Some comments about the mangalsutra article[edit]

Thankyou for this article. Here are a few points that could be considered, to improve it.

"The significance of the mangala sutra was first given by Adi Shankara in his famous book Soundarya Lahari."

Is this an established fact? What did Adi Shankara state in this regard? Are there no previous references in Puranas etc.?

FOLLOWING STATEMENTS ARE CONFUSING If "the practice of wearing a mangala sutra is mainly followed in western Indian and south Indian states," then why do "the Kashmiri Pandits have the distinction of being one of the few Hindu communities that does not have the Tali as part of its wedding ritual?" There are many more communities other than Kashmiri Pandits who do not mainly reside in western Indian and south Indian states. And why refer to it here as Tali and not mangala sutra?

"The Bengali, Oriya, and Assamese don't follow the custom of wearing mangalsutras." That is already implied by stating "the practice of wearing a mangala sutra is mainly followed in western Indian and south Indian states."

The following is irrelevant to the subject of the article: "Kashmiri Pandits have a characteristic ear ring which signifies marital status."

In Malayalam it is simply referred to as "Thaali" -- also in Tamil. NB spelling standardization needed, at presemt sometimes it is spelt Thaali, and sometimes Tali.

"It is a sacred necklace that the groom ties around the bride's neck on the day of a Hindu wedding" But as I learned from this article, Christians also wear it.
