GAN March 2014 Backlog Drive
The March 2014 GAN Backlog Drive has begun and will end on April 1, 2014! Sent by Dom497 on behalf of MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:01, 1 March 2014 (UTC)
Team of the Week
We used to include team of the week in honours section, but due to the dire start of the season, our players didn't make the TotW. Shall we start doing it again? IJA (talk) 15:11, 1 March 2014 (UTC)
- I had a look the other day but it doesn't seem that the Football League do it in the same way this season - or not that I can find on their site anyway. All I could find was one team for the entire football league - and Clough is the only one I could see that had featured in that since January. Unless you can locate anything else? Bladeboy1889 (talk) 16:47, 1 March 2014 (UTC)
- Maguire got in the TotW the same week as Clough. IJA (talk) 17:21, 1 March 2014 (UTC)

Reference Errors on 7 March
Hello, I'm ReferenceBot. I have automatically detected that an edit performed by you may have introduced errors in referencing. It is as follows:
- On the Ben Davies (footballer born 1981) page, your edit caused a broken reference name (help). (Fix | Ask for help)

Disambiguation link notification for March 9
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited George Dewis, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Hinkley (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Ben Starosta released again
Hi Bladeboy 1889,
I see you regularly update details on Ben Starosta page. In case you dont know, according to the website of his old club in the Philippines, he has been released from the club.

Starosta
Hi Bladeboy
I'm Ben Starosta's Mum.
I've just made change to his page and notice that you have changed it back again.
Can I point out he has played 26 games for Global 15 last season and 11 this season and has scored 5 goals 3 last season and two this season.
Can you please make the changes I have pointed out and please note that any changes I make in future should be taken seriously and if you wish to query them you should contact either Ben or I first please.
We are grateful that you take the trouble to keep the page up to date but you can always contact us directly to verify any information.
Thank you Blademum (talk) 10:27, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
- Hi - the issue reason is that according to the Global F.C. website the extra games were in the Singapore Cup - the standard notation for the article infobox is only to list league games (and goals). That said the prose needs updating to reflect the extra games and goals. I'll try and complete a year by year summary of performance although finding the stats listed for some of the non-English leagues isn't always easy. Bladeboy1889 (talk) 10:45, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
- Ill send the necessary information over to you.Its important that we have it correct on here as Ben is now looking for another club, — Preceding unsigned comment added by Blademum (talk • contribs) 11:18, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
- If you can find links to sites that carry the detailed match by match stats then post the links on here and I'll incorporate them. Bladeboy1889 (talk) 11:23, 26 March 2014 (UTC)

Updates
Hi mate, sorry I've not been active recently, I've been busy. There are a few updates we need to make such as the Adidas kit for next season, round off the season, missing out on play offs, Maguire in League One team of the year, new contracts being offered to Maguire, Flynn and Hill, United making contact with Ched Evans ect. I'll find some time tomorrow evening to help you make these updates if you want? Then we need to prepare making next season's article which we can sandbox to be going on with. Regards IJA (talk) 19:25, 28 April 2014 (UTC)
- I was going to post about this on the Blades taskforce page - I've set up a sandbox and some articles for the new season and the juniors that have been on the bench so that we can start the articles now rather than trying to do them in a rush once they make a league appearance. They are here: Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Sheffield United task force/New articles - if we edit them like any other article when stuff comes up in the press then nothing will get lost and we can move them into the main space when ready. I've set up links for some others but I think we should leave them unitl they at least get a bench place otherwise we could be left with a bunch of unused articles. As for the stuff you mention - the kit needs to go in the next season article, as do any new contracts when they're signed, as for the contact with Evans I'm not sure it's notable at the moment as its not clear what has actually gone on apart from some press speculation - I think we should leave it until something concrete happens. We can make start on the other articles though.Bladeboy1889 (talk) 19:53, 28 April 2014 (UTC)
- Awesome mate, I'll get to work on them soon-ish. Also, I've kind broke reference 7 on Harry Maguire, could you fix it please? I can't haha IJA (talk) 21:08, 29 April 2014 (UTC)

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Conor Coady may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

BEN SIGNED FOR NUNEATON
Hi
Ben has now signed for Nuneaton.
Do you want me to to add new text or can you do it?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/27327705
let me know
Julie Blademum (talk) 12:52, 12 May 2014 (UTC)
- I'll update it later tonight when I get home from work. Bladeboy1889 (talk) 16:08, 12 May 2014 (UTC)
Miller, Freeman and Davies
Miller signed a two year deal with the option of a third year, we've chosen not to activate the third year in his contract. Freeman and Davies signed outside the normal transfer window and in the emergency loan window so the can only stay for a maximum of 93 days. Regards IJA (talk) 08:32, 16 May 2014 (UTC)
- Good points - I see the retained list is out if you want to update (I'm at work so a bit busy) - we should try and 'round up' their time at the Blades. I think we should take Porter off the squad for now as I get the feeling he may well leave anyway. Bladeboy1889 (talk) 09:56, 16 May 2014 (UTC)
Selahattin Baki
Think he's notable enough to have his own article? We could even mention his gang related past? IJA (talk) 12:40, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
- Hmm - not sure if the wikipolice won't shout notability at you I'm afraid. If you can find a couple more articles about him somewhere to back it up then I'd say give it a go. Bladeboy1889 (talk) 14:56, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
- Will do at some point mate but I'm off to the pub shortly haha. IJA (talk) 16:30, 18 May 2014 (UTC)

