A tag has been placed on Draft:Utilicor Technologies, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hi, I'm not hiding that I work for the company that I am writing about. I am asking nicely what is correct process for creating a wikipedia entry for the company to meet the criteria. Is I remove everything past the coring process segment, would that qualify as neutral? Bogdanzewolf (talk) 20:15, 9 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing because your account is being used only for advertising or promotion.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Bbb23 (talk) 20:16, 9 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I was blocked because I tried to create an article about the company where I work. I understand that articles shouldn't come off as promotion and I asked for feedback from the admin that deleted the article about what appropriate changes would be. I didn't get a response, I was just automatically blocked. As I mentioned to that editor, I am happy to redact whatever is needed so that the article would meet the requirements for wikipedia. If as an employee I'm not allowed to write anything at all, then I will not try posting about the company again, but based on my understanding of the rules, that isn't outright banned. I am just looking for some clarification on what I can actually put about the company, I am not trying to circumvent the rules. Bogdanzewolf (talk) 20:23, 9 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The admin who deleted the article the first time is ComplexRational. The person you asked was the editor who tagged the article for deletion, and you did that today at 20:15 (see above on this page). You recreated the article at 20:01, 14 minutes before you asked anyone anything. I think you need to find somewhere else to promote your company.--Bbb23 (talk) 20:31, 9 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I apologize for recreating the article, I want to clarify that I'm not trying to be malicious. This is my personal account that I've had for years but this is my first time trying to create an article on Wikipedia. I recreated the article as I didn't understand why it disappeared and thought it was my mistake initially, then I noticed the message from TheManInTheBlackHat. But now I am asking for help. Am I allowed as an employee to make an entry about where I work and if I am, can anything be kept from what I wrote that would meet the wikipedia standards? If I am not, then I accept that, I'm just trying to get some clarity. Should I reach out regarding this to ComplexRational ?

If you're an employee of a company creating an article on said company, that's seen as a conflict on interest and requires disclosure. I would suggest avoid writing about the company you work at. TheManInTheBlackHat (Talk) 20:45, 9 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed, writing about your company is generally not advised. If you nonetheless intend to do so, and disclose your conflict of interest, your draft article must still adhere to the core policies of verifiability and neutral point of view – the page that was deleted read as a catalog of products as though they were trying to be sold, and would need to be entirely rewritten to have an encyclopedic tone. Moreover, you'll want to be sure that the company has significant coverage in independent reliable sources; a company webpage or tabloid coverage alone cannot sustain a Wikipedia article. For these reasons, conflict-of-interest creations are typically subject to review by an uninvolved editor at articles for creation. Complex/Rational 20:59, 9 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the feedback. If you can unblock me, I'll delete all the equipment and Utilibond sections, Once those are gone, is there any change I need to make to the remainder? To clarify, for disclosure, do I need to specify in the article itself as well that I am an employee? Ie, have a note at the bottom that says this was written by an employee of the company or just note when submitting the edit that I am a connected editor Bogdanzewolf (talk) 21:05, 9 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Since I work for a small company, it's doubtful a non-employee will ever make an entry. So while not encouraged, if it's not outright banned, I would appreciate if I can work with you to make a suitable entry. If I leave just the first paragraph about the company along with the "coring process" section which is company independent and used by other companies, would that be acceptable? For disclosure, would I put in the article itself that I work for the company. I thought I had made the disclosure when I said in the submit edit section that I am a connected user.
If that doesn't work, can I just make an article about "Keyhole coring" that would contain the coring process section as that makes no reference to the company
Bogdanzewolf (talk) 21:00, 9 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Since I work for a small company, it's doubtful a non-employee will ever make an entry. – that probably means that the necessary independent reliable sources probably don't exist, so any article would be declined prior to publication or deleted. I would discourage you from attempting to create it again, as even without promotional material, your comments suggest that the company is not notable.
I thought I had made the disclosure when I said in the submit edit section that I am a connected user.this guide explains some of the most important points, and most commonly a conflict of interest is declared on one's userpage with {{UserboxCOI}}. Mentioning your connection in article prose itself is unnecessary and not recommended.
can I just make an article about "Keyhole coring" – you should still be careful when referencing material connected to your company, but if this is an independent topic with substantial independent coverage (i.e., mainstream sources not necessarily affiliated with any one organization), it could be worth a try. You may wish to reference Help:Your first article and be mindful of the sourcing and language requirements of Wikipedia articles.
@Bbb23: your thoughts? Complex/Rational 21:14, 9 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see any benefit in unblocking the user just so he can promote his company or what they do. I also don't like the events that led up to the block and the user's initial post-block comments, which were self-servingly inaccurate.--Bbb23 (talk) 22:23, 9 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I apologize for the initial events coming off wrong. As I said, I had no malicious intention. Based on the combined feedback from the 3 moderators, I will scrap creating a company page. I would still like to post an article about the "Keyhole Process", that would be only the section called "the coring process" in the article I initially tried creating. It is not company specific, it is used widely in North America with a body of literature that references it and there is currently no entry on it. I understand why the article on Utilicor let to me getting blocked and I am requesting an unblock.
Bogdanzewolf (talk) 22:40, 9 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
To properly format an unblock request, which I believe should be reviewed by an uninvolved administrator, please use {{Unblock}}. Your case would be most compelling if you demonstrate understanding of what has happened and an example of the text you intend to contribute. Complex/Rational 01:18, 10 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
