Sunshine

Sunshine!
Hello Brambleclawx! moɳo has given you a bit of sunshine to brighten your day! Sunshine promotes WikiLove and hopefully it has made your day better. Spread the sunshine by adding {{subst:User:Meaghan/Sunshine}} to someone else's talk page, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past or a good friend. In addition, you can spread the sunshine to anyone who visits your userpage and/or talk page by adding {{User:Meaghan/Sunshine icon}}. Happy editing! moɳo 03:50, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
Thanks! Brambleclawx 16:13, 16 May 2010 (UTC)

Great minds thinking alike

User_talk:Fastily#Block_Talk_page_editing_too.3F. Thanks for watching my back - JohnInDC (talk) 01:14, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

Oh! I guess we posted at the same time! It looks like both Fastily and Razorbladesoup are logged off for now though. Brambleclawx 01:57, 17 May 2010 (UTC)
Well, all in due time. I don't care if he wants to be a jerk. I do care if he's insulting me by name! But if he's logged off he's not doing much harm - JohnInDC (talk) 02:45, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

BLP PROD removed

Hi, I removed the BLP PROD tag from Dan Baron Cohen, as that tag only applies when the article was created after 18 March 2010. Please see WP:BLPPROD for more information, or feel free to drop me a line. If you still feel the article warrants deletion, please use one of the other methods. Thanks  --Joshua Scott (LiberalFascist) 16:03, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

Oh sorry! That's my fault! Brambleclawx 21:23, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

The Princess' talkpage is a bit lonely these days...  :( BTW DumbBOT is well named: template removed 5 days after the protection expired... Wonder if I should ask the operator to look into it or if there is some obvious reason it takes so long --Jubileeclipman 03:07, 19 May 2010 (UTC)

Your adoption UBX is covered by the stuff, like "about me". Brambleclawx 21:41, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
Ah. I'll try to fix it. I am on dial-up now. It is actually quicker than the dongle! Anyway, the dongle gave up for some reason about 10 minutes ago after behaving very strangely for the last few days. Too expensive to use dial-up for long, of course, so I'll be very limited. Figured out something for the Princess' adoptee, though, so I'd better head over there and let them both know --Jubileeclipman 23:08, 19 May 2010 (UTC)

WP:WARRIORS

Hi Brambleclawx, I am not sure if this was intentional, but when you signed on the list of participants in WP:WARRIORS, you said "I am very insistent on good English, so I will be watching edits for grammar and spelling." yet before that, you said "I memorise everything about Warriors." Just wanted to point this out. Pepperpiggle 21:56, 20 May 2010 (UTC)

Oooh. Oops. Memorise is a British spelling, but I'm not British. Thanks for pointing that out. I'll fix it up! Brambleclawx 00:33, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) That's what happens if you read lots of British literature. I have a few scattered words which I always spell British instead of American. It's a curse. Especially when writing articles! PrincessofLlyr royal court 00:45, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
Same! I stopped trying. I just type which ever way I think of first. Brambleclawx 00:46, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
You should try it the other way round... We Brits find AmEng all over the place, even in British newspapers. I suspect your !language will win eventually! Anyway: WP:ENGVAR... I wouldn't worry too much, in other words: someone out there will "correct" you, if necessary --Jubileeclipman 01:32, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
My English is Canadian English, eh? Brambleclawx 01:35, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
Yes, but pardon my ignorance, I thought Canadians mostly spoke AmEng? And Jubilee, most Americans love Brit English and accents...so the grass is always greener...-PrincessofLlyr royal court 01:42, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
People nowadays are exposed to a lot of American media (books, songs, films, etc.), so now a lot of people end up spelling things in AmEng. It doesn't matter much, since most Canadians don't care which way you spell it. Brambleclawx 22:08, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
Wow! I wouldn't think that simply pointing out an semi-international spelling mistake could turn into a long thread in 4 days! Anyway, I really don't think the Canadians care, but being directly Canadian (and English), I would know that BrE is almost never used in Canada. Pepperpiggle 21:03, 24 May 2010 (UTC)

Fading echoes edit

I'm confused as to why you undid that edit concerning the Fading Echoes information... If it simply needs to be cited, wouldn't it be better to keep it, and cite later than undo it until you can get around citing? Watersoftheoasis (talk) 12:14, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

What I meant to say was that the edit the user made was wrong, and that I should probably have included a citation to Fading Echoes, where I got the info about cats disappearing from StarClan from. Brambleclawx 22:07, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
Oh, hehe, alright. Sorry about that. Watersoftheoasis (talk) 13:02, 27 May 2010 (UTC)

Your custom warning templates

Just a thought, would you consider adding some commented text to your custom warning templates so that automated programs like ClueBot and Huggle will recognize the warning level and escalate it appropriately? I noticed the issue with the warnings at User talk:Lmaciuk, where you left a lvl 2 warning and then a huggler left another lvl 2 warning. VernoWhitney (talk) 15:46, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

I noticed that before too, but am not quite sure what Cluebot and Huggle are looking for. Brambleclawx 22:09, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
From reading ClueBot's code, it needs something like <!-- Template:uw-FOO1 --> with the number matching the warning level. I haven't dug into the huggle code, but I imagine it should catch the same pattern. VernoWhitney (talk) 22:30, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
Thanks! Will do. Brambleclawx 22:31, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

