Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.

Kentucky Route 248 and List of Kentucky supplemental roads and rural secondary highways (3500–6999)

@Bflockett: welcome to Wikipedia! Our articles are written by volunteers, just like you. Not everyone has the time, resources, or interest to devote time to writing and expanding articles. My area of expertise is Michigan's highways, so I'd be lost or just plain unable to do much work in expanding Kentucky's highway articles. I can copy edit and polish the work of others, so I try to help out where and when I can with other states. I just wouldn't be any good at adding histories to Kentucky route articles, and although I might be able to do a passable route description off maps, someone else local might be better.

Wikipedia:WikiProject U.S. Roads/New user orientation is a good introduction to editing road articles. One thing to remember is that all of our articles are considered works in progress, even the Featured Articles! So feel free to add what you can to articles as you can add it. One important thing is to provide citations to your source material. You don't have to worry about making perfectly polished footnotes, but there are templates to help with that. Just remember to use reliable sources. Your sources don't have to be online; print sources are perfectly acceptable. Providing citations allows other people to verify your work, so as long as your source is in a library someplace, that's a good start. In the roads realm, you don't want to use self-published sources like websites written by fellow roadgeeks and published online without editorial oversight. Other roadfans might hold those webmasters in high esteem, but their work isn't compatible with some of Wikipedia's policies. Imzadi 1979 → 00:28, 10 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I couldn’t log in for the longest time so I just saw the reply. I am having to use my phone until my computer gets fixed. My computer has most of my sources (mostly old maps and highway plans), so I can’t really edit what I want to. Bflockett (talk) 16:29, 29 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
