Welcome from Redwolf24

[edit]

Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. We as a community are glad to have you and thank you for creating a user account! Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Yes some of the links appear a bit boring at first, but they are VERY helpful if you ever take the time to read them.

Remember to place any articles you create into a category so we don't get orphans.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, please be sure to sign your name on Talk and vote pages using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, or three tildes (~~~) for just your name. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome.

Redwolf24 The current date and time is 4 November 2024 T 16:27 UTC.

P.S. I like messages :-P

Thanks for the greetings. I've been trying to get the knack of the site, but have been busy working on my prelims for my doctorate to do too much. I try to get what I can get in first, and try to get back on making it "pretty", as it were, later. Thanks for the links.

Order of the amaranth

[edit]

I have now deleted the Order of the amaranth duplicate page, which I found by accident. In future, please use {{db|You'r reason for deletion}} to request a quick deletion of a page. You should read Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion at some point for more details. Have fun with Wikipedia! jni 12:27, 20 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I'm still learning the mechanics of Wikipedia, so thanks for the tip.

...for reverting the Coulter pictures. Now go back and add the fact that she is a constitutional attorney. I have used my 3RR for the day, and can't. At the talk page, I am having to argue that she is one, even though 1] she is broadly referred to as one across the spectrum of the media, and 2] no one outside of WP seems to be disputing it. paul klenk 12:43, 2 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Sure thing. 0922 EST, 2 September 2005

I encourage you to also remove the new "dubious tags." What a load of.... paul klenk 13:52, 2 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Have a WikiProject Louisville Barnstar

[edit]
The Original Barnstar
For all your excellent work in working on Louisville-related articles, including snapping photos for use in some of them. Your dedication to this project and the Wikipedia in general has been inspiring. Cheers! Stevie is the man! TalkWork 01:28, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Cool, thanks.--Bedford 02:21, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Uploaded images

[edit]

Hi. You know I very much appreciate all your work here in the Wikipedia. I just want to request that you spend a little bit of time brightening some of the images you are uploading here. Several images that you have uploaded appear too dark, and many visitors, especially those with visual impairments, will have trouble making them out. This is just a friendly request. Cheers! Stevie is the man! TalkWork 17:07, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I plant to retake the Indiana Reformatory picture, as it was a tad dark. I'm taking the picture from Baird's 1909 book using a 5.2 megapixel digital camera, while in my room. Not sure how much brighter I can get it.--Bedford 17:13, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry. I meant that the images could be brightened in post-production using Photoshop or equivalent software. Hope that helps. Stevie is the man! TalkWork 17:47, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
But I don't have Photoshop. All I have is MS Paint.--Bedford 18:17, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Here's an open-source equivalent: The GIMP -- it's pretty good software. Stevie is the man! TalkWork 18:28, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting article and good start. I list the murder for DYK at Template_talk:Did_you_know#September_2, so we'll see if it makes it. It'd help if you have a reference for it. If Scouting is one of your major wiki interests, please consider joining the Scouting Project. Rlevse 11:48, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was screwed out of attaining Eagle, having to settle with Life rank, so I am still bitter about that even through it's been 18 years, so I don't know if I want to join the Scout WikiProject. However, I did camp at Tunnel Mill for three years, and attended Cub Scout Day Camp before that, so I knew of its importance and all it had to offer.--Bedford 12:18, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There's got to be story to that one. It's too bad that occurred. Thanks for contributing the article.Rlevse 17:01, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, there is a story, and it is too long to go into here. Still, I am going to try to get access to the camp to take pictures and find out more history. SOmeday I want this article to be a featured one.--Bedford 17:25, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Indiana template

[edit]

Hi Bedford,
Nice work on the Indiana project! I was thinking, when you add the template to an article's talk page, how about using the form,
{{WikiProject Indiana|class=|importance=}} ? That way, there will be a little less typing when it's time to enter the ratings. Rfrisbietalk 17:19, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I altered my Templates text file, so for now on I get the current version in. I'll doublecheck the Clark County article and add them to WikiIndiana. I haven't been doign it since they are also under the Wiki-Louisville Project.--Bedford 17:25, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

DYK

[edit]
Updated DYK query On 5 September, 2006, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Tunnel Mill Scout Reservation, which you created. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

--Blnguyen | BLabberiNg 08:29, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

...they put this on my page as I nominated it, but you created it. Rlevse 09:51, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks.--Bedford 14:26, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have moved this discussion over to Talk:Pokagon State Park as you requested. MrHarman 04:26, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Kentuckiana Guide

