Another editor flagged Coye, Lee Brown for possible copyright violations. I cannot remove the tag now that it's in place, but if you follow the links on the warning message, you can get to a page where you can explain what you did and either how it is not a (c) violation or how you plan to rewrite it so as to avoid a (c) violation. Wiki's (c) policy is mostly based on US law, so it shouldn't be too tough for you to follow. --Mareino 20:43, 19 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Quick comment; in the current text there are definitely sections which are directly cut and paste from the original. If you plan to re-write, do it at the new page location now linked from the page. It's better not to leave any copyright violations, even in the page history. Mozzerati 20:49, 19 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I had permission from the original author to put it up any where I felt appropriate. I have edited it and added material to it. --Bill Drew 20:54, 19 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I have reverted out my copyright notice, so please go on with editing and accept my apologies. Please could you add a clear statement about the source to the bottom of the article ("based on an the article XXX by XXX published in XXX). Please also confirm that the person granting the permission has it for sure. Remember, that authors sometimes lose their rights for distribution due to their publishing agreement. I've been checking further on the copyright issue; In case of permission grants, the result should be sent to permissions at wikimedia dot org. It would be really appreciated if you could do that in your case. I made some minor alterations to the article also; hope you like them. Mozzerati 17:31, 22 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Following up on this, has the confirmation email been sent to the permissions@... email address? Thanks. howcheng {chat} 23:46, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

File:COYE1.GIF needs authorship information

[edit]
Dear uploader:

The media file you uploaded as File:COYE1.GIF appears to be missing information as to its authorship (and or source), or if you did provide such information, it is confusing for others trying to make use of the image.

It would be appreciated if you would consider updating the file description page, to make the authorship of the media clearer.

Although some images may not need author information in obvious cases, (such where an applicable source is provided), authorship information aids users of the image, and helps ensure that appropriate credit is given (a requirement of some licenses).

  • If you created this media yourself, please consider explicitly including your user name, for which: {{subst:usernameexpand|BillDrew}} will produce an appropriate expansion,
    or use the {{own}} template.
  • If this is an old image, for which the authorship is unknown or impossible to determine, please indicate this on the file description page.
If you have any questions please see Help:File page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 15:11, 29 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Lee Brown Coye.gif

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Lee Brown Coye.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
