If you'd like some help with editing or otherwise, you can sign up at the new users log, post a question at the Help Desk, or ask me on my talk page.

Please sign your name on Talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. It is a good idea to read the most recent entries at the bottom of the Talk page of an existing article before making major changes to it, to see if your proposed change has been discussed before. Before I make a major change to an article, I often make a proposal on the Talk page to see if anyone minds.

Again, welcome! -- Ssilvers (talk) 23:52, 7 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Faure

[edit]

If you can suggest, on Faure's Talk page, some alternate wording that is consistent with either the sources already cited, or any others that you can cite, it would make it more likely that the people who edit the classical music articles (I would never call them fuddy-duddies) might be more willing to make a change. Best regards! -- Ssilvers (talk) 01:31, 8 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

To Ssilvers:
I'm not sure if this is the way to respond to a message. It's been a long time since I contributed to Wikipedia, mostly for a choral group I used to sing with. I did leave a detailed note on the Fauré talk page, complete with links, sources and a citation. I hope the author takes my suggestions to heart. Bonnieful (talk) 01:49, 8 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, your posting there was excellent, and that's how I found you. I'm now suggesting that you add another response on that Talk page, with specific suggested alternate language that you think would be better, together with what specific source(s) supports that language. That will maximize the chance that a change will be made and accepted. BTW, Wikipedia pages don't have "an author" -- we can all edit any page. All the best. -- Ssilvers (talk) 02:36, 8 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I will rewrite the paragraph with the changes I think are necessary and post it in the talk page. Bonnieful (talk) 02:45, 8 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Don't rewrite it -- you should not change Talk pages once others have responded. Just add a new message with the additional information. -- Ssilvers (talk) 02:47, 8 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
