Hi. Why did you edit Joust (video game) like you did? What exactly is the conflict of interest, and how did you know that? Furthermore, since the source was relevant and informative, and you didn't replace it with another one (in fact you broke the content in the process), why did you do it? The info had been added by just some residential user with a history of categorically relevant edits. I'm just curious, so what's up? Thanks!  :) — Smuckola (Email) (Talk) 16:18, 4 August 2013 (UTC)
The source is non-authoritative as per Wikipedia:Citing sources, and shouldn't be used on the encyclopaedia. If the information is not citable by a reputable source, then we probably rely on such information. I didn't say that it was CoI, though as this is the only person who uses the site as a reference, it is presumably an indicator of it.

We are building an encyclopaedia, and lifting the standard is our purpose, not relying on hearsay, or what someone said or claims on a site somewhere, especially where it is lacking the evidence-base to support the claim. — billinghurst sDrewth 06:10, 5 August 2013 (UTC)

{{cite DNB}} + {{cite ODNB}} = ?

I was wondering today if it might be time to rationalise the DNB citation templates down to one. It is an old issue how best to refer to the modern ODNB and first edition DNB in one breath. Also the {{cite DNBSupp}} and {{cite DNB12}} are just ad hoc, needing a "year=" field to fold them into the whole thing.

I would favour starting with {{cite DNB}} as is, adding an "ODNB=" field to hold the database code (the ODNB article URLs look like http://www.oxforddnb.com/view/article/20208), and working out the consequences. Could be a fair bit to do, to incorporate all existing features. Charles Matthews (talk) 10:29, 22 August 2013 (UTC)

Do you want them all merged and massaged into the one single template with multiple configurations to get right, or were you comfortable with some nesting where the ODNB template just applied some base components of a higher level template?
