The Woodlands Resort

[edit]

You started an article The Woodlands Resort. The entire contents of the article was the following sentence: "The Woodlands Resort is a resort in The Woodlands, Texas. You need to provide a lot more information than that. There are, I don't know, thousands or millions of hotels in the world. There shouldn't be articles on each of these hotels. There are articles on only a small few that are significant to the world. You never answered the question "Why is this hotel notable?" Did a famous first happen here? Is it the largest ...? You also need to provide evidence of its notability from multiple reliable sources if you want it remain for any period of time. Here's an example of the absolute minimum that you should have (minus the pictures) before posting: Blue Harbor Resort (an older version before expansion). I notice that The Woodlands, Texas article notes the resort is a 4 star hotel. You need to note that fact in the article with a citation to prove it. Royalbroil 16:33, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You are permitted to recreate the article. The best way to do that is to create a User subpage. You can find out the directions at Wikipedia:SUBPAGE#How_to_create_user_subpages (the third main section). Then you have all the time that you need to create something that will stay. You can copy it to the regular article (called article space or main space) when you are done. That way no one will waste their or your time on deleting your draft article. Citations and reliable sources are critical to every new article, so be careful. You can leave me a message when you're done (if you want) and I'll give you my opinion if it's notable enough. I tend to be more inclusionist than an average admin - I want keep things rather than delete them. Royalbroil 02:36, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I reviewed the article. It's far better than the article that I speedy deleted. I did find several problems. I read it and removed some content that failed WP:PEACOCK and other information that was non-encyclopedic/promotional sounding. You cannot upload images that you copy from websites without their explicit permission, so I removed it. The article is fair quality. It is weak in content that asserts that it is notable. How is this resort more important than the many thousands of resorts in the United States? You don't provide many reliable sources, which is critical. Print sources such as newspaper and magazine reviews/articles are greatly needed to make it much stronger. It's quite marginal at this point. You could copy it to The Woodlands Resort, but I wouldn't be surprised if it got nominated for deletion. You need to add categories. I'm not endorsing or opposing creation. You (or even an admin like me for that matter) stating that we have permission to use an image is not acceptable. Wikipedia needs to receive permission directly from an email address from the website. See WP:OTRS for an explanation about how to do this (the page at Meta). I see an assertion of notability as she was a cheerleader for a major U.S. football team. It is backed up with multiple reliable sources. If you want for it to be deleted, you need to propose it at WP:AFD. I would fight in favor of keeping it. Royalbroil 03:48, 15 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
