Louisiana Missionary Baptist Institute and Seminary is up for deletion

This may help: Findsources3:

Find sources for Louisiana Missionary Baptist Institute and Seminary: google news recent, google news old, google books, google scholar, NYT recent, NYT old, a9, msbooks, msacademic ...You can then cite these results in the Article for deletion discussion.

Also, you may not be aware of all of this resources:

 1. List the page up for deletion on Article Rescue Squadron. You can get help listing your page on the Article Rescue Squadron talk page.
 2. You can request a mentor to help explain to you all of the complex rules that editors use to get a page deleted: Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User.
 3. Here is a list of acronyms you can use yourself: WP:Deletion debate acronyms which may support the page you created being kept.
 4. You can vote to merge the article into a larger or better established article on the same topic.

If your page is deleted, you still have many options available. Good luck! travb (talk) 12:52, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

DYK nomination of Breaking Point (TV series)

Hello! Your submission of Breaking Point (TV series) at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and there still are some issues that may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! Dravecky (talk) 06:30, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

DYK template

Please remember to use to nominate articles at DYK, rather than DYKsuggestion. For your most recent nomination, it seems as if you copied and pasted the following text:

Brave Eagle
at 09:19, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
:*
<!--Please do not write below this line or remove this line.-->

What would work better, though, and would make things easier for reviewers, would be the following:

Doing it that way does all the formatting and credits automatically. Politizer talk/contribs 15:49, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

Any time you need to nominate an article, you can just paste in the following code and fill in whatever blanks you want (the first two you have to fill in; the others are optional, although at least one creator or expander needs to be credited...if you are the creator or the expander, then you don't need to list yourself as the nominator. images and comments are not required):

Image permission problem with Image:McCrery 07-04-2008 04;16;37PM.JPG

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:McCrery 07-04-2008 04;16;37PM.JPG. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the image (or other media file) agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

 • make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
 • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the image to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the image has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the image's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Images lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Petramis (talk) 00:52, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

Dravecky (talk) 20:32, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

I don't understand why you are adding wikilnks for Dean Miller (broadcaster) to film and TV articles, when it appears unlikely that this person is notable enough to have an article written about him. There's no particular reason to have a redlink that's never going to be blue, unless you plan on writing the article yourself.

Also, looking at your edits, I see that you have a tendency to add a lot of very minute detail about specific episodes of TV programs to articles about the actors who appeared in them, despite the fact that the programs aren't particularly notable and don't play a key part in the actors career. It would be best if you took more care to insure that the information you're adding is pertinent to the article in question, and not simply factually true. Actor articles aren't simply agglomerations of miscellaneous facts, they're supposed to tell the story of the actor's life and career. Ed Fitzgerald t / c 04:22, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

I see you've written the article -- great! In the future, it might be best to write the article first and then change the links. Ed Fitzgerald t / c 04:48, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Bill G. Chapman

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Bill G. Chapman, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

WP:BIO, WP:NOT#MEMORIAL. His book isn't widely cited in Google books. Only reference is Lubbock obituary. Tagged since 9/2007 without improvement.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the dated prod notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Roger Mobley and edit summaries

Hello, fellow editor. Thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia. However, I noticed you added some edits such as this one and this one concerning Roger Mobley that have questionable value. Adding paragraphs (sometimes in the lead) for one-time residences of everybody in the Wikipedia is obviously not a practice that should be encouraged. There were a handful of other edits about Roger Mobley of a similar nature. Sometimes it is proper to add residents to a place article and indeed many article have "Notable resident" sections to do this. The section generally should not be used for transient residents. Even when adding a person to the notables section, it is not helpful to qualify the addition with more than just a brief phrase. So having full sentences mentioning Mobley's Cowboy Church, his wife, and so on, is disproportionate.

You also use very few edit summaries which makes it difficult for other editors to follow your contributions. Please consider using them in the future. Jason Quinn (talk) 19:17, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

Thanks For The Work!

Hello BH - I noted your name earlier for the work you've done on the TV series Northwest Passage, and I see now that you have created an article on its star Keith Larsen. At long last! I'd been searching for years (and wondering) whatever became of him and what else he'd done beyond the TV and movies that I remember. I couldn't find anything and am glad that you did - more stuff is popping up here on Wiki about other 50s actors like Ron Ely and Jerome Courtland.