Citing

When I added some citations here I don't know what happened...can you please help? Thx Derild4921 14:35, 31 May 2010 (UTC)

Nvm, I think I got it right this time.. Derild4921 15:14, 31 May 2010 (UTC)

Friendly royal visit

Those three users are still Myspacing (remember the ones you told us to watch?). I would totally support a block suggestion... - PrincessofLlyr royal court 14:08, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

Or, given that two of them just blanked all of the myspacey stuff off their talk pages maybe give then a little longer. PrincessofLlyr royal court 15:03, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

I was at school when I saw your comment, and was going to mention to your that they seem to have just blanked everything (Looks like you noticed it). My guess is that they left. Brambleclawx 22:48, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
more Royalty joining Those users haven't really done a great deal since your warning and only one MySpacey page is left now, the user you didn't warn—see User talk:SPARTAN T-82—though that user has made mainspace edits. We'll keep an eye out in case they are pulling the wool over our eyes (by moving their conversation elsewhere on WP, for example) but for now I'd not worry too much --Jubileeclipman 23:11, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
I left that user because he/she had mainspace edits (though evidently, not particularly nice ones). Brambleclawx 00:12, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

I have reported this user for probable sockpuppetry and vandalism-- new users don't lie about their edit counts yet alone tag themselves as a sock. Cheers —Tommy2010 01:24, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

I saw. Those are good observations. I would've reported for vandalism if they did one more questionable thing. Happy editing, Brambleclawx 01:27, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
Update: I've tagged the account and the user has been indef blocked. —Tommy2010 03:00, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

WikiProject Animals Signpost Interview

Hello Brambleclawx. Per the request on the WikiProject Desk at the Signpost, I have decided to feature the project on June 28. I will post interview questions here and look forward to your replies. Thank you, mono 20:29, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

What Mono? I do not recall any requests. I've never even been to the Wikiproject Desk... Brambleclawx 20:42, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

I was looking for inspiration for a user page revamp. Feel free to help out. I'm planning to play off of Warriors, so maybe labeling things like "fresh-kill", "patrols", "Warriors den", etc. Not sure how I will do it, but I'm working on it. Brambleclawx 22:33, 6 June 2010 (UTC)

Grab some glory, and a barnstar

Hi, I'd like to invite you to participate in the Guild of Copy Editors July 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive. In May, about 30 editors helped remove the {{copyedit}} tag from 1175 articles. The backlog is still over 7500 articles, and extends back to the beginning of 2008! We really need your help to reduce it. Copyediting just a couple articles can qualify you for a barnstar. Serious copyeditors can win prestigious and exclusive rewards. See the event page for more information. And thanks for your consideration. mono 00:53, 12 June 2010 (UTC)

Well, Mono, my copyedit speed is quite low. It took me two months to copyedit Warriors (novel series) once, and I've technically been copyediting White tiger since... a long time ago. I work pretty slowly. Brambleclawx 00:57, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
That's OK. Anything is appreciated, and you have a whole month for as much as you'd like. mono 01:00, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
Ok... I'll try to finish White tiger ASAP. Brambleclawx 01:02, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
If you plan to particpate in any way, please sign up here; it starts July 1. mono 01:06, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
I've given it some thought, and have decided not to participate. However, I will continue copyediting whatever needs to be copyedited. Brambleclawx 17:07, 12 June 2010 (UTC)

Do you know anything about this guy? His article seems to suggest he is fairly important but the only RSs I can find merely prove that he exists and plays the bass clarinet... Not much use, then. Can you find anything better? --Jubileeclipman 22:18, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

Sorry, I've never actually researched anything about bass clarinetists before. Try [1]. Brambleclawx 22:26, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
Another unsourced (but untagged) bass clarinetist page is James Fei, if you're looking for unsourced pages. Brambleclawx 22:29, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

(edit conflict)On a totally random note, I stumbled upon Malaikkottai Govindaswamy Pillai while random page patrolling. The article is in worse condition than above (which I will try and fix). Thanks for fixing the link on my talk page, o helpful talk page stalker. On an even more random aside, I have found Wikipedia (especially copyediting) extremely helpful for my English skills (along with reading tons of books :D). Airplaneman 22:32, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi Airplaneman! I've started a discussion at WP:WARRIORS. And yeah, my English is somewhat better (but not much). Cluebot's been down apparently, or since I last checked, at least. I've come across articles at school while rnadom page reading, but I never remember which ones they are by the time I get home! Brambleclawx 22:35, 13 June 2010 (UTC) Add Is Gilman School your school? (no, I'm not a stalker) Brambleclawx 22:48, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

Thanks anyway! I'll keep looking as the article does make claims of notability. I'll add Fei to my growing list of Contemporary articles to check, also. Me suspect mine English badder getting as I look pages BLP create by subjects of article etc :) That's the pay off for coordinating a project about contemporary musicians from around the world I guess... --Jubileeclipman 23:33, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

BTW< Aiplaneman: you and the Princess seem to have gained new privilege called "Reviewer". No idea what it does --Jubileeclipman 23:39, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
From what I gather, they're testing out a new system where editors who want to edit protected pages can do so, but the edit won't show up to readers until a "reviewer" okays it. Brambleclawx 00:33, 14 June 2010 (UTC)

The Pending Changes trial (formerly known as flagged protection) will commence on 15 June. In a nutshell, this is another form of page protection in which specifically-flagged articles' edits are only accepted if approved by users with the "Reviewer" user right or by any administrator (which supersedes the "Reviewer" right).

