I'm not sure if you wrote this article, but I think it's really really great. Thanks for your contributions to it in any case.

IP edits to Shirley Manson

[edit]

Re: This edit, I strongly believe that the edits you undid were sock edits by an indefinitely blocked editor, User:Nimbley6. Nimbley6 has a fascination with all things Scottish, and used to target Scotland until it was semi-protected on a more or less permanent basis. Since then Nimbley6 has gone after Scottish musicians and other Scottish topics. His targets vary, but Garbage and Shirley Manson are recurring favourites - although they did seem to have fallen out of favour recently; unfortunately it looks like he has "rediscovered" them.

Re:IP edits to Shirley Manson

[edit]

Thanks for the message, I too had started to notice Nimbley6, there was an edit reverted he did on another page last week that stuck in my mind. From looking at your talk page I see he or she has been a thorn in your side for quite some time. Thanks for the heads up though, I'll keep an eye out. I've got the majority of the Garbage and related pages on my watch list and try to revert vandalism and useless contributions as much as my time allows. I spose the grammar and spelling gives the person away.

Luckily for me I generally can spot an untrue/unjustified Garbage edit a mile away. At the moment, I'm not sure of the recent categorisation of Shirley Manson into "Scottish athiests". While I accept that she isn't religious per se, the most recent articles in which Manson is candid about her own beliefs are from 1998/99 (its not a subject she talks about much after then) and I don't think it's fair to make a statement about soemone on comments they made 11 years ago. But, I'll reserve discussion on it, until I find time to do a bit of digging in her interviews to find a recent statement to confirm or dismiss the categorisation. Breakinguptheguy (talk) 14:21, 27 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No problem! Nimbley6 does occasionally edit using registered usernames; this one you might be interested in ;-) Cheers, This flag once was redpropagandadeeds 14:24, 27 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Kylie Minogue

[edit]

hey, you recently contributed to the Kylie Minogue discography but the article has been split without splitting the histories/talk pages ect. to get this properly there needs to be a consensus amongst the editors that the split is justified first. there is a poll here :) Mister sparky (talk) 16:32, 21 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies for not replying sooner - I've not logged in to Wikipedia for *ages*!

I agree: what prompted me to finally log in again was finding Holywood56 rampaging over the old favourite Nimbley6 targets.

Everything you've done so far has been good - banned editors don't get to see their creations kept. If the articles have merit, they'll be recreated by legitimate editors.

I'm reluctant to get drawn back into playing "whack-a-mole" with Nimbley6 and its endless socks, but if you're up for the challenge I'd suggest filing a sock puppet request at WP:SPI: about half-way down the page are two buttons - enter "Nimbley6" in the left box, and hit the left button ("Use this button for most investigations"). That'll take you to a page where you can fill in a few details about Nimbley6's latest sock. Take a look at the archive for past examples of reports, and ping me if you need a hand.

I feel lazy not just doing this myself, but I'm hoping I can focus on work other than sock-busting now I'm back online!

Following your edit here, I added a {{prod}} tag to It's All Over but the Crying. Since you created the article, however, I thought I'd better let you know ;-)

Do feel free to contest my prod; I only added it as I saw you'd removed it from Template:Garbage!

Cheers, TFOWRpropaganda 13:58, 15 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am perfectly happy with that; I created the page back in 2007 when the song was scheduled for release with retailers - obviously once it was clear that the release had been cancelled I tried to remove it myself but it was difficult as there was no evidence that it *had* been cancelled - beyond that it hadn't been released and there was no official confirmation that it wasn't going to be. I removed it once from the template before; I think our old sock puppet friend kept re-adding it. Breakinguptheguy (talk) 14:24, 15 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Heh, that wouldn't surprise me! Incidentally, Holywood56 was blocked a week or so ago. I've taken most of their targets off my watchlist so I doubt I'll see them if they reappear - do feel free to give me a shout if/when they reappear... Cheers, TFOWRpropaganda 14:28, 15 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Will do! Now that I'm almost finished college I can spend more time wiki-ing :) I'm currently looking at the Fire Town page which reeks of our "friend" (uninformed press release style writing, Lack Of Proper Use Of Capitals In Song Titles, and fairly inaccurate statements made from assumptions). If I finish my revision early tonight I may do a quick buff of the page and get it at least, more accurate, if not more in-depth. Breakinguptheguy (talk) 14:37, 15 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Now on GA level! Hope you don't mind if I "adopt" your Garbage articles to push them to this later (it's a crime to just let such a good work there without external review...). igordebraga 15:04, 9 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Korean Bodega, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Capitol (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 07:34, 31 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]
Hello! Voting in the 2019 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 on Monday, 2 December 2019. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2019 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:05, 19 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:TheAcestralTrail12.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:TheAcestralTrail12.jpg, which is from the early 90s magazine The Ancestral Trail. There is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
