Shortcuts to WP content policy please

[edit]

Hi Blythwood thanks for your review of Wiveton Hall Please can you point me to the relevant WP content policy as it will be useful in the future. Ad copy and the content policy specifying a source must have a credited author whose credibility we can assess. That last will be particularly useful I think . Thank you for the improvements to the Petalophyllum page!

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on American Greatness requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from amgreatness.com/2016/07/21/declaration-independence-conservative-movement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. • @DrStrauss:, aargh, what a mess. This started out as a decent article but it rapidly became a warzone of biased/COI editing and I lost interest. I can't face recreating it, but just as comment, it's often worth looking at copyvio articles in case you can revert to a functional version. Blythwood (talk) 04:18, 14 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

New Page Reviewer Newsletter

[edit]
Hello Blythwood/2017, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!

Backlog update:

  • The new page backlog is currently at 14304 pages. We have worked hard to decrease from over 22,000, but more hard work is needed! Please consider reviewing even just a few pages a day.
  • Currently there are 532 pages in the backlog that were created by non-autoconfirmed users before WP:ACTRIAL. The NPP project is undertaking a drive to clear these pages from the backlog before they hit the 90 day Google index point. Please consider reviewing a few today!

Technology update:

  • The Wikimedia Foundation is currently working on creating a new filter for page curation that will allow new page patrollers to filter by extended confirmed status. For more information see: T175225

General project update:

  • On 14 September 2017 the English Wikipedia began the autoconfirmed article creation trial. For a six month period, creation of articles in the mainspace of the English Wikipedia will be restricted to users with autoconfirmed status. New users who attempt article creation will now be redirected to a newly designed landing page.
  • Before clicking on a reference or external link while reviewing a page, please be careful that the site looks trustworthy. If you have a question about the safety of clicking on a link, it is better not to click on it.
  • To keep up with the latest conversation on New Pages Patrol or to ask questions, you can go to Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers and add it to your watchlist.

If you wish to opt-out of future mailings, go here. TonyBallioni (talk) 02:16, 19 September 2017 (UTC) [reply]

Thanks for reviewing

[edit]

Just wanted to thank you for reviewing and contributing to Dissotis rotundifolia. For future reference, what exactly is a taxonbar and should I add it to plant articles I start? Pagliaccious 12:39, 20 September 2017 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pagliaccious (talkcontribs)

Third opinion request to dissolve user dispute

[edit]

Hello Blythwood,

as I found you to be a member of the Wikiproject Statistics, I would like to ask you to state your pov on an article related to probability.

In the article https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Dice

I am about to change the term average to expected value for throwing a 6 sided dice. My pov is that expected value is the proper term, User Oknazevad assumes average is the suitable term.

Could you please have a look at the Talk page related to the article? It would be nice if you state on the Talk page, which term > expected value or average would you prefer?

Breitachklamm

[edit]

Hello, thanks for adding additional information to my recent de -> en translation of "Breitachklamm". Since English is only my second language, please feel free to correct or improve the text. Regards from Stuttgart, Germany, --Pjt56 (talk) 18:59, 23 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

beetle names

[edit]

Many thanks .Here is the position Actenicerus (Actenicerus) siaelandicus (O. F. Muller, 1764) in Fauna Europaea so should be redirected. Will you fix this please. Not sure how.

Cartodere bifasciatus is C. bifasciatus in wikispecies and Cartodere (Sub genus Aridius) bifasciata (Reitter, 1877) in Fauna Europaea so only the gender is incorrect.Since Fauna Europaea accesses the distribution and the Fauna Europaea nomina are accepted by most I will use this from now on. So many new placements now many of them temporary. Thanks again and best regards Robert aka Notafly (talk) 16:05, 24 September 2017 (UTC) PS More to add to these stubs. If you find more errors or inconsistencies please let me know[reply]

Spintharus

[edit]

Hey just a heads up, the wikidata page you edited, Spintharus (Q3966783), seems to have been about a different Spintharus than the Corinthian architect. Umimmak (talk) 01:39, 30 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
