[edit]Hello, I'm JRPG. I noticed that you recently removed some content from British Exploring Society without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; I restored the removed content. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks! You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.
If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
below this notice.
You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
below this notice. Thank you. JohnCD (talk) 13:36, 19 August 2014 (UTC)
- Your username may be based on your real name or not, as you choose (see WP:REALNAME for some considerations) but it should not be the name of any organization or group, or of another living person. A name of the form "James at British Exploring" is acceptable and would serve to make your affiliation clear.
- Even with an individual user-name, in relation to the British Exploring Society you would have a Wikipedia:Conflict of interest, and should read that page and the Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide. In brief, do not edit directly but make suggestions on article talk pages.
- I have reverted your edits, which removed reliably-sourced information. I cannot take seriously your claim that "for legal reasons British Exploring Society are required to remove all content regarding this incident from all media channels". BES cannot control the content of Wikipedia, any more than they can control the BBC or the Daily Telegraph. If you seriously think you have a legal reason to request removal of this information, you should contact the Wikimedia Foundation, but I advise using Wikipedia's WP:Dispute resolution process first.