The goal of Pending Changes is bring a smarter approach to article protection and to try and allow users to make non-controversial or non-vandalistic edits on articles without completely restricting IPs, new users, or even regular users (depending on the situation and level of protection) from editing altogether.

If anyone has any questions about the trial as it goes along, feel free to shoot away on my talk page. (General questions/comments/concerns should be left here.)

I have obtained the "reviewer" right; note that I will be learning how this system works along with everybody else.

Like my sig? monopending changes begin june 15 00:37, 14 June 2010 (UTC)

Nice sig, and I noticed you made you user talk title silver coloured too. Isn't it a violation of the CC-BY-SA 3.0 and GFDL to copy someone's comment directly without attribution? Brambleclawx 00:39, 14 June 2010 (UTC)
Not of that comment is in the Public Domain! ;) Thanks for the explanation, Mono. I'll see about requesting it. How come some people got it without asking? --Jubileeclipman 00:51, 14 June 2010 (UTC)
I thought all Wikipedia talk page comments were released under those licenses... I think they gave them to pretty much everyone with Autoreview or Rollback. Brambleclawx 00:53, 14 June 2010 (UTC)
Oh, I see what you mean! I think it's OK to quote within WP: it's when you take the comments off WP that you need to attribute. Then again... I'm not sure now! --Jubileeclipman 01:22, 14 June 2010 (UTC)
I was gonna bring up the reviewer thing with you guys. I was wondering myself, so it looks like we've all got some learning to do! I'm kind of surprised you haven't automatically been given the ability, Jubilee. Maybe the sysops just overlooked you. PrincessofLlyr royal court 01:52, 14 June 2010 (UTC)
You have to apply, like I did, at WP:PERM/RW. monopending changes begin june 15 01:58, 14 June 2010 (UTC)
I did and just got it. The Princess didn't apply, though, she got it automatically. Perhaps she was spotted making lots of anti-vandalism edits: I haven't reverted many vandals recently so maybe that's why I had to apply --Jubileeclipman 02:03, 14 June 2010 (UTC)
LOL, I log off and come back to see this. Yes, I didn't ask, but I checked here and saw that I automatically got it :). Hehe, didn't even know... thanks for the heads up, Jubilee! @Brambleclawx: you gave me a freaking (the closest I will come to cursing here...) heart attack... how'd you find out (I demand to know!!!!!)? Airplaneman 02:39, 14 June 2010 (UTC)
You watch it. And you live in Maryland. Not hard to guess, but I wasn't going to post my observation here. Kind of scary, huh? PrincessofLlyr royal court 02:50, 14 June 2010 (UTC) Hey and while everyone's here, I was just massively confused because the talk page to my userspace article (this) got archived. Help? PrincessofLlyr royal court 03:04, 14 June 2010 (UTC)
(edit conflict)Yea... though I thought I watched other schools as well... hmm... Anyway, for more personal stuff like this (don't want to disclose too much to the general public), I'm always up for an email. Oh, and about that blog I tried to create for our more off-topic discussions – Google blocked my account while I was trying to make it and asked for my mobile phone number (the only option – do they expect you to have one?...) to verify I wasn't a spam bot so I'm shot down on that. Airplaneman 03:09, 14 June 2010 (UTC)
About the archive: it is not archived, just indexed. ClueBot was confused because (he? she? it? they?... yea, I'll go with they) saw a subpage to your talkpage. They thought it was an archive and indexed it for you, but it's not archived. Airplaneman 03:16, 14 June 2010 (UTC)

Okay, that makes sense. Thanks! PrincessofLlyr royal court 12:13, 14 June 2010 (UTC)

Okay, now I'm really confused! Which talkpage are we talking about? According to this, you moved User talk:PrincessofLlyr/James U. Cross to User PrincessofLlyr/James U. Cross (without the colon) and then U1ed that page. Cluebot doesn't make an appearance anywhere in this! I have obviously missed something somewhere... BTW, I didn't know that I could use User Jubileeclipman and its subpages as well. That's interesting --Jubileeclipman 13:41, 14 June 2010 (UTC)
This was an example of me being massively confused. Cluebot listed the talk page in the archive box on my talk and I thought that for some reason he (why do I assume it's male?) it had archived my subpage. According to Airplaneman, it just indexed it, so my moving was all in vain. Not using the colon was also my mistake. I was very confused. I'll blame the infected wisdom tooth hole! PrincessofLlyr royal court 14:09, 14 June 2010 (UTC)
Oh my :o hope it gets better! I wonder if there's a way to remove it from the list, or is the bot going to just re-add it? Airplaneman 14:46, 14 June 2010 (UTC)
Wow, I log off, and I come back to see massive chaos? @Airplaneman, let's just say that I was bored, and monitoring their IP was on your to-do (very conspicuous, being the only IP). @Princess: good luck figuring it out! Brambleclawx 00:57, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
Haha; yea, much of the recent vandalism from the IP involved, let's say, people I know :). I was just keeping tabs on them. I think this thread is being continued at Princess's talk page. Airplaneman 01:06, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
Now the question is, do those people know you're keeping tabs on them? I think I'll just leave it on the index for now. Useful link! PrincessofLlyr royal court 02:11, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
No, they don't :p. The thing about most vandals is that they do it as a joke; I'm ashamed to say one of the vandals is a close friend. He did it (write something silly about another friend of mine) for a laugh and didn't really care that he was issued a vandalism warning; I suspect this is true for the majority of vandals, whom I call "casual" vandals. "Hardcore" vandals vandalize repeatedly with a motivation in mind (such as the GRAWP page move vandal). Ok, </rant>. As a side note, as my life gets busier once more, my activity will decrease. I don't think I'll be as active as I have been in the past few moths ever again for the next decade or more, possible for the rest of my life. Oh well, I'll still be around. I'll never retire :) Airplaneman 02:56, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, casual vandals I kind of understand, but hardcore vandals bewilder me. I just can't imagine doing that. Anyhow, you're probably right about activity. Every once in awhile I manage to get a few good days to work, but for the most part, things IRL get busier and busier. Maybe when we're retired IRL we'll have more time to work. PrincessofLlyr royal court 12:37, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
Haha, true. Airplaneman 15:27, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

