My reply from the Channel Tunnel talk page:

The paragraph reads -
Second tunnel
As of 2005, the British and French governments are investigating the possibility of a second tunnel through the Channel. While no planning has progressed past its feasibility, it is possible that such a project might be a single (wider or taller) tube as tunnel boring technology has progressed significantly over the past two decades.
The governments are bound by the original Treaty to investigate the possibility; they will do nothing and no tunnel will be built. But the para is not inaccurate. If you can point me at the innaccuracy in the para, I'll correct it from primary source documents. ➨ REDVERS 20:17, 20 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the reply. The governments are indeed bound by the original Treaty to investigate the possibility; that they will do nothing and no tunnel will be built is well known within the rail industry but you'd have trouble finding a source to cite making that official and thus useful for the purposes of an encyclopedia. ➨ REDVERS 19:11, 21 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again! You seem to assume that I wrote the Channel Tunnel article, or at least the paragraph about the second tunnel. You are mistaken - whilst I know a lot about the subject (I'm a regular user of the tunnel) and have the article on my watchlist due to its habit of being vandalised by the BNP, I've not written any part of it - just reverted vandalism.
I agree that the paragraph in question could be seen as misleading; but there is no other way of putting it without using weasel words like "many analysts believe...". I've done a thorough search of Google and can find nothing offical to cite that will confirm what everybody in the industry knows in their bones: the second tunnel will not happen.
Because the Treaty requires Eurotunnel plc to provide plans for a second tunnel and also requires the two governments to consider those plans and find someone else to produce those plans if the Eurotunnel plans are unacceptable, neither government is going to admit that the second tunnel won't happen - it's diplomatically difficult to be the first government to admit it as the other will, invariably, point the finger and blame the government that cancels it, whilst being relieved that it was cancelled.
If you're really unhappy with the paragraph, then I suggest that you be bold! and change it. But I guarentee that you won't find a source to cite and you will have to resort to weasel words. But good luck in trying! ➨ REDVERS 15:34, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Could you take a look at this section [1]. I wrote it but my source was one RN cadet training manual and one website, here [2] (to jog my memory). Your edits/suggestions are welcomed for obvious reasons.--ChrisJMoor 02:48, 24 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

User:Clawed has raised an issue regarding the disclaimer given on the Helicopter Pilotage and Hawker Siddeley Harrier pages. You can see our dialogue on his user page. Do you think the disclaimer is worth keeping?

Invitation to Wikipedia meetup in London

Date: 13:00 onwards, Sunday 10 August 2008

Venue: Penderel's Oak pub, Holborn WC1 map

More information: Wikipedia:Meetup/London 12

Hello,

I noticed that you have listed yourself as a Wikipedian in London, so I thought you might like to come to one of our monthly social meetups. The next one is going to be on Sunday 10 August, which might well be rather short notice, but if you can't come this time, we try to have one every second Sunday of the month.

If you haven't been before, these meetups are mainly casual social events for Wikipedia enthusiasts in which we chat about Wikipedia and any other topics we fancy. It's a great way to meet some very keen Wikipedians, but we'd also love for you to come along if you're interested in finding out more about Wikipedia, other Wikimedia projects, or other collaborative wiki projects too.

The location is a pub that is quite quiet and family friendly on a Sunday lunchtime, so hopefully younger Wikipedians will also feel welcome and safe. Alcohol consumption is certainly not required!

Although the meetups are popular, many UK-based editors still don't know about them. It would be great to welcome some fresh faces, so I hope you can come along.

Yours,

James F. (talk) 09:27, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please forgive the slightly impersonal mass-invite!

London Wikimedia Fundraiser

[edit]

Good evening! This is a friendly message from Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry, inviting you to the London Wikimedia Fundraising party on 19th December 2010, in approximately one week. This party is being held at an artistic London venue with room for approximately 300 people, and is being funded by Ed Saperia, a non-Wikipedian who has a reputation for holding exclusive events all over London. This year, he wants to help Wikipedia, and is subsidising a charity event for us. We're keen to get as many Wikimedians coming as possible, and we already have approximately 200 guests, including members of the press, and some mystery guests! More details can be found at http://twiki.riteme.site/wiki/London - expect an Eigenharp, a mulled wine hot tub, a free hog roast, a haybale amphitheatre and more. If you're interested in coming - and we'd love to have you - please go to the ten.wikipedia page and follow the link to the Facebook event. Signing up on Facebook will add you to the party guestlist. Entry fee is a heavily subsidised £5 and entry is restricted to over 18s. It promises to be a 10th birthday party to remember! If you have any questions, please email me at chasemewiki at gmail.com.

Hope we'll see you there, (and apologies for the talk page spam) - Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry (talk) 18:05, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Couldn't help but notice that your picture added to Rollo from Faithless's page was not actually of Rollo, could you change it or take it down? — Preceding unsigned comment added by C0st3ll0 (talkcontribs) 14:51, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Belated reply to your comment of 18:15, 24 December 2005...
