Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you.Skjoldbro (talk) 10:14, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Police rank. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Eostrix  (🦉 hoot hoot🦉) 10:26, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I spent HOURS making the edits so a guy just thinks he owns the place and undo it all in 5 deconds and I'M WRONG? He should be blocked for vandalism not me. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BrazilianNormalGuy (talkcontribs) 11:58, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sources

[edit]

The material you are trying to add comes from a dead link, which was a website that isn't likely a reliable source WP:RS. The material is contentious, meaning others believe it needs to NOT be included as it isn't proper for that article. Our best guide in these cases is following WP:BRD, meaning you STOP adding it back and instead go to the talk page and discuss the edits you want to make, and get a consensus. Likely, it won't pass the way you want to include it, but you still start a discussion and find a compromise. If you continue to revert and add the material back, you WILL be blocked for edit warring. We are a collaborative project, not a free for all, and fighting to include material isn't tolerated. Likely, this will be your only warning. Dennis Brown - 10:36, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
