Hi, Bobbyq11, Welcome to Wikipedia!

I hope you like this place — I sure do — and want to stay. Before getting too in-depth, you may want to read about the Five pillars of Wikipedia and simplified ruleset. If you need help on how to title new articles check out the naming conventions, and for help on formatting the pages visit the manual of style. If you need help look at Wikipedia:Help and the FAQ , plus if you can't find your answer there, check the Village Pump (for Wikipedia related questions) or the Reference Desk (for general questions)! There's still more help at the Tutorial and Policy Library. Plus, don't forget to visit the Community Portal. And if you have any more questions after that, feel free to post them on my user talk page or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will be by to help you shortly.

Additional tips

[edit]

Here's some extra tips to help you get around in the 'pedia!

  • If you want to play around with your new Wiki skills the Sandbox is for you.
  • You can sign your name using three tildes (~). If you use four, you can add a datestamp too. Five will get you the datestamp only.
  • You may want to add yourself to the new user log.
  • If you ever think a page or image should be deleted, please list it at the votes for deletion page. There is also a votes for undeletion page if you want to retrieve something that you think should not have been deleted.
  • If you're still entirely confused, or would like to get a better grasp of your wikipedia skills, and you have an IRC client (or don't mind getting one), check out the Bootcamp. It's not what it sounds like, but it is fun and can help you with your editing skills.
  • If you're bored and want to find something to do, try the Random page button in the sidebar, or check out the Open Task message in the Community Portal.

License tagging for Image:Comingsoon.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Comingsoon.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 20:07, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

Image:Comingsoon.jpg listed for deletion

[edit]

An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, Image:Comingsoon.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Notability

[edit]

Regarding Tom Thurlow, the article claims that he was featured in "The Daily Express, The Mail on Sunday, The Sun, The Mirror, ITV News, Daily Star, Pick Me Up, Richard Hammond's 5 O'Clock Show, BBC Radio, Five News, and numerous items of local media." The swimmer (yourself, perhaps) was in the Echo. Now, I reckon the swimming is more impressive than selling a few books myself, but the fact remains that to get an entry on Wikipedia a person must be notable and covered by a range of media. See WP:BIO, WP:RS. --kingboyk 21:36, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the messages, I see you were acting in good faith. --kingboyk 21:53, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh by the way, if Chris Street is you, or if you want to keep a copy in your user area anyway, I'm quite happy to give you a copy of the deleted text. Just don't get posting it as an article until he/you has made the Olympics or something like that :) --kingboyk 22:02, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Usage

[edit]

When placing the usage, i think you mean usage0506 for the current field as the up-to-date usage is from the 2005-2006 period. Simply south 19:44, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Ulink Bus Logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

PLEASE NOTE:

  • I am a bot, and will therefore not be able to answer your questions.
  • I will remove the request for deletion if the file is used in an article once again.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
