Flaming

So need a flaming article - OMG, it could rival fart lighting. -- Banjeboi

Yeah, so I can have a better wikilink instead of Camp (style) for the word "flame" in this userbox I created..
This user's flame burns phenomenally bright, as this user is an avowed homosexual.
So whatcha waiting for? -ALLST☆R echo 02:38, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
More time in a bottle and for recent dramas on Barney Frank and Julie Bindel to melt away; I also need to overhaul Adam Lambert within a week or so. -- Banjeboi 02:44, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
I'd like to overhaul Adam Lambert myself. And did you see this? Now there's a 3-some I'd buy tickets to particpate in. -ALLST☆R echo 02:51, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
You so nasty! -- Banjeboi 02:55, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Talkpage Cleanup

That would be greatly appreciated. My page is a mess and I am still learning how to format on Wikipedia.--Cartman005 (talk) 03:37, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Done, but checkback to see if any issues and finding everything Ok, etc. -- Banjeboi 10:07, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanks a lot.--Cartman005 (talk) 20:09, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Rescue tag use

What happened with the rescue tag debate. We have two more templates up at Wikipedia:Templates_for_deletion/Log/2009_April_24#Two_US_representatives_templates over the same issues as before.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 05:13, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

I thought we had consensus to approve usage but I've asked for outside editors' take on it to see. I deeply apologize as I know you do a lot of good work. -- Banjeboi 13:30, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
Go for it! We now have consensus! -- Banjeboi 04:17, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

Done. We'll see what sticks. -- Banjeboi 15:23, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

Hi Benjiboi

Hey Benjiboi, how are you doing this fine evening? I noticed that you found the RIP proposal, and I was so relieved to see that. I remembered your name from when you welcomed me to the article rescue folks. Thinking back, I'm not sure I ever replied with a thank you on that one, if I didn't I hope you'll accept my apology. I had gotten some info and stuff from Ikip, and I'd say there's a good chance that I failed to come thank you personally. Belated - but thank you! I noticed while I was researching and trying to push some sort of "what to do" thing forward, that you were familiar with Jeff, and I just wasn't sure what was proper in regards to asking for input. I had decided this afternoon, that if I didn't see any indication that you were aware of the proposal, that I would simply risk the accusation of canvassing, and come mention it to you. I hadn't seen Moni3 reply, but I thought it might be important to you to provide some input, and got the impression that you were very helpful when decisions had to be made in regards to Jeff. I truly wish I would have had the chance to know him and work with him, I get the impression that he was a wonderful person, and a great wikipedian.

The other item I wanted to mention was the MSM article, .. I looked through that, and I thought that little orange box about safe sex was absolutely brilliant! I don't know if it was your idea or not, but I definitely think it's a good way to inform people without breaching the "nothowto" thing. Something I'll definitely keep in mind if and when I get back to some of the computer related stuff. Well, that's about all I have for now, I hope life is treating you well, and I look forward to seeing you around the wiki ;) Cheers — Ched :  ?  04:49, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

I'm not sure I would have stuck around if it weren't for him. I'm happy to help if you want on the project. And thanks for the MSM, it was actually Moni3's idea for another article but I adapted a male version. I steal a lot of Moni3's great ideas - it's much easier! -- Banjeboi 15:26, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:A_push_and_a_Shove.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:A_push_and_a_Shove.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 15:22, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

No prob, we'll launch the article within a few days. -- Banjeboi 15:27, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

You're very welcome. I confess to having no clue what Ethanol induced non-lamellar phases in phospholipids is about but it looks tremendous - whatever it is. If I may suggest, I think it would greatly help to find ways to integrate this a bit within the framework of articles we already have. Like in the first sentences. This impacts how geneticists are able to study ___ at a microscopic level or something so your non-tech heads at least have a clue what this is all about. If you want I'll try. -- Banjeboi 00:09, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

draft page

How do I create a draft page? Like this [1]? Or will this get deleted?Zigzig20s (talk) 16:48, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

