Welcome

[edit]

Hello Bringing TruthToWikiped and welcome to Wikipedia! We appreciate encyclopedic contributions, but some of your contributions, such as the ones to Tax protester history in the United States, do not conform to our policies. For more information on this, see Wikipedia's policies on vandalism and limits on acceptable additions. If you'd like to experiment with the wiki's syntax, please do so in the sandbox (but beware that the contents of the sandbox are deleted frequently) rather than in articles.

If you still have questions, there is a new contributors' help page, or you can click here to ask for help on your talk page, and a volunteer should respond shortly. You may also find the following pages useful for a general introduction to Wikipedia.

I hope you enjoy editing and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Feel free to write a note on the bottom of my talk page if you want to get in touch with me. Again, welcome! —C.Fred (talk) 14:55, 31 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Help me!

[edit]

I got a note saying my edit violated Wikipedia's policies I don't understand. I am so confused because I thought Wikipedia was supposed to be neutral? I feel by edits was fixing something that you were not being neutral to larken rose and tax protesters in general

Bringing TruthToWikiped (talk) 16:13, 31 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You removed neutral, appropriately sourced content. If you have issues with it, discuss it on the talk page. Praxidicae (talk) 16:30, 31 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
"Neutral" has many meanings, depending on context. One common one is "I pretty much agree with that." In the context of text in a WP-article, the meaning is Wikipedia:Neutral point of view. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 18:15, 31 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

July 2019: Please leave an edit summary

[edit]

Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. You can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Tick Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks!--Quisqualis (talk) 17:57, 31 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Your edit to Tax protester

[edit]

Hello! Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. At least one of your edits, while it may have been in good faith, was difficult to distinguish from vandalism. To help other editors understand the reason for the changes, you can use an edit summary for your contributions. You can also take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you.

Wondering why you tried to change the meaning of the article's lead sentence.--Quisqualis (talk) 18:04, 31 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

because I honestly feel that it's not in compliance with your neutrality policy.

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did with this edit to Tax protester history in the United States. Your edits appear to be vandalism and have been reverted or removed. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Repeated vandalism can result in the loss of editing privileges. Thank you. Serols (talk) 18:08, 31 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize I have brand new and still trying to figure this out I promise that I've been asking where I can take my complaints be to. when I get an answer oh w e r e to take my complaints I will take them there.

The place to start is always the talkpage of the article in question. Click "New section" and write. Answers may not come quickly (or at all, everybody here is a volunteer), so be patient. If you get no reply in a day or two, you can try the talkpage of the wikiprojects metioned at the top of the talkpage. More at WP:DR. WP is a very special environment and takes time to get used to. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 18:40, 31 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

okay it just said someone would ban me but I don't want to get banned. I really want to help with the pedia so I just answered everybody who's accused me bad faith and explained it's my first day here.do are you guys pretty good with cutting newbies slack?

Yes, to a great extent. However, don't WP:EDITWAR, even if things go annoyingly slow (it happens). Be WP:CIVIL and WP:AGF, assume that people who disagree are not evil. Don't ever say anything that looks like a legal threat (WP:NLT). If you stick around, you will find that WP has an lot of strange rules etc, but learning by doing is the way. For questions about editing in general, WP:TEAHOUSE is a good place. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 18:54, 31 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Tax protester. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. GirthSummit (blether) 19:29, 31 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - I see you've reached out for help at the tea house - please listen to what multiple people are telling you. It's your first day editing and you're not sure how to go about doing it - fair enough. Please stop directly editing these articles - start a discussion on the talk pages and explain what you want to change, and why. Mentioning reliable sources that you want to use to support your assertions will help your article. In your last edit that I reverted you actually changed the language in a directly attributed quote in order to make it 'more neutral' - that is not on. Slow down, learn the ropes, and discuss the changes you want to make. GirthSummit (blether) 19:33, 31 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
In that edit you made to Tax protester, you rewrote a definition quoted verbatim from Webster's New World Dictionary, then removed the reference to the dictionary. Wikipedia is based on WP:Reliable sources. The contents of your personal belief system are not considered a reliable source on Wikipedia. Again, please read the articles posted on this Talk page, and comply with them.--Quisqualis (talk) 19:49, 31 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing. --Quisqualis (talk) 01:21, 1 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for persistently making disruptive edits.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.
You are pushing your own point of view and removing well-sourced content. Your username indicates a confrontational attitude. You need to change your behavior if you want to continue editing Wikipedia. It is up to you to convince another administrator that you are actually here to improve this encylopedia, instead of to soapbox. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 01:37, 1 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