I was originally taking a one-day wikibreak so I could play Video games (wasting time) instead of editing (wasting time while helping the world). But I couldn't help just commenting on my talk. Hopefully, I never retire! Brambleclawx 01:15, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

None of us can retire: this is a cult... Haven't you see the latest Signpost? Once a Wikipedian, always a Wikipedian, and all that! My RL is getting ever more demanding, BTW: I will try to complete the split-apart of MUSTARD over the next month or so (HELP!) and will keep up with WP:CTM as best I can, of course, but my edit count generally will remain very low relative to my previous activity. No retirement for me neither, though: WP is too visible to the outside world to ignore its often subtle impact on the public opinion and perception of all the people, concepts, etc that it covers (i.e. everyone/thing going...) Oh: Bromance. Is this really a word? The article feels like pure WP:Synthesis to me and the concept it attempts to describe just sounds like any deep friendship between two blokes. The word just sounds like some buzzword (like "metrosexual") that has caught the public imagination over in the US and Australia but not in the rest of the world. I can't find it in any dictionary online, aside from the non-RS Wiki-like Urban Dictionary, let alone an encyclopaedia... I am reading through all the sources slowly to try to make sense of the article and will post my thoughts over at its talkpage later today. Any thoughts from you guys in the meantime? --Jubileeclipman 11:32, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
Okay, glad you explained the whole bromance thing, because that edit summary had me a bit worried. Um, it is recent (coined 1990) and probably mostly a US thing. I'm pretty familiar with it, because it is common here. May not have picked up in the UK yet. It has occurred quite a bit in our celebrity world over here, which makes more news-worthy than the term would be in and of itself. You may be correct that it is a "buzzword"; are you thinking about AfD-ing the article or just think it's interesting? PrincessofLlyr royal court 13:31, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
I was thinking of AfD but now realise that it is notable enough to stay as long as it is properly explained and sourced and not merely a glorified dictionary definition. At the moment, the entire article is a classic synthesis of sources to reach conclusions never actually stated any of them. As such it is OR and POV. I am sure it can be rewritten but I have no idea how --Jubileeclipman 15:30, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
I'm a bit late, but yes, it's a fairly common term in North America, used even in newspapers, such as the Toronto Star. Brambleclawx 22:00, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the info. I have posted over at the article's talkpage and marked the article as a WP:Synthesis --Jubileeclipman 00:24, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
Googling "Wikipedia" returns news headlines about the Reviewer trial! I didn't know news sources were that fast! Brambleclawx 22:22, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
How come you haven't got Reviewer, yet?  :) --Jubileeclipman 22:53, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
I'm not too worried about aquiring priviledges, and they're mostly giving it to rollbackers and autoreviewers, who are trusted. Brambleclawx 01:58, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

Just letting you know the current format requires horizontal scroll bars on smaller screen resolutions - that's why I offered a second design. Have fun ;) Airplaneman 04:31, 23 June 2010 (UTC)

Ah... Isn't it possible to just downsize the boxes then? Brambleclawx 14:16, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
I have tried before and it doesn't seem to work. (had this problem on my old userpage as well - getting rid of the side column (the one with your userboxes) would fix it). Probably just the formatting. Removing the width doesn't seem to be helping either; maybe it defaults to 100%? Setting it to like 60% won't help either (I tried). Seen it already - like the reorganization. Why post a message @me @here? I have a talk page :) Airplaneman 02:41, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
I don't mind the random comments, since I do it a lot. See the very long edit summary for my next edit to the newuserpage. Brambleclawx 17:33, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
Also, Airplaneman, do you think this is any use to the Warriors article? Brambleclawx 17:53, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
Well if you don't might me answering, I don't really think that this can be used. It doesn't really offer any information about the Warriors series and its just about how these kids like the series. Although it's great to see kids like the series, I don't think people care about how kids feel about books. People tend to listen to professional critics and Wikipedia. :) Derild4921 18:17, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
Though it might give a perspective of its popularity compared to other books... Brambleclawx 18:19, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
Well, if you put it that way...it might be able to be squeezed in somehow... Also, do you think it would be ok to uses reviews from here for Ranger's Apprentice? Derild4921 18:29, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

Not sure... I suppose you could always give it a try, and if it doesn't work out, you can remove it later. Brambleclawx 18:30, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

Ok, then. I'll try it out then. Derild4921 18:33, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
About the link, BC, I guess it could be an interesting add, but the evidence is too narrow; you can't conclude which books are popular by looking at three random kids from a random school. Just my take on it. @Derild, see my talk page. Airplaneman 23:12, 26 June 2010 (UTC)
Alright then. Brambleclawx 23:14, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

Suggestions?

