Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from Gorillaz. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Please do not add or change content without verifying it by citing reliable sources, as you did to Dennis Hopper. Before making any potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Yworo (talk) 14:47, 28 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your actions at The Fall (Gorillaz album) could result in a block to your account

[edit]

You are breaking numerous Wikipedia policies by persisting in re-editing a single data point despite edit summaries indicating you are in the wrong. Under this user name, you have edited this same data point at least six times in the span of about a week. This constitutes edit warring, ignoring discussions, and ignoring consensus developed at that talk page and at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Albums#The Fall (Gorillaz album) – what kind of animal is it?. When you have a perspective or other information that diverges from consensus, you are expected to explain your edit in an WP:Edit summary and, if your edit is reverted, WP:Discuss the point on the WP:Talk page.

To the specifics of your edits — which insist this album is instead an EP — the first sentence of Extended play is, "An EP (short for extended play) is a musical recording which contains more music than a single, but is too short to qualify as a full album or LP". Further, the Gorillaz are a UK band, and the same article notes in the intro paragraph, "In the United Kingdom, the Official Chart Company defines a boundary between EP and album classification at 25 minutes of length or four tracks". Clearly The Fall, a 15-track album that clocks in at 43:20, is not an EP. Consensus is that it is a studio album.

In explaining this to you, I am assuming good faith that you believe that you are correct, despite the various edit summaries and the extensive discussion on the article's talk page, but at this point, your edits constitute vandalism. Continuing this pattern will result in a WP:Block of your account. This will be your only warning on this article, and any further edit to that data point there will move directly to administrative action, but I hope and expect that after this message, you will understand the issue and Wiki policies better and it will not come to that. Best, Abrazame (talk) 04:42, 24 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I would think it obvious that the above applies to any other bastardization of the studio album concept, including your neologism "tour album", which is likely to confuse a reader into thinking you're referring to an album recorded at a stop on a live tour, which is of course a live album. I understand you're interested in the album and the band, and I don't want to use your disregard of my warning as an excuse to block you, but your many, many edits over many, many days, despite many, many reverts and admonitions, each one with you substituting something else for "studio album" would be grounds for administrative action against you. Please just drop this issue, unless you would like to use reliable sources to argue a case for some alternative that we would then have to get past WikiProject Albums or WP:MOS, because we have to develop consensus for establishing a template before we can change the parameter. I know it sounds like bullshit, but what do you call making stuff up? Seriously, not another edit to studio album there, not without a really convincing discussion. This is your second warning. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on The Mammoth Tusk requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a musical recording which does not indicate why its subject is important or significant, and where the artist's article has never existed, has been deleted or is eligible for deletion itself. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for music.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. —Ryūlóng (竜龙) 19:12, 29 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:The mammoth tusk promo packshot.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. —Ryūlóng (竜龙) 19:13, 29 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please familiarize yourself with our Manual of Style. In particular, our standard for article headings is that only the first word and proper nouns should be capitalized. The word "unreleased" is not a proper noun and should not be capitalized. Stop reverting me. Yworo (talk) 22:13, 29 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Also, the manual of style says that only the first occurrence in a section of a Wikilinkable term should be linked. We do not link every instance of a term. Yworo (talk) 22:15, 29 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Also, this is an encyclopedia, we do not use "&" instead of the word "and" and we also do not use other contractions. Yworo (talk) 22:19, 29 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article The Mammoth Tusk has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable album.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi, and thanks for your work on the English Wikipedia.

I noticed an article you worked on. Just a short note to point out that we don’t normally link:

  • dates
  • years
  • commonly known geographical terms (including well-known country-names), and
  • common terms you’d look up in a dictionary (unless significantly technical).

(This even applies for infoboxes.)

Thanks and my best wishes.

