Edits to UEFA Cup 2008-09 scores
[edit]It's a bit of a warzone out there :P The big competitions - especially the European ones - always attract a lot of attention from casual editors as well as having the obvious regular members who are watching the page. When lots of scores start coming through, mayhem ensues. I don't mean to dissuade you from editing - quite the opposite - but to warn you that on match days, organisation of edits are very hard to organise, and largely doomed to failure if only due to the unregistered editors and casual bystanders who will wander in and make their edits regardless of what everyone else is doing. If you feel like you are being shut out from the large number of edit conflicts, don't - everyone else is feeling it too. In truth, updating scores before the matches are finished is looked down upon by many Wikipedians anyway. If you really want a specific role in editing, then I'd recommend you try doing something like keeping vigilant for false edits which are occasionally added, or on the slightly harder jobs, such as adding teams in their correct place in the next round section (ranked by UEFA Coefficient) after they have qualified. Otherwise, getting involved in marking up UEFA Cup scores is always a chaotic procedure, so just don't be disheartened and keep editing. Keep up the good work :) Falastur2 Talk 19:02, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
- No problem. Personally, what I find amazing is that, with so many millions of people watching these games, and so many people using Wikipedia and the internet, that we get as few people editing those articles at once as we do. And it's good that you've got used to the format. You'll find that the better you know how to use the templates that form our tables, the more of a specialist you become, and thus the more likely you are to be able to make useful edits without other people getting in the way. That, or you can use your skills to correct the mistakes other people make - and they are myriad. It's the ability to do that kind of thing which makes me feel useful as an editor, aside from the few articles I've created myself in recent months...I'm sure in a matter of weeks you'll know your way around these Wiki pages like the back of your hand :) Good luck and happy editing. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
