Hello (Tentative World Heritage Sites)

[edit]

Bergmanesque: Hi. I have to say I was a bit surprised when I saw all the edits made to those articles but I appreciate the fact that you took the time to write me a note and let me know why you made those changes. Thanks.

If you don't mind, I do want to add back the UNESCO links that you had deleted in the external link section. I'm not sure why you deleted it and am confused because some articles have the link still and others don't. If it is because you felt as though the link was conveying some kind of "official" status to the site than I can describe the link in a better way. But, the external link provides an excellent resource so I don't think its bad to include. Please let me know what you think.

As for the template deletion, for right now, I am going to revert the change if you don't mind. Mainly, becase the template itself isn't innacurate once you had deleted the category in the actual template. It does note the sites are tentative as does the main body of the article and its a convenient way to organize the sites in easy to see area. If there is a rule against using a template, please let me now. To be honest, this template was only a temporary thing. I wasn't sure how to organize everything yet, which is also why the template had an inaccurate category. But for now, if you don't mind, I would like to reinstate the template and perhaps you could give me some ideas as how to make these articles more accessible to readers at Wikipedia.

I agree that it was my mistake to put the tentative sites in the same category as the officially designated sites. Thanks for correcting the tentative site template. But, I guess its a personal judgment call as to whether or not an article is needed and what ways are best to publicize their creation. (Let me know what you think). The fact is that I have put a lot of time into the articles and I'm not going to delete them so I guess we have to come to some kind of consensus on what to do with them, perhaps creating a subsection or a new page entitled Tentative World Heritage Sites based on the World Heritage Sites page. If you think my work was "excessive", all I can think to say is sorry. I thought they would be interesting reads and to be honest, I thought it would be ineteresting to read about all the other tentative sites as well, even if any US-interested or Italy-interested editor was too lazy to deign to write an article about them ;) I mean, even UNESCO does put up a list of tentative sites [1] and the official World Heritage Site website also puts up the tentative sites simultaneously with the regular World Heritage Sites. [2].

Hopefully, we can work out a solution. Thanks again. Tortfeasor 17:42, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

(Oops I saw that you had edited the pages again after I had gone to sleep last night so disregard anything that I wrote which would make more sense if I had only seen the first run of edits, sorry.)