Leeds meetup
Hi mate, I don't know if you're aware but there is a wikimedia meet up in Leeds this Saturday (14 June) if you're interested. Hopefully you can make it. Regards IJA (talk) 17:07, 11 June 2014 (UTC)
I have been asked to remove and update certain personal and some incorrect information about Nick Blackman's early life and history. This is why I removed them. Please can you revert it back to how I altered it. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to message me. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dolly59 (talk • contribs) 08:54, 27 July 2014 (UTC)
- WP is based on published and verifiable content not what people may or may not want to include for personal reasons. The article in the Jewish Chronicle clearly states Blackman's heritage and his historical appearance in the Maccabiah games. There is a picture of him so there is no ambiguity about who the article is referring to. Therefore it is factual content based on reliable published sources and there is no reason to remove it unless you can provide sources that refute it. I appreciate you are a newcomer to Wikipedia but the site just doesn't work like that. Thanks Bladeboy1889 (talk) 09:36, 27 July 2014 (UTC)
Away kit
Good news, I got some Mexican bloke to make the away kit for the article. [1], [2], [3], [4], [5]. One problem, I can't seem to add it to the article properly. Can you help out mate? IJA (talk) 17:19, 30 July 2014 (UTC)
- Sorted it now. IJA (talk) 17:31, 30 July 2014 (UTC)
- I'm not sure the arms are correct, might need some HTML magic to sort it out. IJA (talk) 17:36, 30 July 2014 (UTC)
- Good work - I'd done the home one and was going to work on the away one but work is taking up all of my time at the moment. Agree that the sleeves might need a bit of work as they don't quite match but it'll do for now. I'll have a look at it in the next week or so. Then there's just all of the historic kits to do as well... Bladeboy1889 (talk) 11:00, 31 July 2014 (UTC)

WikiProject Good articles Future GAN Backlog Drive
Hello everyone! Hope you've all been having a great summer!
TheQ Editor recently proposed the idea of having another Backlog Drive in either September/October or November/December of this year. For those of you who have participated in the past two drives you know I was the one who organized them, however, come September, this will be my most important year in school so I will not be able to coordinate this drive (if it happens). TheQ Editor has volunteered to be a coordinator for the drive. If any of you would like to co-coordinator, please notify TheQ Editor on his talk page.
If you would be interested in participating in a Backlog Drive sometime before the end of this year, please notify TheQ Editor. Also, make sure to specify what month(s) work best for you.
At the time this message was sent out, the backlog was at 520 nominations. Since May, the backlog has been steadily increasing and we are currently near an all time high. Even though the backlog will not disappear over one drive, this drive can lead to several others which will (hopefully) lead to the day where there is no longer a backlog.
As always, the more participants, the better, and everyone is encouraged to participate!

Chris Basham
His table is a mess and doesn't add up. Not only that, everything is in the wrong order with season coming before club. Also I'm unable to add a total for Bolton. It is a mess. HELP! IJA (talk) 12:45, 19 August 2014 (UTC)
- Also Doyle's table seems incomplete and I'm struggling to figure out where it is wrong. I only get him making 51 appearances least season but soccerbase has 52. IJA (talk) 12:52, 19 August 2014 (UTC)
- It might also be worth mentioning that McGinn's table is a piece of s*** too. IJA (talk) 13:09, 19 August 2014 (UTC)
- Am on holiday at the moment. I'll have a look in the next few weeks and try and tidy up a lot of the player pages. Bladeboy1889 (talk) 20:20, 19 August 2014 (UTC)

GA Cup
Hello everyone! We hope you have all been having a great summer!
As we all know, the recent GAN Backlog Drives have not had any big impact on the backlog. Because of that, me (Dom497), Figureskatingfan, and TheQ Editor have worked on an idea that could possibly finally put a dent into the massive backlog. Now, I will admit, the idea isn't entirely ours as we have took the general idea of the WikiCup and brought it over to WikiProject Good Articles. But anyways, here's what we have in mind:
For all of you that do not know what the WikiCup is, it is an annual competition between several editors to see who can get the most Good Articles, Featured Article's, Did You Know's, etc. Based of this, we propose to you the GA Cup. This competition will only focus on reviewing Good articles.
For more info on the proposal, click here. As a FYI, the proposal page is not what the final product will look like (if you do go ahead with this idea). It will look very similar to WikiCup's page(s).
The discussion for the proposal will take place here. Please let us know if you are interested, have any concerns, things to consider, etc.

WikiProject Good Articles - GA Cup
WikiProject Good articles is holding a new competition, the GA Cup, from October 1, 2014 - March 28, 2015. The Cup will be based on reviewing Good article nominations; for each review, points will be awarded with bonuses for older nominations, longer articles and comprehensive reviews. All participants will start off in one group and the highest scoring participants will go through to the second round. At the moment six rounds are planned, but this may change based on participant numbers. Some of you may ask: what is the purpose for a competition of this type? Currently, there is a backlog of about 500 unreviewed Good article nominations, almost an all time high. It is our hope that we can decrease the backlog in a fun way, through friendly competition. Everyone is welcome to join; new and old editors! Sign-ups will be open until October 15, 2014 so sign-up now! If you have any questions, take a look at the FAQ page and/or contact one of the four judges. Cheers from NickGibson3900, Dom497, TheQ Editor and Figureskatingfan. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 19:04, 15 September 2014 (UTC) To receive future GA Cup newsletter, please add your name to our mailing list.

Flags in sports articles
So the RFC on the use of Flag icons in sports articles has been closed. I wonder how we now move on from this? Do we change the wording of MOS:SPORTFLAGS to reflect the new consensus or do we formulate a new RFC explicitly stating the change that we want to be made? Tvx1 (talk) 20:59, 17 November 2014 (UTC)
