Akron rubber strike

[edit]

Hi, Brayton benj. I took a look at your proposed additions to the Akron rubber strike of 1936 article. I'm glad to see this area getting more coverage on Wikipedia. I have a few comments:

  • I would like to see a few more sources (inc. papers like this) cited in the article. Citing more than one or two sources can help you cross check claims and sometimes more importantly get a sense of what secondary sources consider important about the subject. That will help you write a more balanced and comprehensive article.
  • One of the benefits of writing on Wikipedia is you can link to articles rather than explaining inline what they represent. The section on sit-down strikes, for instance, can take advantage of the knowledge that a reader either knows what that strike is or will follow the link to sitdown strike if they don't. So that section can concentrate on how the workers in this particular strike used that tactic or why they chose it.
  • I'm not sure how the narrative flow is meant to work in the unions section. These are (I think) the unions involved in the strike and it looks like this section offers some background history for each leading up to the strike. If that's the case, I think you should condense this section a bit. Remember, a reader is coming to a wikipedia page to learn about that specific topic. The background information on the URW, URC and GIA should be limited to that which is sufficient to get context for the strike. So a limited historical background and perhaps some immediate background.

I hope these suggestions make sense. Thanks for your work so far, it looks like this is shaping in to a fine improvement over the existing article. Let me know if you need help with anything. Adam (Wiki Ed) (talk) 19:42, 12 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