BTW - Larsen played a villainous Indian in a theatrical film of Hiawatha that starred Ben Casey's Vince Edwards in the title role.

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Haynes 11-06 20fred.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

I am sorry, but I don't know how to do this.Billy Hathorn (talk) 15:50, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

The easiest way is to download the image to your computer and re-upload it to the commons under the same file name. Copy the description from the Wikipedia copy to the Commons copy. Then request speedy-delete of the picture with the reason that an identical copy is on the commons. Since it's your photo and you uploaded the copy to Wikipedia, it's only fair that your account shows up in the common's upload logs. If you need further help, say so. By the way, if you don't have a "unified login" then you need to either change your preferences or create a Commons account with the same username and password. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 17:49, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

Nominations at DYK

Hi Billy,

Please notice that the nominations system at DYK has changed; you are now supposed to use rather than the template you have been using in the past. There are extensive instructions in the notice above the edit window when you go to edit T:TDYK. For an example, here is how your most recent nom would be done using it:

Notice that the article title is not wikilinked or piped in the |article= part, you just write it as is. If it helps, for your future nominations you can just copy the above code and change the article title and hook whenever you need to make a different nom. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 04:58, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

This didn't work because you left off the closing }} brackets at the end of the template. I have re-nominated it for you. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 02:29, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

Nominations for DYK

Hi Billy! Thanks for your contributions to DYK. I just wanted to point out that generally, new hooks are added to the top of the list for the day, and marked with the time you nominated, not created it. this edit was misplaced. I was just letting you know, before someone else pulls you up on it. Thanks again for your contributions. ∗ \ / () 22:09, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

Thank You!

BH-I added Peggy Rea to Doris Singleton's page as one of the 3 surviving cast members, from I Love Lucy. Previously, the public, and media tended to credit only 2 surviving cast members, while overlooking Peggy; she's still alive. Thank you for your information and edits on Doris; I know very little about her-other than she was a fabulous actress. Cheers!--Irshgrl500 (talk) 03:43, 12 March 2009 (UTC)Irshgrl500

I have repeatedly explained that this is a yearbook photo taken before the cutoff year of 1977.Billy Hathorn (talk) 11:25, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

 • Explaining to a bot isn't going to do you any good. You apparently need to explain it to User:Petramis who can't seem to wrap his/her head around the idea that copyright wasn't automatic in 1969 like it is today. It might help to change the description from saying "I own photo" -- which seems to confuse him/her -- to "I own the physical yearbook from which this photo was scanned." *Maybe* that will help. I also suggest that you go to his/her user talk page and explain this. Crypticfirefly (talk) 03:06, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

Categories

Please don't add Category:Louisiana politicians to people who are already in a subcategory such as Category:Members of the Louisiana House of Representatives or Category:New Orleans Councilmembers. Wikipedia has rules around duplicate categorization; we don't want the general category to be populated with people who are already in subcategories. Thanks. For every category you create, you should specify parent categories to which it belongs. You can do this by listing the parents near the bottom of the page, each enclosed in double brackets like so:

I've added at least one parent to the category. I invite you to check my work for accuracy and completeness.

I am a human being, not a bot, so you can contact me if you have questions about this. Best regards, --Stepheng3 (talk) 16:55, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Downtown Lewisville, AR IMG 1463.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Radiant chains (talk) 06:33, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

Texas Tech Images

Hi Billy. I noticed you've added some photos to the TTU article. Over the last couple years several of us (primarily Wordbuilder, AlmostHonest, and I) have built this article up in such as way that it conforms precisely to Wikipedia's manual of style. We've had professional quality photos taken and matched them up with the appropriate parts of the article, and in doing so have pushed the article to Featured Article status (considered one of the finest articles on Wikipedia). In order to attain (and keep) this status the article must strictly conform to the very high standards it requires. I'm glad to have you aboard helping us and you've got some good shots, but I think the ones we have up there currently fit the article most precisely and are positioned properly to maintain the right/left alternating image rule. I recommend that you upload your photos to Wikipedia Commons under the Texas Tech University label and then they will be available for use in other articles inside Project Texas Tech. This is where all of our photos are stored http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Texas_Tech_University as you can see we aren't currently using all of them for the page (even though some of them are beautiful photos). Thanks for your help and let me know if you have any questions or suggestions.--Elred (talk) 18:41, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
