested in attending, please add your name to Wikipedia:Wikipedia Loves Art#Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Please make a note if you are traveling to the area (train or plane) and need transportation, which can probably be arranged via carpool, but we need time to coordinate. Lodging is as of right now out of scope, but we could discuss that if enough people are interested.
Thank you and I hope to see you there! howcheng {chat} 23:38, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
WP:FILMS Questionnaire
As a member of WikiProject Films, you are invited to take part in the project's first questionnaire. It is intended to gauge your participation and views on the project. At the conclusion of the questionnaire, the project's coordinators will use the gathered feedback to find new ways to improve the project and reach out to potential members. The results of the questionnaire will be published in next month's newsletter. If you know of any editors who have edited film articles in the past, please invite them to take part in the questionnaire. Please stop by and take a few minutes to answer the questions so that we can continue to improve our project. Happy editing!

File copyright problem with File:Sullivanflag.jpg
Thank you for uploading File:Sullivanflag.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Chris 09:29, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:Littlemanposter.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Littlemanposter.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 13:55, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
Replaceable fair use Image:Diehappy1.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Diehappy1.jpg.
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
Thank you. 72.88.104.182 (talk) 02:45, 16 August 2009 (UTC)

No event is currently planned for Orange County Wikipedians, so I am leaving a message with some of the currently involved editors listed in "Wikipedians in Orange County, California" and "Wikipedians in Southern California" to see if we might want to meet on that day, lunch, dinner, group photo or other ideas welcomed? Notification of pending suspension of administrative permissions due to inactivity
Following a community discussion in June 2011, consensus was reached to provisionally suspend the administrative permissions of users who have been inactive for one year (i.e. administrators who have not made any edits or logged actions in over one year). As a result of this discussion, your administrative permissions will be removed pending your return if you do not return to activity within the next month. If you wish to have these permissions reinstated should this occur, please post to the Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard and the userright will be restored per the re-sysopping process (i.e., as long as the attending bureaucrats are reasonably satisfied that your account has not been compromised and that your inactivity did not have the effect of evading scrutiny of any actions which might have led to sanctions). This removal of access is procedural only, and not intended to reflect negatively upon you in any way. We wish you the best in future endeavors, and thank you for your past administrative efforts.
