dunno how to use this right, sorry if this is wrong . re: your comments to me - the links added are serious and useful links, and are relevant to the specifgic articles - as it's a site I contribute to a lot, I have a detailed knowledge of it, and thus know the links that I can add to pages on here, which are often useful (for example, full texts by political theorists, on the entry for that theorist etc.). Didn't realise this broke any policy?

[edit]

Hey, I speedied that puppy for you. You had spelled the the afd page title wrong on WP:AFD, so I decided to look and that thing doesn't belong on AfD. Karmafist 00:46, 16 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I see you speedied that one. In the future, you might want to check the page history before you do that -- it's a completely valid disambiguation page, it's just that it got trashed by the dork who took it over. I reverted it to its last good edit. No big deal; any admin about to delete it would've checked the history and spotted that, but just something to bear in mind in the future. =) -- Captain Disdain 03:21, 16 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I have seen your comment about Angel Carter and i think you misunderstood me. I was pointing out how she has an article that basically say she is only related to famous persons. Does that deserve an article>

Angel Carter has almost no info on the web. Famous for what exactly? Cherryrain

I agree with your conclusion that this article along with House Of Maqbool and Tahir Sohail are all interlinked. I had seen them all, but was not sure how to get them dealt with en masse. By itself, House of Maqbool might be notable, as it appears to be a prominent family. (I did some web searching.) However, the set seems to be self promoting. Will you work to get them all deleted? Just to double-check with you, it is just:

Terristrial redirect

[edit]

The Terristrial article is already a redirect, or was ... but my point is, do we redirect for every misspelling??? What is the Wikipedia policy on that? The page should simply be eliminated, I feel, rather than supporting unnecessary misspells. CobaltBlueTony 17:52, 10 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Crystalcherry has been recreated, I believe it lacks notability as per the previous AfD. I got involved in this when User:Cherryrain went "Opps", twice on Avril Lavigne and then requested my assistance after I reverted. I suspect this user has been biten/slighted by the AfD, and is not acting entirely in good faith. Cherryrain mentioned User:Drini's agreement for a rewrite; I'm not optimistic that will be sufficient to satisfy all users involved in this issue. Eurofighter

[edit]

Since you're being so accomodating I guarantee not to remove it if you choose to put it back and please do if you feel strongly about it. My thoughts on the issue: I have rewritten the intro to give prominence to Eurofighter GmbH, i.e 1st sentence. Also Eurofighter Jagdflugzeug GmbH isn't the only associated company, there is also Eurofighter International (the sales organisation).

However if you think it would help readers like you suggest please feel free, edit wars aren't really my style either! Regards Mark83 13:56, 26 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

WP:Bootcamp

[edit]

Hello Bjk! Yes, we could use more of that excellent newbie-helping in Bootcamp. Right now we have a very quiet IRC channel which we sometimes turn into a training area for focused sessions. Tractor and I have been on holiday of late... but we could use more active office hours there, and perhaps topical bootcamp sessions with brief announcements in #wikipedia. Eventually, there might even be bootcamp subpages with refined information about the topics everyone needs to know. +sj + 09:04, 6 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi! Could you please have a look at Talk:Peter Christian Asbjørnsen? Since Peter Christen Asbjørnsen was the gentleman's name, not Peter Christian Asbjørnsen, the article should be moved. Hi BJ,

Work was not blocked for his last edit. I have been unhappy, to put it mildly, at his antics for a while. Many users were on the brink of imposing a block over his behaviour, but even by his standards the attack quoted on WP:AN was astonishing. If he had made it in one-third of the countries on the planet he would face criminal prosecution under incitment to hatred legislation. I reviewed his edits and they involved

  • endless offensive abuse of other users
  • POV doctoring of articles, and abuse of users who complained
  • demands that users seek his permission to edit "his" articles
  • rascist attacks
  • unilaterally moving articles to factually wrong titles to push his POV
  • creating phoney redirects (for example, all in caps) that link to nothing
  • posting potential defamation about public figures, and going ballastic and abusing users who remove it
  • throwing article names into chaos by moving pages to locations so that he could place a full stop at the end of the article name.

He has been asked by users repeatedly to stop the abuse, stop the moving, stop the POVing, and actually the WP MoS and NCs. His response has been more abuse. He had even had temporary blocks imposed only to return and be worse. Having seen the full scale of his behaviour and his complete refusal despite appeals to change it, and in view of the fact that many people have been banned permanently for far less committed far less often, I had no choice but to take the ultimate sanction and ban him. I only regret I had not done so earlier. Had I done so, vaiour users might have avoided the litany of rascist and homophobic attacks he rained down on them. Slander

[edit]

While I appreciate your efforts towards fairness, what you left there was slander. Glock does not sell guns to terrorists. In fact, if anything, Glocks are known as POLICE PISTOLS as a majority of US police departments issue them. It's not editing or censorship, it's good policing to remove crap like that. It's still there, in the history, if you feel like directing people there.--Asams10 16:26, 25 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's not an unverified allegation, it's outright slander. There's a dividing line between an assertion such as, "Dogs prefer Purina" and a supportable statement such as, "Dogs preferred Purina to Iams in taste tests." Neither offers proof, but one is supportable. To say that a certain gun has become known as a terrorist gun is unsupportable. To say something like, "Media has increasingly referred to the Ruger P85 as a 'terrorist weapon,'" Would be a supportable statement if one can find a pattern of useage. The fact is, I follow firearms in the media and I've NEVER heard the gun in question referred to as a terrorist weapon. Before editing, I checked the poster's background and he posts mostly on computer gaming entries. Sounds simple to me. I didn't want to remove your statements because they were part of a healthy discussion. Thanks.--Asams10 18:22, 25 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

On the help project talk page, you posted:

Hi everyone. I would just like to let you know that many of the Boot Camp regulars would like to help with the new system/structure, as the current is chaotic to say the least! We've discussed several suggestions, and personally I'd like to know what you think about a helpsystem in two parts; one aimed at the general users, and one aimed at the newbies? The part aimed at the newbies would contain much of the same as the general help, but with more focus on typical newbie issues, and without cluttering the page(s) with too much information. I believe that you may want to re-examine your AFD nomination for this article. According to the ABC page for the show in question (linked at the AFD), she's played that role for five years, not just one episode. The IMDB page was probably wrong/incomplete. -Colin Kimbrell 15:06, 24 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Based on the edit histories of the article creators, there must be dozens of them out there. May be worth trying a bunch of prods.
