Grand Marquis sales numbers
[edit]Hi, I saw that you reverted the Grand Marquis page back to where it was before I edited it. I deleted those sales numbers because there is no evidence to prove them. In fact, this is a Wikipedia policy, so don't revert the page again until evidence for the numbers has been found. --ApolloBoy 04:46, 26 September 2005 (UTC)

Albania is also rich in rivers and streams with significant hydroelectric potential. These have been exploited quite effectively, making the country an energy exporter. A number of huge hydroelectric power plants have been built, mainly on the Drin River, and more than half of the country's arable land is irrigated, largely from the artificial reservoirs created upstream of the dams.

[edit]Hi, I was wondering if you would support me in the discussion to keep the GM minivans separate, rather than merge them with the Chevrolet Lumina APV and Chevrolet Venture articles. I'd really appreciate your help ans support. -Bavaria 17:36, 22 January 2006 (UTC)

Swedish administrative reorganization in store?
[edit]Hello Boivie! Would you happen to have any information on or links to the prospects of replacing the Swedish counties with larger regions? If executed, such plans would be on par with recent development in Finland, England and Scotland, upcoming developments in Denmark, and ongoing debates in Norway. I am asking you since it was brought to my attention that you were the one who added that section to the article (which I have subsequently adjusted and tweaked a bit). [edit]Hello, how come the "Car Portal Selected Article" template was removed from the Lincoln Town Car discussion page. Why is the TC article not anymore selected? Are there any impovements I should make to the article or is this just a normal rotation? Please let me know. Also, If the selected articles are rotated, I would like to create a category and template for former car portal selected articles. Thank you. Anniversaries
[edit]I would prefer to leave the empty anniversary articles empty than to just put null content there. If they're empty, it makes it easier to see which ones need content by glancing at Portal:Cars/Anniversaries. --SFoskett 15:06, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
- I'd say that we should make sure there is content in all the anniversaries then. I've finished all of June, so the point is null for now. I'll try to keep a few days ahead of you on this and we'll both be happy. --SFoskett 21:52, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
Would you be able to comment on this for me? I am considering proposing it for deletion. I looked through the sv:Nollning article, and despite my very limited knowledge of Swedish I was able to see that it's unsourced and tagged as "fluff", and that all it does is chronicle customs at individual Swedish universities, which are of course individually NN. No treatment is given to Nollning as a social phenomenon, cf. Hazing, so I am wondering whether this article will never have substance and should be prodded. Thanks and regards, - CrazyRussian talk/contribs/email 01:32, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
Wikiproject Automobiles Notification
[edit]Hi Boivie, you were on the list of members at WikiProject Automobiles and we are introducing a new way of listing members, as the old list was becoming too long. Our new method involves having all of our members in a category.
To add yourself to the category just add the userbox to your user page by putting {{Wiki Auto Project}} where you want the userbox. Alternatively if you don't like the userbox you can add [[Category:WikiProject Automobiles members|Boivie]] to your userpage.
If you no longer wish to be a member of the project, simply don't add the userbox or category, there's no pressure. Thanks for your time, James086Talk | Contribs 04:57, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
Image:Hyundai Pony 2.gif
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Hyundai Pony 2.gif. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr 16:53, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

