Wales UK Parliamentary Constituencies

Wales UK Parliamentary Conrtituencies

[edit]

Hi Brenda, Oldest results first is consistent with the elections template. It doesn't really matter what the English and Scottish pages look like. They have a number of different layout differences both within and between.

Happy to hear your thoughts.

Benawu2 (talk) 04:50, 6 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • I note that all of the articles had been newest first for years, some for more than a decade, even 15 years, however you changed it for some unknown reason, without gaining consensus from anyone. I ask that you revert it back to it's original format, which worked well and is used by the rest of the UK in their parliamentary wikipedia articles. https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_UK_Parliament_constituencies#MP_lists_in_constituency_articles_-_format_change. I noted you commented in that thread and I just replied. As was settled there earlier this year the correct way is oldest results first. Given that I am correct in my approach and that there has been a discussion about it please stop reverting my edits.

Welsh Constituencies

[edit]

Hi Brenda,

I get your point about the portrait photos but what is the harm in putting them in? Constituency pages don't have to be identical and I think the member photos add value.

Thoughts?

Benawu2 (talk) 07:10, 4 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Benawu2,

I wouldn't mind if we had the portraits of every MP so they could be added, which is what seems to happen with congressional districts in the USA, but virtually no UK politician from 1945-2017 have any images, even on their own wikipedia article, due to copyright or other reasons so we'd have a lot of missing images. Take Aberavon for example, it's had 6 MPs, but only 3 have images out of copyright or images at all. Also we don't need a notes section as that is what their articles are for as the notes section, especially in Aberavon, were a mess. BrendaJones54 (talk) 17:36, 4 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ok fair enough. I didn't add them all so not really my argument to prosecute. Will leave them as per your edit.
Cheers

Categories

[edit]

As we already have Category:Black British MPs it's not clear what benefit we derive from your new Category:Black British members of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. --Tagishsimon (talk) 12:15, 6 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yours essentially duplicates the existing category. If there's a problem with the naming of the existing category, that can be changed. Adding duplicate categories is not a sensible thing to do, for obvious reasons. --Tagishsimon (talk) 12:19, 6 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I attempted to change it but couldn't. BrendaJones54 (talk) 12:20, 6 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
That is NOT a good reason to invent a duplicate category. Seeking help with renaming would have been the way to go. Maybe take a moment to think about what you;re doing; it's not helpful. --Tagishsimon (talk) 12:22, 6 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Black British members of the Parliament of the United Kingdom has been nominated for deletion. A discussion is taking place to decide whether this proposal complies with the categorization guidelines. If you would like to participate in the discussion, you are invited to add your comments at the category's entry on the categories for discussion page. Thank you. Tommi1986 let's talk! 14:16, 6 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