Hi, I'm trying to clean up Ranger's Apprentice over the summer. So far I've written the plot and setting, but they still need some references. I've been having trouble when it comes to characters because I don't know if I should keep the current list or delete that and begin adding reviews and themes. Talk page stalkers are welcome to help! Thanks! Derild4921 16:16, 23 June 2010 (UTC)

I personally have no idea... I would take out the less important characters though. Brambleclawx 22:11, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
I already have, but the page is still pretty long...I'll probably only keep the ones that appear in every book and get rid of the horses. Derild4921 22:14, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
Sounds good. Brambleclawx 22:20, 23 June 2010 (UTC)

thanks for the info re:sockpupetry

Perhaps the allegations make me technically guilty of that offence.

However, I have always been completely honest about my identity and have not tried to deceive anyone in any way.

I have only ever wanted to use one account. The problem is they keep getting blocked. Quite how can anyone legitimately protest their blocking which is clearly erroneous without resorting to such drastic action is beyond me. Perhaps you have a better idea?

Anyway, that is not the core isssue here. The core issue is that ohnoitsjamie (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) has deleted, for no good reason the following articles:

It should be clear who the real disruptive influence is here. Thanks for your attention. Ohyesitssirfrancis (talk) 21:31, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

(talk page stalker)Sorry, Ohyesitssirfrancis, but those pages seem to have been deleted quite legitimately. In particular, you edited while blocked and recreated pages deleted after consensus to delete was established in a discussion. The templates were deleted because they had no independent value apart from the articles. See WP:CSD and review each of the criteria. If you keep getting blocked, you might like to ask your self "why?" rather than creating another account in order to bypass the block. BTW, Ohnoitsjamie's block log makes for funny bedtime reading!!! --Jubileeclipman 01:11, 26 June 2010 (UTC)
This message is quite long, so I hope you will patiently read it all: I suggest that originally, you should have waited your block out, given it some thought, then discussed it, perhaps with the deleting user. You could've explained why you thought the pages were useful, before re-creating them after they were deleted. I suppose all this advice is pointless now since you're indef-blocked... I'm not sure what you could do now, but my advice is to wait maybe... a week or two at least, but a month would be better, and think about it carefully: Why do you feel this article/template is important enough to not be deleted, and then try to see it from other people's perspective; when you have a clearer understanding of both sides, formulate a calm, logical "argument" (not an angry-arguing argument, as in a calm debate-argument. read WP:CIVIL for advice), then request unblocking of your original account, through the email of unblock-en-llists.wikimedia.org.
However, read the guide to appealing a block, and for you, especially, read the section about blocked sockpuppeteers. As you can see, they suggest not editing for a while, and when you feel ready, request unblocking on your original account. WP:AAB tells us that creating a new account to appeal a block is wrong, so I do NOT expect you to reply to this message, because then you would be reducing your chances of ever being pardoned. The main point of being unblocked is demonstrating that you understand what you did wrong, and agreeing to not do so again (in your case, the improper use of multiple accounts, and "disruptive editing" due to creation of articles deleted by discussion. When and if you successfully appeal, and are unblocked, you will be expected to stick to the account, and not create those pages again. If you do want those pages recreated, I would suggest that you take it to deletion review. Once again, I hope it wasn't tl;dr, and that you take this advice to heart.
To make a long story short: wait a sufficient amount of time; request unblocking through email provided above, explaining why you should unblock, and demonstrating that you understand what you did wrong (and agree not to do it), then if you still feel the article should be created, take it to deletion review. Cheers, and I will keep track of you, shoudl you successfully return. Brambleclawx 22:00, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the welcome. Adding extra spaces..

wow.. are we monitored closely? that was fast :p

How do we insert an extra space between sentences. I know its not the norm but can often improve readability if there are lots of citations at the end of a previous sentence. --Warpslider (talk) 23:29, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

