Please read the rules page 3 and 4.
Belgian will be B2 for sure. The Netherlands can finish as D2 or D3.
If the Netherlands will finish as D2, all will be normal:
- B1 - D4 ==> SRB - CZE or MNE in Belgium
- B2 - D3 ==> BEL - UKR in Belgium
- D1 - B4 ==> POL - SVK or ESP in the Netherlands
- D2 - B3 ==> NLD - DEU in the Netherlands
However if the Netherlands finishes as D3, B2 versus D3 would be BEL - NLD. This is not allowed according to the rules because host nation play in their own country for the 1/8 finals. Therefore several switches will be made. The lowest ramged of the 2 (D3 is lower than B4) will switch positions in its group with the 4the ranked team. For seeding purposes NLD will "act" as D4 instead of D3 and CZE or MNE will act as D3 instad of D4. So B1 versus D4 will become SRB - NLD. Not only that, since NLD has the right to play the 1/8 final in its own country, SRB will no play in Belgium but in the Netherlands. The full schenme will be:
- B1 - D4 (original D3) ==> SRB - NLD in the Netherlands
- B2 - D3 (original D4) ==> BEL - CZE or MNE in Belgium
- D1 - B4 ==> POL - SVK or ESP in Belgium
- D2 - B3 ==> UKR - DEU in the Netherlands
In both scenario's SRB is B1, but the country they'll play differs. Two things are certain, BEL will play it's match in Belgium in the late match on the 21st. NLD will play in the Netherlands, but whether it will be the early or late match on the 21st depends on them finishing as D2 or D3 (D4 after the swao).
Just look at 2019 Women's European Volleyball Championship where POL finisged as B2 and SVK as D3. Both of them host nations and therefore they didn't play each other in the 1/8 final.--Sb008 (talk) 10:18, 19 September 2019 (UTC)
