Conflict of Interest

We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). - when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);

- exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

- You are clearly creating a biography for someone you know well and are probably closely related to. This often leads to writing that does not reflect the neutral point of view that Wikipedia requires. You wish to show the importance of the person, but you cannot do that -- only the third-party sources about the person can do that. In any case, it is essential that you formally declare your conflict of interest. Also note that once the article goes into the main Wikipedia space, those with a conflict of interest should not make any further edits. COI editing is allowed on drafts because drafts are reviewed, but there is no reviewing of changes to regular articles. For that reason, persons with conflicts of interest are asked not to make edits in "main space." Those who do can have their accounts blocked. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
