You serious?
That announcement about the no-old-Poke's-on-local-dex thing is grinding my gears. What kind of a game is this? Are you sure that's legit? And do you think Pokemon is about to jump the shark? 2Ð ℳǣ$₮ℝʘ talk, sign 18:25, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
Romanization for words of English origin
On the MOS:JP talk page, a discussion has been started about including or not including romanizations for words of English origin, such as Fainaru Fantajī in Final Fantasy (ファイナルファンタジー, Fainaru Fantajī) (for the sake of simplicity, I called this case "words of English origin", more information on semantics here).
Over the course of a month, it has become apparent that both the parties proposing to include or not include those romanizations cannot be convinced by the arguments or guidelines brought up by the other side. Therefore, a compromise is trying to be found that will satisfy both parties. One suggestion on a compromise has been given already, but it has not found unanimous agreement, so additional compromises are encouraged to be suggested.
One universally accepted point was to bring more users from the affected projects in to help achieve consensus, and you were one of those selected in the process.
What this invitation is:
- You should give feedback on the first suggested compromise and are highly encouraged to provide other solutions.
What this invitation is not:
- This is not a vote on including or excluding such romanizations.
- This is not a vote on compromises either.
It would be highly appreciated if you came over to the MOS:JP talk page and helped find a solution. Thank you in advance. Prime Blue (talk) 11:38, 8 August 2010 (UTC)
"Reliable Source"
Hey dude,
Why do I keep butting heads with Wiki editors over DS being a reliable source or not? They are respected in the industry by publishers, developers, and PR. What can I do to validate this? Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hitman0769 (talk • contribs) 02:31, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
- Some ways:
- Be under an umbrella reliable source - for example, 1UP.com is reliable in part because it is under UGO Networks, a reliable source.
- Have a criteria for your articles. Every article must be gone over by other editors in order to ensure validity and quality.
- Be referenced by reliable sources.
- Have reliable authors.
- The problem right now is, though, that you and the other two are single purpose accounts, that have only edited Wikipedia for the purpose of adding this web site. That constitutes link spam, regardless of if you have a conflict of interests. - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Now, he can figure out the length of things easily. 03:16, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
License tagging for File:Donkeykongcountryreturns.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Donkeykongcountryreturns.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.
For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 23:05, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

Re: Type categories
I've only done type categories for Pokémon articles with 10 or more representatives for that type. It's just an experiment, in the event that the section becomes vast enough to warrant separate categories for better navigation. - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan image
I was wondering, since Hitmonlee is in an awkward pose, if you could make an image of their Red and Blue depictions, which shows a clear image of Hitmonlee. - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Now, he can figure out the length of things easily. 01:41, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
- [4] - This image shows a much clearer depiction. Rather than using the most recent depiction, it is best to use the depiction that more clearly shows the character, as shown in the decision to use Super Street Fighter II images for characters from that game rather than the images made for Street Fighter IV. - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Now, he can figure out the length of things easily. 01:50, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
- It's awkward to only see half of the Pokémon. Even if the artwork from Red, where it is kicking, were used, it would be a better depiction: [5] (obviously a better image than the one I just provided of course, sans background) His appearance is much more obvious to the reader, as opposed to appearing in a very different way to one who was not aware of the series. On your comment on anime versus games, as long as Sugimori drew it (which he did - the image I provided earlier is from him, and is the official anime artwork), it should be acceptable. Exceptions should be made to provide the best possible depiction of a character. Originally, Cammy used an image from Street Fighter IV that depicted her turned away, but her head turned around and facing the reader. You could see several defining features, but it was decided that using this image would be detrimental to the understanding of the character. The image used currently has it to the side, and could very well mislead readers into misinterpreting its physical appearance. - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Now, he can figure out the length of things easily. 02:08, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
- Uniformity is not an acceptable argument - we can't do something for the sole purpose of having consistently similar articles. Articles should be designed in a way that improves them to the absolute maximum that they can be. It's not as trivial as an eye - the eye may be the only thing missing, but Hitmonlee is a distinct Pokémon that does not resemble human beings beyond being vaguely human-shaped. Therefore, while a side view may be acceptable for a human, which readers should understand, they may not understand what the whole of its appearance may be in such a pose. The reason we have used the FR/LG images for the most part is because they are of acceptable quality, whereas in the case of this, Hitmonlee is not in an ideal pose, which would suggest to us that a clearer depiction be used in its stead. - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Remake
If this is what you are referring to, this isn't a consensus at all. It talks about what games should get there own articles. Only one person mentioned where they should go in the template. That's not a consensus at all. --Shadow (talk) 14:57, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
- So that's why it was changed in the first place without discussion? A consensus was never reached so there is nothing wrong with putting it back to how it originally was. --Shadow (talk) 15:13, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

Nintendo task force membership update
It's that time again to update membership status with the Nintendo task force, which we periodically do to keep our membership up-to-date.
All participants have been placed on an "Inactive participants" list. To confirm that you're still a member of the Nintendo task force, simply go to Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Nintendo#Members and move your name from the "Inactive participants" list to the bottom of the "Active participants" list. If you are no longer an active member in the task force, you may simply remove your name altogether. On 23 December, all entries under the "Inactive participants" list will be removed. Hopefully you can stay with us and continue to work on Nintendo-related articles. Regards, MuZemike delivered by MuZebot 17:27, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

I forgot to respond. I'd like to help, but Fuchs seems to be looking for specific reception for various things, such as graphics, sound, etc. As can be seen in my recent edits, I'm not accustomed to that yet; I need to work on Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire first as practice. - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Pokeman
No need to personalise this discussion. It is not about what I understand. It is about the general reader, who needs to know in the very first sentence that this article is about games. Not everyone in the world understands what Pokeman is. Mariagomez39 (talk) 22:06, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
- Don't mean to be tedious, but it would be desirable to give the reader the clear idea in the intro sentence that we are talking about a game. The fact that "Game Freak" is involved in the franchise doesn't quite do it. By the way the type of game would be relevant as context...video game...board game....other...all of the above... No need to reply further; i shall not pursue this matter, but appreciate your willingness to bring it up at your discussion group. cheers. Mariagomez39 (talk) 22:34, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
Diddy Kong
Okay but either way, it's all set in the Mario Universe making him a Mario character, just that he's more prominent in the Donkey Kong series which is a spin-off to the Mario series. Plus if the article about him means anything, it tells that he is mst likely DK Jr. which would mean he's even more apart of the Mario series. But being a notable character and having appeared in multiple Mario spin-off games classifys him as a supporting character more within the Mario series. --Victory93 (talk) 05:23, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

Hi, Bws2cool. I have a question; sorry to bother you. Is the Pokemon WikiProject associated with Bulbapedia in any way?