[edit]

Yeah, that guide is great. It helped me develop a fuller List of attractions and events in Louisville and discover some additional subjects that deserve articles. Perhaps, if you have some time, check out the list article and add other notable things that might be missing. Stevie is the man! TalkWork 01:37, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I plan to, but my main focus is to go up to Charlestown State Park and take pictures insie the park, the Backbone, and of Fourteen Mile Creek. I might also try to find out if I can fill out the new entries I made for the Registered Historic Places around Charlestown.--Bedford 06:38, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds cool. Out of curiosity, I visited the park a couple weeks ago, but couldn't figure out how to get to the backbone, as the bridge across the creek no longer exists. Is there a different entrance to the area that provides access? Stevie is the man! TalkWork 18:05, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
If there isn't, then when I can get access to Tunnel Mill, I'll take picture of the Backbone then.--Bedford 19:57, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Heraldry and vexillology

[edit]

Since you are interested in flags and emblems I would like to inform you that the WikiProject Heraldry and vexillology has just been created. Why not take a look? I hope you can join. Inge 19:19, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know how much I could add, but I'll definitely take a gander. Thansk for the invite.--Bedford 19:57, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Welcome to the project :) Inge 20:08, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Scott County Home

Good point about the marker as source. I have a few photos of markers like that one -- perhaps I'll do the same thing when I happen to have a marker that serves as a decent source. Erechtheus 23:34, 18 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect Bill O'Reilly to Bill O'Reilly (commentator)

[edit]

Hi sorry to bother you but I started a new vote to have 'bill oreilly' routed directly to bill oreilly (commentator) and the current bill oreilly page made teh bill oreilly (disambiguation) page. This vote is taking place at Talk:Bill_O'Reilly#New_Vote_on_Disambiguation_page The previous vote was posted on the Cricket fan activism group to pull votes and so it seems only fair to inform people who might find it convenient to link directly to a page used more often.Mrdthree 07:36, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was more than happy to respond. It's ridiculous that the cricketer got that much prominence.--Bedford 08:07, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Good Point about the cricket dab page. I guess there are worse things than a cabal of cricket fans.Mrdthree 23:20, 25 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Request for neutral party

I have asked Jerseyko, Black Flag, and Rlquall to take a look at the article titled "Neo-confederate". I have listed some of my objections to this article on the Talk page of the article. Your help is also welcomed. Thanks! --Fix Bayonets! 17:22, 26 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

¿Guerra de la Agresión Norteña?

[edit]

Hi, Bedford. Thanks for providing the source for "War of Northern Aggression" as a name for the Mexican-American War. I'm inclined to leave it in the article, but have a concern: The page you saw is the same as the one I saw translated into Spanish. Seems like there's only one mention of the usage on the Internet -- and it cautions that the term is most often applied to the "American Civil War."

If you can remember anything else about the documentary you saw, or find any other source for this, it would be muy bien. Take care. -- Alarob 03:56, 29 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I just email the professor who taught the class; hopefully he can tell me the name of the documentary.--Bedford 05:44, 29 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

rant on Allen talk page

[edit]

With regards to this edit [1] I agree that we a person should not be able to post the same rant over and over again (like he did in the past), but this rant is different and should be allowed to post once. Could you point to where he has stated the same thing because I can't seem to find it. Remember 16:31, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Look at the page history. You'll find him putting the same thing on there before.
I looked at the page history and a history of his edits but I could still not find it. Could you please point me to where he posted the same rant, otherwise I am going to put it back in. Remember 11:33, 4 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Naming the Civil War

[edit]

You have recently edited Naming the American Civil War. I am stepping back from the article for a day or so to avoid an edit war. My request is that you consider stepping in to apply some peer pressure in the interest of civility, NPOV, assuming good faith, etc. It's up to you. -- Alarob 00:01, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Had you seen this?. Do you have an opinion on this matter? I find it interesting that the complainants are themselves frequently culpable of anti-Confederate POV pushing.--Black Flag 18:41, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Louisville growing and changing

[edit]

WikiProject Louisville is sprouting its wings for 2007! We have a new Assessment Department and a much more refined project template. We have nearly 1,000 articles catalogued for our project. And we still have a lot of work to do. We have 500+ articles left to assess for quality, and all our articles, as always, need tender loving care. Please consider dropping by the project and seeing what you might be able to do to move Louisville-related articles forward. Cheers, and Happy New Year! Stevie is the man!
