Page Blanking

[edit]

On 19-Jan, you blanked Mercenary for Justice. Blanking pages is generally considered a bad idea. I recognize that the previous content was a hoax, but in cases like this you should replace the entry or follow the deletion procedures. I've changed the article to a stub. Thanks! -- JLaTondre 16:40, 21 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Userboxes

[edit]

Hi. I've noticed that you're making use of political or religious userboxes on your user page. They can be a nifty way to share about one's personal preferences, but I realized, after a while, that they often detract from the real purpose of Wikipedia, that is, writing an encyclopedia. I'm inviting you to consider these words from Jimbo Wales, the site operator:

I wonder if you might consider simply removing your political/religious/etc. userboxes and asking others to do the same. This seems to me to be the best way to quickly and easily end the userbox wars.
Userboxes of a political or, more broadly, polemical, nature are bad for the project. They are attractive to the wrong kinds of people, and they give visitors the wrong idea of what it means to be a Wikipedian.
I think rather than us having to go through a mass deletion (which is what is likely to happen if the userbox fad doesn't go away), it will be better to simply change the culture, one person at a time. Will you help me?

Thank you for your time.

anti pope

[edit]

Hi.

You might be aware that there has been some contention around the use of userboxes. There has also been a new speedy deletion criterion added with regard to templates.

A box you are using, Template:User Antipope was recently tagged as such. I've removed the tag, but would ask that you {{subst:}} the template. You may also wish to contribute to Wikipedia:WikiProject Userboxes if you are not already.

License tagging for Image:OtterbeinCampus.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:OtterbeinCampus.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 21:06, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

someone in Youngstown, Ohio to help me out with a couple of projects. It will involve the use of a camera and a tripod. If you are interested in discussing this please drop me a line. Carptrash 15:49, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about the delay in getting back to you. There are, inside the Mahoning County Courthouse a series of murals by Edwin Blashfield that depict Lady Justice in various times and places in history. "Remote Antiquity, Classical Antiquity, Middle Ages, and Modern Times. The form used is called a pendentive - or rather is painted on the pendentive [whatever]. Here is a picture that i took, but mine were all taken without a tripod and i am trusting that you can do better with one. These can be used in the Blashfield article, which seriously needs a photo gallery and i'd like to use them in a section i'm working on for Lady Justice on how she is portrayed in American Art. Also, there is on the roof the sculpture pictured to the right. One of the figures is labeled JVS, which could stand for Justice. That's the good news. The . . ..... other news is i'd like for someone to talk to the building folks and get permission and then get up on the roof [the custodian will have keys, but won't be able to give you permission] and look at the work and see if he/she can find a signature on the work. I need to know who made it. I'm working on the definitive article on J. Massey Rhind and suspect that he did it, but need proof. Feel free to ask any questions that come to mind. I am new on WikiProject Cities. I have added considerable content to the first city I am working on, which happens to be the city of my residence, Taichung City. Would you mind taking a few minutes to look it over and leave comments on how you think I can make it better to bring it up to WikiProject Cities standards in a section of the discussion page for the city’s article page that I have set up.

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Undersiege.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Undersiege.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. I've nominated List of films with similar themes and release dates, an article you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but in this particular case I do not feel that List of films with similar themes and release dates satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion; I have explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of films with similar themes and release dates (3rd nomination) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of List of films with similar themes and release dates during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Fair use rationale for Image:Todayyoudie dvd.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Todayyoudie dvd.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Image source problem with Image:Todayyoudie dvd.jpg

[edit]
Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Todayyoudie dvd.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 14:04, 31 August 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- SilentAria talk 14:04, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Asylumlogo.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Asylumlogo.gif.

If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Project FMF (talk) 22:30, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of M&M's World

[edit]

I have nominated M&M's World, an article you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/M&M's World. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. -- JediLofty Talk to meFollow me 10:16, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:City seal.gif)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:City seal.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 06:11, 1 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WP:FILMS Questionnaire

[edit]

As a member of WikiProject Films, you are invited to take part in the project's first questionnaire. It is intended to gauge your participation and views on the project. At the conclusion of the questionnaire, the project's coordinators will use the gathered feedback to find new ways to improve the project and reach out to potential members. The results of the questionnaire will be published in next month's newsletter. If you know of any editors who have edited film articles in the past, please invite them to take part in the questionnaire. Please stop by and take a few minutes to answer the questions so that we can continue to improve our project. Happy editing!

NowCommons: File:YCC 039.jpg

[edit]

File:YCC 039.jpg is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:YCC 039.jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:YCC 039.jpg]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Blue80! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 183 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

  1. Patrick Ungaro - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
  2. Brook Jacoby - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

The article Lincoln Knolls has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Neighborhoods generally don't meet the requirements of WP:N, no mention of notability no references

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Jay Davis, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. — Mikehawk10 (talk) 03:53, 26 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
