Ok, but can you tell me what I can do?
[edit]I did never mean to use my userpage for a blog. But I wanna know what can I do to my page instead? I want it to have info about me, but how can I do it without having it as a blog? I never really meant to have it as an blog, honest. TheBlazikenMaster 11:28, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
Your VandalProof Application
[edit]Dear Blah0401,
Thank you for applying for VandalProof! (VP). As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact the just released 1.3 version has even more power. Because of this we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that at this time you do not meet the minimum requirement of 250 edits to mainspace articles (see under main here). Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again soon. Thank you for your interest in VandalProof. Daniel.Bryant 02:50, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
- Hi there. I recently received a talk page message from you stating a problem. Since the message above has been posted, am I correct in assuming this problem no longer exists? Thanks. —Xyrael / 21:31, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
Thanks and a request
[edit]Thanks for closing the case - would you please remove my email address and NewtonFallsLeader's real name and address from the emails you posted on the AMA page. I do not want my email address posted on Wikipedia (spam and other concerns). Thanks again for your work on this - sorry it didn't get resolved. Ruhrfisch 00:55, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

help
[edit]{{helpme}}
On the Milton S. Hershey while looking for a picture to use, i did find a picture of his wife. My problem is that i'm not sure if I can submit the picture to be used because of copyright issues. His wife died in 1915 so the picture had to be taken before 1923 and be in the public domain but, the picture is hosted on the Hershey company website and i'm not sure if that means that a new copyright would take place. So can some one who knows more about this issue help me out? The image can be found on this website. Thanks in advance for any help.

- The company hasn't created a "new" copyright by publishing it on their website unless that's the first time the image has been published. Works are in the public domain if they were first published before 1923. Unfortunately, I have no idea whether that was the case. By the way, the Hershey Trust's website includes a more complete, though smaller photo of her. (The original photo might not've originally have that sepia tone to it.) – Minh Nguyễn (talk, contribs) 09:57, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
Well, the "Nguyễn" article gives the IPA pronunciation, but I'll try my own explanation: The Ng is like the first ng in "sing-along". When you pronounce "sing-along" normally, there isn't a hard g sound, and likewise there isn't a hard g sound in Nguyễn. Also, notice that there isn't a n sound anywhere in "sing-along". It's hard for most English speakers to isolate that ng sound, so you can probably get away with sticking a brief ə in front. Now try pronouncing "əng-wee-in", pronouncing "wee" and "in" as you would the English words. (Take care not to insert a hard g sound.)
That's the word nguyên in Vietnamese, and in the context of saying someone's name, I think you'd be fine there. But nguyên means "whole", so to get that tilde (~), you have to get the tone correct. Say "əng-wee-in" again, but this time as if you were asking someone that incredulously. ("Nguyễn?! Nguyễn, you say? Hah!") The last touch is to insert a glottal stop just before the "in". It's like the unwritten sound that comes out before the vowels in an emphatic "uh-oh!"
Anyhow, that's the northern pronunciation; you can listen to another Wikipedian's southern pronunciation here. It's pretty much the same, but the tone is completely different, so there's no glottal stop. Hope this helps.

Oh, and I should note that many Nguyễns will go by "win" or something similar (I've heard things as egregious as "nwig-win" and "en-guy-en" before), so you probably don't have to stress about it, unless you want to impress them. :^)

Hello, Blah0401. An automated process has found and will an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, and thus is being used under fair use that is in your userspace. The image (Image:MiltonHersheySchool.gif) was found at the following location: User:Blah0401/Sandbox. This image or media will be removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. This does not necessarily mean that the image is being deleted, or that the image is being removed from other pages. It is only being removed from the page mentioned above. All mainspace instances of this image will not be affected Please find a free image or media to replace it with, and or remove the image from your userspace. Image copyright problem with Image:Aventuralovehate.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading Image:Aventuralovehate.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 06:23, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (Image:ElephantInTheSandCover.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:ElephantInTheSandCover.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:18, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

Non-free rationale for File:Revit 8 screen shot.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Revit 8 screen shot.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
