Your submission at Articles for creation: Damien Haas (December 24)
[edit]- Hey so, I talked with @Frost (formerly known as Ae245), who denied the last submission, and I ran the sources by them. They said that my sources were fine with their specific uses under claims, specifically under the guidelines of WP:RSPYT & WP:PRIMARY for the YouTube sources and WP:DOB & WP:ABOUTSELF for the Twitter source. I followed WP:PRIMARY strictly. I will provide our conversation below:
- Now, I have read over the list of credible sources and their guidelines, but I do have a question pertaining to YouTube. If I were citing a video of an interview, is that still considered unreliable due to it coming from YouTube or is it acceptable. I had a hard time understanding if that met the guidelines or not. YouTube is the only source for this interview, by the way.

- For the purpose of establishing notability, which is required to see if an article should be on Wikipedia, a YouTube interview isn't acceptable. For verifying claims, the reliability is based on who uploaded the video (WP:RSPYT). Frost 10:25, 21 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
- It is for verifying claims. The channel that uploaded the video is Anthony Padilla as part of his "I Spent a Day With" series. I would be using the video as a source for Damien's claim on his autism diagnosis. Here is a link to the video at the timestamp that I am citing for this claim: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLslqDpPT-g&t=546s BlueSpikez 00:24, 22 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
- It should be okay, as long as WP:PRIMARY is followed strictly. Mentioning the exact words and the timestamp in the citation might be useful. Happy editing. Frost 05:31, 22 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
- Thank you so much! Now, I do have a couple final questions. Reviewing the guidelines for citing Twitter, is the Twitter source still unreliable for his birth place or is it fine? Again, I was kinda struggling to fully understand the guidelines and I want to double check that there aren't any fatal citing errors. Also, is 7 sources with 22 total uses enough? BlueSpikez 10:40, 23 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
- It can be used to verify birthdate/birthplace. See WP:DOB ("A verified social media account of an article subject saying about themselves something along the lines of "today is my 50th birthday" may fall under self-published sources for purposes of reporting a full date of birth. It may be usable if there is no reason to doubt it.") and WP:ABOUTSELF ("Self-published and questionable sources may be used as sources of information about themselves, usually in articles about themselves or their activities"). Depends on the quality of the sources. One good source is better than ten weak ones. Frost 14:04, 23 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