What exactly do you mean by extra spaces? Could you maybe give me an example? Brambleclawx 23:30, 26 June 2010 (UTC)
Just spacing chars... for instance if I press the keyboard's space key 2-4 times in-between sentences (within a paragraph), wikipedia always reverts to one spacing char - it seems to have imposed this as a default --Warpslider (talk) 00:01, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, it does that. If you're trying to get more spaces in, I would try inserting multiple non-breaking spaces, by typing &Nbsp; (using a lowercase n), so for example, Rocks are tasty if I eat&Nbsp;&Nbsp;&Nbsp;them as a meal should give: Rocks are tasty if I eat   them as a meal. But I think it's common practice to just leave it at one space. Whith refereces, there shouldn't be a space after the period before the <ref> tag. So it should be: "Rocks are good pets.<ref>My first encyclopedia of fun</ref> This is the next sentence". Too many refs after one statement is something we try to avoid though, so if there's too many references for one statement, when a few would be enough, get rid of the unneeded ones. Brambleclawx 00:07, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
Thanks a lot!     it took me a long while to figure it out. I missed the part where you said --> (using a lowercase n) on &Nbsp !!
So i was wondering.. are you assign to certain topics/region where a new article triggers a pop-up box for you to vet ? --Warpslider (talk) 01:01, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
No, no one is assigned to anything. You can do whatever you feel like, just try to follow the rules on being polite and not being disruptive. Most articles don't really need to be checked before they are created, but if they're no good, they can be caught by New pages patrollers, who check newly made pages. A lot of Wikipedians join WikiProjects, which are basically groups of Wikipedians who work together to improve articles of a certain topic. Oh, and you can add pages to a "watchlist" by pressing the star at the top of pages (beside "view history"). Then, when you go to "my watchlist" right at the top, you can see all the new changes to the pages you watchlist. Brambleclawx 22:32, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
Hi, thanks again for the explanation! gosh there's just sooo much to read and know. Hope to find some time to go through the links you provided soon. cheers --Warpslider (talk) 12:24, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

Whoops

Sorry about this. I erased the number first, added the source and then forgot to add the number back in. Also,if you looked at the source you could have saved time not counting the weeks since it's on the list ;). Derild4921 21:50, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

Oh wait, you counted out when it started being on the list, not how many weeks it was on the list. Ignore the strike out line part then!Derild4921 21:52, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
Actually, I'm confused as to how they count it; do they mean consecutive weeks, or totla weeks? Brambleclawx 21:56, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
I'm not sure either...Derild4921 21:59, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
I've done a bit of looking, and Warriors: The New Prophecy first showed up on their list in January 2006. They didn't count Warriors as a whole until sometime in summer 2008. And what kind of silly description is that?: "... meet up with the StarClan?" They don't want to die! I'll continue looking through their archives... Brambleclawx 22:05, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
Well, I'll look around too, but I just put that in when I had a chance to use my laptop which can use any site, but the computer I'm using now can only look up a few sites. I'll try to get on my laptop soon...Derild4921 22:19, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
Sure. Brambleclawx 22:20, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing that out. However, as noted on my user page, I don't intend to edit those articles again. If you wish to contribute to those articles, please feel free to find reliable sources that help to verify any unsupported statements yourself. I may, in a long time, choose to re-edit those articles so that they correspond to the standards now expected of Wikipedia and expected of my edits. In the meantime, please don't hold your breath. Thank you. Bastin 22:22, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

I'll let it be then... I have a lot of things I'm working on... Brambleclawx 22:40, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

BLP PRODs

Hi, thanks for your efforts, just a friendly note to say that sticking a PROD tag on an article while the original is clearly still working on it is a little bitey. You put a BLP PROD tag on Miriam Shao about ten minutes after the author's last edit and they had clearly been expanding it. Sometimes a polite note on their talk page or a {{BLP unsourced}} tag might get the message across that sources are required without frightening off a new editor. Best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 14:01, 4 July 2010 (UTC)

My bad...? I'll remember that. Brambleclawx 21:51, 4 July 2010 (UTC)

Thanks! Hope to see you soon after your Wikibreak. I'll continue answering questions on your talk page for you. Brambleclawx 21:18, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

Dawn

Do you know if any exert of Dawn (Warriors) appears in any of the books or if it is mentioned in any chat or interview. I intend to write some kind of Pre-release history section, but I can't seem to find any information without the New Prophecy series books. Derild4921 15:19, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

Chances are, a couple of chapters appeared in the back of Moonrise. The probability is quite high. If you can access the page, here is a transcript of the Erin Hunter chat (maybe use you laptop that can go to more sites). This is the first chat, and the only one before the release date of Dawn. Some advance-copy readers comment, so there are mentions of it. Brambleclawx 23:05, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
Ah, ok I'll try looking in that page later. I'll probably go borrow Moonrise from the library soon too. Derild4921 23:09, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
Good to know. and I thought you were on break. Brambleclawx 23:10, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
Well I was just to play some games, but then I got bored today so I came back out of boredom. Derild4921 23:38, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
Also, I'm now trying to get Into the Wild up to a GA and I was reading the first assessment and saw that a characters section would be needed, but I haven't seen it in any of the book articles. Is there a reason or should I add it in? Derild4921 15:54, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
The first thing that comes to mind is that this is going to be a challenge. I hope you like 'em, cuz this goal will not be easy! Now, regarding characters, if you want to improve it to GA, I suppose you will need a short little section describing the most important characters, so definitely Rusty, Graystripe, Tigerstar, etc. At the top of this "characters" section you would probably add a link to the list of warriors characters using {{mainarticle}}. I think having this section makes the article less "in-universe" because we can't assume that a reader is going to just follow the link to the full list and be able to find all the characters that pertain to Into the Wild. I'll help a bit if you need it. Brambleclawx 17:10, 19 July 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, I do realize how hard this would be and I even have a harder crazier one here with 3 GA hopes, 7 B-Class and 3 C-Class. XD. Though its all about improving the article up to at least to C or if it is already, one level higher. Derild4921 17:22, 19 July 2010 (UTC)

I'm aiming to raise the book articles to C-class once I get the main warriors article to GA. Brambleclawx 17:24, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
Yeah...back again. Do you know if there is any source that talks about the theme of forbidden love for that I can use for Into the Wild? Also, I got the origins and inspiration section from information that was deleted in the past so I don't know if the sources are right, can you just check to make sure that the sources work? Thanks! Derild4921 14:24, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure those sources are good. The problem is the old refs for themes appear to link to the second Erin HUnter chat, whose transcript has been mysteriously blank for some time now... Brambleclawx 22:33, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
Ah, that's bad, I'll see if I can find anything for that then. Derild4921 22:40, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

new to editing wikipedia

this is katty24.

