It's a daunting idea. I'd recommend you get some more experience with different areas of Wikipedia before running for adminship. Generally the community has pretty high standards for whom they elect. Hmm.... how to get started...

Tell you what- take a look at this page: Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User. There you could find an older, more experienced user who would be happy to guide you as you make a start here. That's how I got started- my mentor helped me to understand the basic policies and rules, and helped me out of some sticky situations whenever I screwed up. :) Those were some good times...
