Proposed deletion of Potts Theory

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Potts Theory, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Does not appear to be notable

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. you may find more useful information

[edit]

Potts Theory is not a Scientifically peer reviewed theory of Dyselexia so your entry on the dyslexia article will be deleted, unless you can provide scientific journal evidence to prove otherwise.

You may find the following web sites and web pages have some information which may interest you. http://www.visualspatial.org/index.htm http://giftedservices.com.au/handouts/index.html http://www.learningstyles.apduk.org/powerofvt1.htm http://www.apduk.org/

References

[edit]

Hi there. I noticed some of your contributions to Potts Theory - it's great that you are adding to Wikipedia, but I thought I could explain a bit about the need for good references.

When you add information, it is vital to give a source - and it must be a verifiable and reliable source, like a newspaper article or book.

This means that the reader can, if they wish, check the facts for themselves.

We've got to try and make sure that all the information that we provide is correct.

As for how to make them - see following section. For more help, you can either;

  • Leave a message on my own talk page; OR
  • Use a {{helpme}} - please create a new section at the end of your own talk page, put {{helpme}}, and ask your question - remember to 'sign' your name by putting ~~~~ at the end; OR
  • Talk to us live.

Best wishes,  Chzz  ►  00:05, 27 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

How references work

[edit]

Simple references

[edit]

These require two parts;

a)
Chzz is 98 years old.<ref> "The book of Chzz", Aardvark Books, 2009. </ref>

He likes tea. <ref> [http://www.nicecupofteaandasitdown.com Tea website] </ref>
b) A section called "References" with the special code "{{reflist}}";
== References ==
{{reflist}}

(an existing article is likely to already have one of these sections)

To see the result of that, please look at user:chzz/demo/simpleref. Edit it, and check the code; perhaps make a test page of your own, such as user:YOURUSERNAME/reftest and try it out.

Named references

[edit]
Chzz was born in 1837, <ref name="MyBook">
"The book of Chzz", Aardvark Books, 2009.
</ref> in Footown.<ref name="MyBook"/>

Note that the second usage has a / (and no closing ref tag). This needs a reference section as above; please see user:chzz/demo/namedref to see the result.

Citation templates

[edit]

You can put anything you like between <ref> and </ref>, but using citation templates makes for a neat, consistent look;

Chzz has 37 Olympic medals. <ref> {{Citation
 | last = Smith
 | first = John
 | title = Olympic medal winners of the 20th century
 | publication-date = 2001
 | publisher = [[Cambridge University Press]]
 | page = 125
 | isbn = 0-521-37169-4
}}
</ref>

Please see user:chzz/demo/citeref to see the result.

For more help and tips on that subject, see user:chzz/help/refs.