Licencing of location maps for European countries
[edit]Hi. You are one of many editors having expressed a concern about the licence for David Liuzzo's maps. He already changed this for the European countries without EU-highlighting, see Commons - Template:Europe location. The creator promised to do so as well for their version with EU-highlighting, and nothing will go on as long as this may not have been taken care of. Meanwhile, in case you like to inspect the presently modified licence and wish to comment on it, please do so in the subsection Comments on the February 2007 new licence for David Liuzzo maps. Kind regards. — SomeHuman 3 Feb2007 17:16 (UTC)
Location Maps
[edit]On the WikiProject Countries talk page, you had either explictly declared a general interest in the project, or had participated at a discussion that appears related to Location Maps for European countries.
New maps had been created by David Liuzzo, and are available for the countries of the European continent, and for countries of the European Union exist in two versions. From November 16, 2006 till January 31, 2007, a poll had tried to find a consensus for usage of 'old' or of which and where 'new' version maps. At its closing, 25 people had spoken in favor of either of the two presented usages of new versions but neither version had reached a consensus (12 and 13), and 18 had preferred old maps.
As this outcome cannot justify reverting of new maps that had become used for some countries, seconds before February 5, 2007 a survey started that will be closed at February 20, 2007 23:59:59. It should establish whether the new style maps may be applied as soon as some might become available for countries outside the European continent (or such to depend on future discussions), and also which new version should be applied for which countries.
Please note that since January 1, 2007 all new maps became updated by David Liuzzo (including a world locator, enlarged cut-out for small countries) and as of February 4, 2007 the restricted licence that had jeopardized their availability on Wikimedia Commons, became more free. The subsections on the talk page that had shown David Liuzzo's original maps, now show his most recent design.
Please read the discussion (also in other sections α, β, γ, δ, ε, ζ, η, θ) and in particular the arguments offered by the forementioned poll, while realizing some comments to have been made prior to updating the maps, and all prior to modifying the licences, before carefully reading the presentation of the currently open survey. You are invited to only then finally make up your mind and vote for only one option.
There mustnot be 'oppose' votes; if none of the options would be appreciated, you could vote for the option you might with some effort find least difficult to live with - rather like elections only allowing to vote for one of several candidates. Obviously, you are most welcome to leave a brief argumentation with your vote. Kind regards. — SomeHuman 7 Feb2007 20:04 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Sinupret IceTigers logo.xcf)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Sinupret IceTigers logo.xcf. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:18, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
Nasaspaceflight
[edit]Is nasaspaceflight.com not considered a reliable source? Because they are writing:
The FAWG manifest - which is used for processing milestone planning - confirms the changing of orbiters for STS-128/17A, which is now set to launch on August 6 via Discovery (OV-103). Originally, STS-128 was due to launch on Atlantis at the end of July.
I have not found the FAWG manifest on the NASA website. But it is an official NASA document even it's not published on the web, isn't it? Do we have reason to believe that nasaspaceflight.com is lying about the FAWG manifest? --Boivie (talk) 07:15, 29 November 2008 (UTC)
That's not what I'm saying in this case. A FAWG is a preliminary document. These changes will occur (the ones you are making) if they fly STS-125 in May. It is not official that they will yet and won't be until that piece of Hubble hardware on the ground is tested and they say they are good to go. If 125 is not May, 127 will be and no orbiter changes should be made as far as I know.--CapeCanaveral321 (talk) 17:34, 29 November 2008 (UTC)

Running the python script
[edit]Hi, Thank you for your feedback to my post on Henrik's talkpage.
I wanted to try the python scripts you have provided there, however when I try to run them on my computer I get an error: failed to import wikipedia module. Do I have to download wikipedia and more modules to be able to run those python scripts?
Thank you for your help.
zdunko
- Oh, yes. I forgot to mention about that. There are some scripts packaged as Pywikipediabot. The script I linked to use some of the Pywikipediabot scripts. You don't have to download wikipedia, only the pywikipediabot. --Boivie (talk) 09:28, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
Hi Boivie.
I am playing around with this pywikipedia script you suggested to me. When I run it on a set of articles it returns variables for each article in each of the languages, which is a set of numbers, like: 1093 or 0 if the given article does not exist in the given language.
My question is: is this number a size of this article in that language in bytes, or a sum of letters, or is it calculated in some other way? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zdunko (talk • contribs) 21:09, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
try:
article = GetArticle(en_wiki, en_word, wiki, lang) # Get entire article
article_size = len(article) # Calculate number of characters in article
interwiki_len = GetInterwikiLength(article) # Calculate number of characters of interwiki links
comment_len = GetCommentLength(article) # Calculate number of characters of comments
wt_article_size =(article_size - interwiki_len - comment_len) * lang_weight
- I think the number you are getting is wt_article_size, which should be number of letters in the article, without interwiki links and comments, and then multiplied by a language weight which is a measurement of how much infomration usually is stored in each character for that language, compared to English. --Boivie (talk) 04:54, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
Can you please provide a source, saying that Red Bull Salzburg is automatically qualified for the playoffs? /HeyMid (contributions) 09:46, 15 August 2010 (UTC)
The top four teams of each division qualify for the play-offs of the European Trophy at the final weekend tournament which will take place in two venues (Salzburg and Zell am See). The final tournament – Red Bulls Salute – will take place from September 3-5, 2010. EC Red Bull Salzburg is set in the top eight as they are playing host of the finals.
— European Trophy, [1]
It's not very clear in that text, but after seen this interview with Liket in HVTV it's obvious only three other teams will qualify from that division. --Boivie (talk) 10:33, 15 August 2010 (UTC)
- "EC Red Bull Salzburg is set in the top eight" answers my question. There are eight teams in the quarter finals, which means that Salzburg will be one of them. /HeyMid (contributions) 15:14, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite
[edit]Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Mercury images
[edit]A tag has been placed on Category:Mercury images requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". The article Project D has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Fails WP:NORG. Article blatantly promotional, business closed in 2013. https://www.marieclaire.co.uk/news/fashion-news/dannii-minogue-s-project-d-label-to-close-123719
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Rogermx (talk) 01:39, 12 September 2018 (UTC)
