Control copyright icon Hello Bete-Amhara, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your addition to Tedros Adhanom has had to be removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and a cited source. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:17, 2 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

In cleaning up some of the copyright problems you created prior to notice of our policies, I've noticed several issues related to policies you should be aware of.
Wikipedia has a strong commitment to presenting material neutrally, with proper balance of positive and negative to reflect reliable sources. None of us is permitted to enter our own opinion. When adding negative content about living people, it is especially important to be sure to remain balanced, but this is important in all articles.
Additionally, we do not usurp articles to add information about unrelated entities. The existing article on Bete Amhara cannot be overwritten to describe something else by the same name. Instead, if that something else is notable, it should have a separate article.
However, that separate article should be created by somebody who is not connected to the organization. See conflict of interest guideline. To make sure that content remains neutral and meets our commitment, we strongly discourage people from editing content which directly relates to them. Such content may be deleted. Wikipedia is not an advocacy movement, although we may report on advocacy movements in accordance with the approach described above.
If you have questions about how to work within Wikipedia's processes and policies, please visit the Wikipedia:Teahouse. This is designed to be a friendly environment for newcomers learning their way around. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:26, 2 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Independent Republic of Bete Amhara requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. | Nayptatalk opened his mouth at 16:28, 2 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

In addition to the lack of demonstrated notability, the article was clearly non-neutral and has been deleted accordingly. Content like " Every sons and daughters of Bete Amhara should contribute their ultimate capabilities to rescue our people; everyone should struggle in whatsoever way he or she can and believes helpful. We are in a turning point of whether rescue our people or let them vanish from the face of the earth. And Bete Amhara members should not allow that to happen! We shall prevail again!" will never be appropriate on Wikipedia. Please leave the note I left you above and be sure to carefully read WP:COI. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 16:31, 2 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add commentary or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles, as you did to Amhara National Democratic Movement. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. Thank you. Gyrofrog (talk) 16:58, 2 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding unsourced content, as you did to Bete Amhara. This contravenes Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Please also have a look at WP:SOAPBOX. Gyrofrog (talk) 17:05, 2 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you violate Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy by inserting commentary or your personal analysis into an article, as you did at Bete Amhara. Gyrofrog (talk) 17:06, 2 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Bete Amhara. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Gyrofrog (talk) 17:07, 2 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