If I click on 'create this page,' it tells me, 'User account "Zigzig20s A Push and a Shove" is not registered. If you wish to use "Zigzig20s A Push and a Shove" as your username, please make a request at Wikipedia:Changing username.'.Zigzig20s (talk) 16:50, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
You were very close. Lol! I started a draft at User:Zigzig20s/A Push and a Shove: A Novel. -- Banjeboi 21:46, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanks. I've made it slightly terser, I need to rewrite the plot introduction, add a plot summary and a character list... It would be really good if you could find reviews from the gay press or any other reliable sources outside of the - apparently official - Myspace page. I'll get back to it tomorrow hopefully. Have you read this novel? I'm not sure the author needs his own page just yet. BTW, I am now reading Kevin Sessums's Mississippi Sissy, which should probably have its own page too, but all in due time.Zigzig20s (talk) 00:58, 23 April 2009 (UTC)
Happy to help, brain not always work good so feel free to poke with stick. -- Banjeboi 02:47, 23 April 2009 (UTC)
I'll get back to it later, busier than I expected these days.Zigzig20s (talk) 11:11, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
No rush, no worries. -- Banjeboi 13:39, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
Right, let me know what you think of the new version. I've added a detailed plot summary, character list and allusions to other works section. I follow the guidelines of the WP Novels. They don't include info on the author on their pages. It could be possible to create a page on Christopher Kelly himself, if we decide he is notable enough as a journalist.Zigzig20s (talk) 18:23, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
Wonderful. Instead of a whole section we could include relevant bits in the lede, his work as a film critic, openly gay, etc. -- Banjeboi 18:28, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
Well, I suspect the WP Novels will hate that because of The Death of the Author. Unless we say, 'a novel by Christopher Kelly, an openly gay journalist for The Chicago Tribune, Film Comment and Premiere '. And then we'd have to de-wikify his name. What do you think?Zigzig20s (talk) 18:35, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
They can be upset for the moment as his background is relative to the book to a degree so I'd include it. The redlink is fine for now, he'll likely have an article in the near future, especially if he does another book. -- Banjeboi 19:06, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
Changed it for two publications he writes for regularly. Have you read the summary, should I paste it and create the page?Zigzig20s (talk) 19:24, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
Some of what you've added should go into a 'Literary significance and criticism' section, after the allusions, before the links.Zigzig20s (talk) 20:18, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
I'd say do what you feel is best, I have no strong opinions as long as the relevant content is there. To launch it ... do not cut and paste but move the article which will clear it, the history and the talkpage from your userspace all at the same time. Whereas cut and paste leaves residual blah-di-blah. If you haven't done it before, there is a "Move" link in the upper left-hand - under reason put "moving into article mainspace". -- Banjeboi 20:27, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
Done (I think?). Thanks for the help. If you feel like helping me work on Suspension: A Novel by Robert Westfield, another Lambda Award winner, that could be fun. And on Kevin Sessums's book when I'm done with it. I have a lot of projects at present, but it's always good to get things done.Zigzig20s (talk) 20:53, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
Sure, as long as they're cute little stubbs, let me know. -- Banjeboi 14:20, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

regarding advice

I have begun to act on your advice and am now working through a (hopefully) less controversial page. I have learned a lot from watching you and others try to apply editorial policies. I am going through a page on a completely different area (the biography of a 13th century theologian) and working through the text picking up wording and citations, putting citations in Wiki format, etc. Mundane stuff, but the guy is somebody I've had an interest in for years. I have made a few other minor edits on a couple of sensitive pages which had things that really jumped out at me. The more I learn the more fascinating Wikipedia is becoming for me, I quite like the ethos. If there is a page you want to point me to at any time, do let me know - but one at a time, and nothing too pathological. I'll keep an eye on the pages I've got trangled up in so far, but I'm quite keen to avoid the squabbles as I find it upsets me deep down - although the IS page is very important to me. I have removed my user page, because what I had seen as declaring an interest was seen by somebody as my asserting 'superiority' (I only did what it said in the guidance- won't be declaring an interest again too quickly, unless specifically asked). Take care Mish (talk) 18:05, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

P.S. responded. —Preceding unsigned comment added by MishMich (talkcontribs) 19:36, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

No worries! And most editing is much more mundane than this. I will work on a draftpage and basically agree with the assesments of those not previous involved with the exception of "the admin" who basically is echoing the concerns raised. My hunch is the trans bits will be incorporated into a section on either her writing or her columns at the Guardian. Either way it'll get done and it would have continued to be a mess had you not mentioned it. -- Banjeboi 21:51, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

PPS, replied again. Mish (talk) 19:30, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

Will look in a bit, having some technical issue but I envision starting a draft page and splicing in the constructive bits suggested in about five places - LOL! If they hate me now just wait til that article grows three or four fold! -- Banjeboi 02:19, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Benjiboi,

I don't even know where to start to express my appreciation towards you in regards to editing my article. I logged on today and saw that you were indeed inspired in helping me with my article! ;) I will be adding an image soon as part of my requirement for my course. The final submission is due by Monday at 12 noon. I will be referring to your instructions and other sources on how to do upload the image. I have to create the image from scratch. Well, if you get a chance please let me know what you think once I have uploaded the image. Once again, THANK YOU for all of your help!

Sincerely,

--Dream22 (talk) 00:01, 27 April 2009 (UTC)Dream22

No problem, feel free to ask for help. For the image you may want to copy how others are already posted as the instructions can be a bit bewildering. Remamber to include regular people words in the wp:Caption. -- Banjeboi 06:59, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

DYK and more

Thanks, that looks fine. I've just created Incidents, which I read tonight, if you're interested. I finished Kevin Sessums's memoir last night, but I'm not sure how to sum it up as it's non-fiction. I may try to do a page on Robert Westfield's novel by the end of this week. Keep me posted.Zigzig20s (talk) 23:40, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

If there is any way each of those essays should be expanded a bit. If we can double the content we can send this to DYK as well. -- Banjeboi 02:34, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Latest Archiving

Hey Benjiboi. I noticed that you archived a very large discussion on the ARS talk page. While I wasn't in the discussion, I'm not sure if archiving it 2 days after the last post is a good idea. I didn't revert it as I wanted to see what your thoughts were first. OlYellerTalktome 02:04, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

It seemed to be only causing problems and that straw poll seemed more pointy than NPOV. I added the centralized discussion template at the top as well which actually has a more neutral centralized discussion on it. That talkpage shouldn't be a battleground so I'm hoping to keep cleaning off items after a day or two. It all seems to distract from the work we do that we have only days to accomplish. -- Banjeboi 02:31, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
Sounds fair enough to me. Thanks for the clarification. OlYellerTalktome 03:08, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanks, that whole page has been such a stressor. -- Banjeboi 03:18, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
Ya, it's been testing my drive to work on Wikipedia. I've recently gone back to only working on articles instead of projects/policies to calm down a bit. OlYellerTalktome 03:19, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
