This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest was declined. See explanation below. Wikipedia is independent of article-subjects, much like any news publication. Articles are not owned by the article-subject |
change photo on profile page. did not authorize that person to change it.

- Hello Billkurtis. Please see Wikipedia:Ownership of articles. No one owns any content on Wikipedia, not even the subject of an article, and no authorization for changes or additions are needed, provided contributions are in line with Core Content Policies, Copyrights, and Image use policies. The media uploaded, File:Bill Kurtis 2014.jpg, was published with a free-use license (CC-BY-2.0), as most media on Wikipedia must be public domain or similarly free to use. You are welcome to contribute additional images to Wikipedia and/or Wikimedia Commons, provided the images are demonstrably available under acceptable free licenses. Commons has strict free-use requirements (see Commons:Licensing), while Wikipedia allows for the limited use of Non-free content. The copyright of File:Bill Kurtis photo by Andrew Eccles.jpg is presumably owned by Andrew Eccles, and may not be acceptable on Wikipedia's No free equivalent criteria, since free equivalent exists on Commons. Similarly, the Eccles photo may not be acceptable on Commons unless the actual copyright holder verifies permission via Commons:OTRS. Cheers, and thanks for all you do. --Animalparty-- (talk) 23:18, 14 January 2015 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of File:Bill Kurtis photo by Andrew Eccles.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Bill Kurtis photo by Andrew Eccles.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