I am new to editing wikipedia and so would like your guidance. I am working on an individual's piece: Eric Margolis. I have attempted to make changes and I believe that they have been changed back. For example, I modified "Background" in reference to Nexhmie Zaimi as "a journalist and author" period. This was previously mentioned as "his American-Albanian mother who was a journalist and author". Reference to Henry M. Margolis mentions him as "a New York businessman......". The same level of gender respect and respect for profession should be allowed to Ms. Zaimi. The paragraph mentions "Margolis was born.....to Henry M. Margolis, a New York businessman..etc.....and Nexhmie Zaimi, his American-Albanian mother.....etc.etc.....". In its current state, reference to her profession as a journalist and author seems like an afterthought. The first sentence in the paragraph is clear in stating Eric Margolis' relationship to Nexhmie Zaimi. To state that she is his mother is redundant and adds nothing to the paragraph. To state that she is an American-Albanian mother adds nothing to the paragragh. I have attempted to refer to Nexhmie Zaimi and her profession in the same manner and with the same level of respect given to Henry M. Margolis and yet I continue to receive notices and this change (amongst others) reverts back.

Can you please assist me? Thank you! --Katty24 (talk) 19:37, 21 July 2010 (UTC)

I have reviewed sections re: Wikipedia. I think that I angered certain seasoned editors as I did not include the edit summary. My huge mistake! My apologies to one and all. I will attempt again and thank you for your patience! --Katty24 (talk) 15:03, 22 July 2010 (UTC)

You don't actually have to write an edit summary, it's just that most editors prefer it so they know what has been done to the page, and sometimes, the edit summary may include why you did something, especially if it might be controversial. I split up/restructured the sentence you mentioned above so that his parents' professions are listed in a second sentence, hopefully so that it reads better. Also, regarding the other edits, generally, you should explain why you are removing text, especially if the text has a citation. Brambleclawx 20:14, 22 July 2010 (UTC)

Hey!

Haven't talked in a while :). I see you're forgetting to leave edit summaries *shakes head disapprovingly*. Even for small contribs, I try to put something in, such as "fix", "tweak", "ce" (copyedit), or something. Anyway, since you work a lot in Erin Hunter articles, I thought this might interest you. Anyway, it was nice to talk again! Airplaneman 20:55, 22 July 2010 (UTC)

Actually, I was just thinking about how much I missed talking to you and Princess (after seeing Princess' hello on your talk page). I'll look at the merge proposal (I've never read Seekers yet). I tend to not leave edit summaries when I'm rushed . I'll try to use the edit summary more. Brambleclawx 20:58, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
OK; sounds fine and saves time. I'm saddened to say that I have lost interest in Warriors (which my sister introduced me to) and only got as far as the second book in Seekers :(. I'll still try to edit their articles, though :). Airplaneman 21:04, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. =) Brambleclawx 21:05, 22 July 2010 (UTC)

Believe it or not, I've already found the themes in SkyClan's Destiny in the author chat. That should keep it from being deleted. I've read Seekers, but lost interest in the 5th book. Derild4921 21:10, 22 July 2010 (UTC)

I highly doubt I'll ever lose interest in Warriors... Good news for the project! But I'm still feeling quite bonked, with all this memorisation to do every day, studying music history... I didn't even feel like vandal-fighting today. The event that I most anticipate in the near future is the August 15 author chat... plenty of fresh Warriors info! Brambleclawx 21:14, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
Well good luck getting over the bonk! If only some one I knew had a wands and worlds account...Derild4921 21:17, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
Yeah... then we could ask the Erins for all the reliable info we'd ever need! Brambleclawx 21:18, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, hopefully the chats will count as reliable sources during GAs otherwise the bulk of our info is gone >.<Derild4921 21:24, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
I'm sure they'll be reliable, but not by themselves; you'll need some third party sources too. Airplaneman 21:32, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
It's so difficult to find third-party sources for Warriors... I get so frustrated by it. Brambleclawx 18:12, 23 July 2010 (UTC)

I finally found the second chat transcript from a link on the Guttersnipe leading to a webarchived one! Link is here! Derild4921 18:27, 23 July 2010 (UTC)

Awesome! That's defintely a link that I need to keep! Brambleclawx 18:31, 23 July 2010 (UTC)

Problem

I've got good news and bad news. Good news is that Into the Wild (Warriors) has made it to GA. Bad news is the reviewer reviewed it wrong. As you can see nothing was listed here and the reviewer made all the changes by theirself. And truthfully, I really don't like the layout now. Should we change it back or ask for a reassessment or just keep it as it is? Derild4921 13:48, 31 July 2010 (UTC)

