User talk:Brian barghout
Dear sirs,
To the various Admins who are trying to help me, may I first say a thank you.
Regarding comments about conflict of interest I'd like to just say that I noticed that there were links at the article pointing to companies that don't even trade or exist, and I was going to correct that error.
At the time I was blocked I had not disclosed my background, so I don't think it was because of the subject matter being close to me.
Additionally, over my 30 plus years of work I co-founded the second largest manufacturer of Metal containers in the UK, the second largest manufacturer of Plastic containers in the UK, and I've been involved in the design of so many different products ranging from, ice cream containers, pens, shaving systems, cameras, medical equipment, containers etc, that actually total more than 100,000,000 GB Pounds that it's inconceivable that if you live in Europe you haven't already used something either made at one of my factories or designed by me.
It's also not ever going to be worth my while wasting my talent at spamming good sites like the Wikipedia. But I'm starting to think that I'm just setting myself up for a below the belt blow anytime I want to make a contribution about a topic I am knowledgeable at. It's almost always going to be the case given my experience and involvement with so many industry's that someone can bring up conflict of interest. I won't put any links to my sites up, just Google my name, or ask the commercial department of any British embassy anywhere in the world if they have anything on record about me.
In this world we all know there are those that do and those that teach, if getting unblocked is going to take up a lot of my time I won't persist, not because I'm going to sulk, but because I can't afford the time, life is too short and there's much more left for me to do :)
If I do get unblocked, I'll be happy to make a contribution if I feel it will have a positive benefit to your community.
My best regards
Brian Barghout FRSA BSc Chem Eng
Hello, Brian barghout, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.
I notice that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been reverted for this very reason.
To reduce the chances of deletion, you might like to draft your article before submission, then ask me or any other editor to proofread it. To start creating a draft article, just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit that page as you would any other. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.
The one firm rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. It is also worth noting that Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which specifically link them to one company or corporation. If your username does have such a name, it would be advisable for you to request a change of username.
If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! You can also just type {{helpme}}

Request reason:
I signed in today and created an account for the first time. I can't edit the post on "Weather Balloons" even though I have never done anything wrong. My User name is my real name, and I am an expert on weather balloons given that my company sells meteorological equipment all over the world, and I wanted to make a contribution to the post at https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Weather_balloons. My personal blog and resume is at www.barghout.me and for details on my company check www.weatherballoons.asia Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Decline reason:
As far as I can see - you are not blocked directly, there are no active blocks or auto blocks showing. It may be the case that you are caught in a rangeblock. We need more data to see the problem - please have a read of Template:Autoblock, which shows how to obtain the data we need. Ronhjones (Talk) 20:32, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
Can you edit other pages? What is the message you see when you try to edit Weather balloon? If you're still having problems, please post the answers to those questions and add {{helpme}} here. Also, you might want to consult our conflict of interest policy if you're planning to edit in an area related to your commercial interests. Cheers, Bovlb (talk) 20:33, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
I've tried to edit the Sandbox, and can't edit that either. I've done as you suggested tried to edit the page re Weather Balloons and this time copied the following Data that you may need to identify the problem:

Accept reason: I have modified the block on your IP address to be "soft", which means that you will be able to edit when logged in. I hope this clears things up for you. Please ask for more help if not. Please accept my apologies that it takes so long to sort these things out. Bovlb (talk) 21:21, 10 December 2010 (UTC)

Request reason:
when I am at http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User:Brian_barghout and I click the create tab, I find I am blocked from doing that.
So effectively I can't do or contribute anything to wikipedia.
I cant' edit the Sandbox, my User Page or anything
Under the What do I do now I get this message realting to my IP address, it may be useful?
Can I be unblocked?
Decline reason:
Procedural decline. Not directly blocked. Bovlb (talk) 21:21, 10 December 2010 (UTC)

While we look at the blocked proxy issue, I will advise that adding your company information or website link to a Wikipedia article would be contrary to WP:COI, WP:PROMO, and quite probably WP:SPAM. Now, I will repeat that this is not the reason for your block, but could possibly lead to one. Your IP address is currently blocked because someone else who uses that IP address has been damaging the encyclopedia. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 09:12, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
- You should be good to go. Again, welcome to Wikipedia! Bovlb (talk) 21:21, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
- Brian: The status of the IP block was changed on 10 December so that you should now be able to edit from it using your registered account. Your last message here is dated 9 December, so you should try again to edit. EdJohnston (talk) 17:50, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
