The thing about creating articles about events is, we have a notability guideline for article subjects. For an article to merit inclusion, the event needs to have been covered my multiple reliable sources. Then, assuming the event is notable, the article has to be written as a neutral, factual and comprehensive encyclopedia entry. The encyclopedia does not exist to provide facts or advice to readers and it certainly is not a substitute or duplicate of the conference's own website. So far as the copyright on the text goes, you would need to explicitly release the content of the conference website under the GFDL or a similarly free license for it to be directly quoted to such a degree. See also What Wikipedia is not. The article has to be limited to providing notable facts about the conference, all sourced to independent reliable sources. The tone can be in no way promotional. IF you are connected to the conference organization you have a [{WP:COI|conflict of interest]] and may find it impossible to write and article so that it complies with all those guidelines. At the end of the day, if the conference is sufficiently noteworthy, someone else will eventually write and article about it. Mfield (Oi!) 22:03, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