Well, after posting it up on WP talk:GAR the issue has been fixed and problems are now being fixed on the review page. It should pass! Derild4921 23:27, 31 July 2010 (UTC)

Well, reviewers are encouraged to fix stuff if they can. Though I see some stuff has been placed in the review area now. Brambleclawx 20:14, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

Warriors GA3

Have you considered requesting that a trusted editor review it? Might get it done faster! PrincessofLlyr royal court 18:48, 2 August 2010 (UTC)

I agree, maybe Truthkeeper88 though I think he's on wikibreak, I'll also look around for some others. Derild4921 19:23, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
I was actually thinking someone other than Truthkeeper, given that several of us have interacted with him multiple times before. I have a couple of people in mind too. I'll wait to see what BCx says before I ask. PrincessofLlyr royal court 20:00, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
Ah, ok but I really don't know anyone else :p Derild4921 20:34, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
Sorry to bother you so much when you're taking a break, but can you find any place that proves China publishes Firestar's Quest? I have found people talking it about it but no online store that gives information I need. I'm done about an hour's searching but nothing comes up. Thanks in advance! Derild4921 02:00, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
iDid 1.5 minutes of searching, ending up here. I pressed "ctrl+F" and searched "China". I clicked on ref #2. If you can somehow search the site, it might have a mention of Firestar's Quest in it. If not, I wouldn't worry about it until a reliable source reports it. As for the GA review, best of luck! I would review it myself, but I've edited it too much to feel comfortable doing so. Besides, I'm busying myself reviewing airplane articles :). Also, wish Jubilee well at his talk (thanks for starting the thread, Princess!) Airplaneman 02:30, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
Sadly, I visited that link yesterday and there was no link to Firestar's quest. I could only find an english edition of the book on an online chinese book sale. Well, I don't have to have the chinese version for the article though it would be nice if I could. Derild4921 12:14, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

And, Bcx, not sure when you come back, but take a look at this. Hopefully the link is the right one... Derild4921 16:51, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

Good luck finding more links/refs. That's rough. Airman, he's the only one of my old stalkers that I haven't seen around in awhile. That's perfectly understandable since he's caring for his dad, but I wanted him to know that we did miss him. Oh, and if anyone's interested in Fablehaven, I'm about to move the wikiproject to a task force and attempt to revive it. PrincessofLlyr royal court 17:58, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
Sorry about the sudden disappearance everyone. A former teacher's wedding on Saturday, friends coming for a backyard barbeque on Sunday, Peach/plum-picking on Monday (Civic holiday), and studying for Friday's exam+piano practice added up to me not showing up on Wiki.
  • The review can wait, it's not too much of an issue. (there is a backlog, and plenty of articles nominated before this one)
  • Not sure about Firestar's Quest. In fact, I'm not sure if it's been published in China at all...
  • And yep! That's a correct link to A FIFTH WARRIORS SERIES (pardon the shouting, hopefully doesn't set off an edit filter)
  • I sure hope Jubilee is doing ok...

blanking of talk page messages

Regarding this edit:[2], users are explicitly allowed to remove almost anything from their talk pages. WP:BLANKING is the relevant policy section. Beeblebrox (talk) 21:46, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

Ok, thanks, I didn't know that. Brambleclawx 15:46, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
LOL, this is exactly the same thing I did here! And yea, try reading WP:TPO as well if you haven't yet :) Airplaneman 15:56, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
I think it's like a wiki right of passage, everybody does it at least once and then they get a message like this. Beeblebrox (talk) 16:02, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
Looks like I've joined the club then . Brambleclawx 16:11, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

Do you think we should remove the references for the plot? Usually in the separate book articles it is accepted that the plot is taken from the book so wouldn't the same thing apply here? Also, should we shorten the plot even further so nothing except absolutely plot is in? We could remove everything from the first series except Firepaw entering the Clan, Tigerstar's betrayal and attempts to destroy the Clan, Graystripe with Silverstream and the final battle with BloodClan. It's just an idea so I won't think about the other series yet. Thanks! Derild4921 22:40, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

I think that we should keep citations for important details. And aren't the plot summaries only containing plot now? Brambleclawx 15:43, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
Looking back on the article, it does only contain the plot info so I'll see if I can shorten it anyways. As for the refs, I also asked User talk:Truthkeeper88#Warriors (novel series) the same thing. According to him we don't need refs so should we take them out? I already got rid of the ones in the original series. Derild4921 15:53, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
Well, ok, but be careful, since some books are cited elsewhere in the article. Brambleclawx 15:55, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
Ok, I'll try to get it done today. Derild4921 15:56, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

Hello

Hello Brambleclawx! I noticed that your name is a name from the warrior cats series, and I was wondering if you like warriors too?Zekepepe (talk) 22:34, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

Chat script?

Do you know how long it will take for the transcript to come out? An IP already added information from the Chat in but I can't confirm since I the transcript isn't out yet. I'll delete the info for now until the chat is found. Thanks! Derild4921 18:09, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

Well... the transcript for number 6 came out 2 months minus 3 days after the chat... so we may be waiting until October... Brambleclawx 15:38, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
Ughh well hopefully it'll be shorter than last time. Derild4921 15:47, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
