[edit]Hello, I'm Davey2010. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Scrap have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Davey2010 Ok, I see where including my name was too much (sorry, used to academic publishing). Other than changing that, I'm not sure what else to do. I conducted research for several years on scrappers and metal thieves (completing my Ph.D. with a dissertation on the subject) and have findings contradictory to current thoughts on the topics as well as defining new concepts and typologies. I included a citation to my book (published with a reputable publisher: [1]) and felt (other than the name thing) I did not violate the rules, but offered counter opinion. Can you give me an idea as to what else I need to do to include the edits? Thanks for the help. Benjaminfs733 (talk) 22:54, 17 October 2017 (UTC)
- Hi, In general we don't include peoples books here so I'm afraid yours can't be added here, Thanks –Davey2010Talk 23:49, 17 October 2017 (UTC)
Davey2010 Again, thank you for the reply, however I am a little confused. This is a scholarly book by a reputable publisher (palgrave macmillian & springer). There is another book cited on the page, and the Wikipedia page: 'Help: Referencing for Beginners' [2] lists books as a Good Resources. Also, the page, 'Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources' says "Material such as an article, book, monograph, or research paper that has been vetted by the scholarly community is regarded as reliable, where the material has been published in reputable peer-reviewed sources or by well-regarded academic presses".
After having spent time reading these pages, the pages you linked in your original message, and working to ensure my edits are neutral. May I submit my edits again with the scholarly citation from a well-regarded academic press? Benjaminfs733 (talk) 00:20, 18 October 2017 (UTC)