Everyday Robots

[edit]

Hello,
I really appreciate your extensive edits on Everyday Robots and devotion to Damon Albarn-related articles. However, don't you think that the Everyday Robots article is a bit too long? I think it'd have been better to summarize and paraphrase the content rather than adding paragraphs of quotes to the article. Also I believe that some information (such as the critical reception of the singles) could be moved to their respective articles. What do you think? POV

[edit]

Hi, wikipedia is a neutral encyclopedia. If a team wins with 5-0 we say something like "on X January Özil assisted to the first goal and scored the second in a 5-0 win" and stay neutral. We dont add opinions WP:POV (point of view) saying "fantastic goal", "crushing opponents" and so on, who says it was "fantastic" opinions change from person to person and should be left out if not sourced. Also not every detail is notable, we dont need to know exact minute and so on, people can read that in source. Please try and stay neutral. QED237 (talk) 12:18, 2 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Quotes

[edit]

Hi, I was just asking if you could ease up on the quotes. If a manager likes his players it is not very notable, all managers say that. An encyclopedia is for facts and not opinions and POV (as I said above). I really like your interest and willingness do add text to the articles, keep up the good work (just with fewer quotes in my opinion). QED237 (talk) 13:55, 5 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

To clarify, quotes sometimes is not bad, but you dont have to add them after every match, like at Alexis Sanchez there was 3 qoutes for 2 matches. QED237 (talk) 13:56, 5 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Jame Fauntleroy at the Grammy Awards.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Jame Fauntleroy at the Grammy Awards.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Peripitus (Talk) 19:52, 29 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure how often you've been reverted about this, but do NOT use all capital letters for people like Jay Z per WP:Manual of Style; we don't use stylizations of names like that. Additionally, don't add people to "associated acts" lists unless they meet one or more of the following:
  1. A group that one was a member of (i.e. Billie Joe Armstrong is a member of Green Day)
  2. A person that one has frequently collaborated with (i.e. Pitbull (rapper) and Enrique Iglesias). Songwriters and producers generally don't count.
  3. A person or group that one has released a collaborative album with (i.e. Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hi there, I'm HasteurBot. I just wanted to let you know that Draft:The Best Is Yet to Come (Bobby Womack album), a page you created, has not been edited in 5 months. The Articles for Creation space is not an indefinite storage location for content that is not appropriate for articlespace.

If your submission is not edited soon, it could be nominated for deletion. If you would like to attempt to save it, you will need to improve it.

You may request Userfication of the content if it meets requirements.

If the deletion has already occured, instructions on how you may be able to retrieve it are available at WP:REFUND/G13.

Hello, BenjaniBoy139. It has been over six months since you last edited your Articles for Creation draft article submission, "The Best Is Yet to Come".

In accordance with our policy that Articles for Creation is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. JMHamo (talk) 21:02, 15 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

HI, I am having a lot of concerns regarding your edits. Could you please talk to me? If not you risk being blocked as WP:NOTHERE. Wikipedia is based on collaboration so a discussion would be good. Qed237 (talk) 23:40, 20 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for responding at my talkpage. The best thing is to talk here and keep the discussion in one place. First of all I wonder, have you read the information about URL and not using bare URL? Qed237 (talk) 10:09, 21 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Also why are you adding every goal to player articles? Please remember that articles are not supposed to be text about every goal they scored and all goals are not notable. Qed237 (talk) 10:14, 21 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Well, because they are the first goals that they scored in the various competitions. Granit Xhaka scored two in four days and they were in different competitions and he is unlikely to score many more. If he scores anymore in the compeition I'm unlikely to add them. I appreciate the interest though, if I'm out of order or anything let me know...

And it continues. Now an other editor has reverted you at Mesut Özil for adding a goal that is not notable (diff). You have to stop doing this. Qed237 (talk) 21:01, 11 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Frank Ocean discography

[edit]

Please don't restore inconsistent implementation of stylisation of Ocean's studio albums to his discography. It's widely accepted that his studio album is titled Blonde and not blond, despite what the cover has it as. There was a dispute over this before (with IP editors in particular changing it from "blond" to "Blonde"), and so to prevent warring over it, the stylisations should be confined to the album pages, so please respect this and do not change them again. Humanz accessdates

[edit]

When you copy references from other pages on Wikipedia, please test the links to see if they still work, and update the accessdates to the date you add them to a new page. Otherwise it demonstrates that you have not verified said information and copied them verbatim from another page without any oversight. You did this at Humanz earlier today. This is dishonest to readers of the page, because quite often, links do go inactive, so test them when adding them elsewhere. Thank you. Ss112 13:25, 19 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Album liner notes trump all in this case. The liner notes credit Mavis Staples as a writer, and don't credit Noel Gallagher or sample usage as writers. If you continue to revert this, I'll look for outside help. I said to go to the talk page, and even started a conversation there, but you're editing against it with no contrary sources.
