Arbitration

  • Community consultation on the 2017 candidates for CheckUser and Oversight has concluded. The Arbitration Committee will appoint successful candidates by October 11.

Klaus Huber

Thank you for your interest in the composer who just happened to be on my watchlist when he died. Do you know if three-tone tuning is the proper translation of "Dritteltonstimmung"? The German list of works is longer but still marked "Auswahl" (selection). --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:16, 4 October 2017 (UTC)

I have no idea what Dritteltonstimmung or three-tone tuning is, alas - that sort of music is not my area of interest. BencherliteTalk 12:18, 4 October 2017 (UTC)

Hello, Bencherlite. Magnificat and Nunc dimittis for St Paul's Cathedral, an article you either created or to which you significantly contributed, has been nominated to appear on Wikipedia's Main Page as part of Did you knowDYK comment symbol. A tag has been placed on Category:Gibraltarian classical musicians requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. There’s nothing like a patronising tag, is there. CassiantoTalk 13:12, 9 October 2017 (UTC)
A trip down memory lane, that one... years ago I used to categorise classical musicians, and spent a lot of time at CFD in general. So many wasted edits... BencherliteTalk 13:17, 9 October 2017 (UTC)
I think we’re all guilty of wasted edits from time to time. When I think of the time I’ve wasted at ANI it makes me want to cry. CassiantoTalk 13:27, 9 October 2017 (UTC)

Some baklava for you!

Been a while, Bench. Hope all is grand for you. Thanks for all your hard work. ~Kapohogrrl talk 04:46, 18 October 2017 (UTC)

Hello Bencerlite, per your request at WP:BN I have removed your administrator flag. You should become "extended confirmed" on your next edit. If you would like any of the lesser included admin flags (e.g. rollback) please let me know or post at WP:PERM. Happy editing, — xaosflux Talk 17:20, 19 October 2017 (UTC)

That seems a pity. Deb (talk) 11:34, 31 October 2017 (UTC)
Thanks, Deb. BencherliteTalk 21:42, 31 October 2017 (UTC)

ArbCom 2017 election voter message

Hello, Bencherlite. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Miscellaneous

  • Over the last few months, several users have reported backlogs that require administrator attention at WP:ANI, with the most common backlogs showing up on WP:SPI, WP:AIV and WP:RFPP. It is requested that all administrators take some time during this month to help clear backlogs wherever possible. It should be noted that AIV reports are not always valid; however, they still need to be cleared, which may include needing to remind users on what qualifies as vandalism.
  • The Wikimedia Foundation Community health initiative is conducting a survey for English Wikipedia contributors on their experience and satisfaction level with Administrator’s Noticeboard/Incidents. This survey will be integral to gathering information about how this noticeboard works (i.e. which problems it deals with well and which problems it struggles with). If you would like to take this survey, please sign up on this page, and a link for the survey will be emailed to you via Special:EmailUser.

Regarding your edit summary on The Beatles

Hello, Bencherlite, on December 18 you reverted my edit on the article The Beatles and in your edit summary you said that the content I deleted was “Sourced in the body of the article, discuss on talk if you still disagree.” Can you please lead me in the right direction and tell me where in the body of the article the content is sourced? Thank you in advance. Ciceronianclausula (talk) 14:26, 19 December 2017 (UTC)

New Page Reviewing

Hello, Bencherlite.

As one of Wikipedia's most experienced editors,
Would you please consider becoming a New Page Reviewer? Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia policies and guidelines; currently Wikipedia needs experienced users at this task. (After gaining the flag, patrolling is not mandatory. One can do it at their convenience). But kindly read the tutorial before making your decision. Thanks. — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here) 22:10, 25 December 2017 (UTC)

I recently sent you an invitation to join NPP, but you also might be the right candidate for another related project, AfC, which is also extremely backlogged.
Would you please consider becoming an Articles for Creation reviewer? Articles for Creation reviewers help new users learn the ropes of creating their first articles, and identify whether topics are suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia. Reviewing drafts doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia inclusion policies and guidelines; currently Wikipedia needs experienced users at this task. (After requesting to be added to the project, reviewing is not mandatory. One can do it at their convenience). But kindly read the reviewing instructions before making your decision.
