Thank you for your edits on articles you may not even specialize in. I appreciate them, may you keep editing Wikipedia as you do. Horsegeek(talk) 02:44, 6 January 2017 (UTC) |
Ottawahitech - can you help?
I don't really know where to ask for something to be done about Ottawahitech's editing. If they're doing this after 10 years editing here, I'm not sure there's much hope for improvement. Is there a way to stop them from creating any more articles? World's Lamest Critic (talk) 20:19, 6 January 2017 (UTC)
Starting on the Mexico stuff
Well, I'm starting the clean-out. I'm waiting a little longer on XHDEH/XHCDE because of the RFC, but I've sent six templates to TfD (all by the same user whose specialty has been TV in Chihuahua — no wonder we're so overbuilt, and I've already TfD'd a number of his templates) and AfD'd five articles I discovered on non-notable local TV programs in Juárez (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Arriba Juárez). I had no idea about those and am amazed they've lasted this long on the encyclopedia. Raymie (t • c) 07:16, 7 January 2017 (UTC)
Request for input
Hey there Bearcat, as a regular contributor to helping improve Canadian TV channel articles on Wikipedia, I'd like to invite you to contribute to your input into the discussion taking part on Talk:Gusto (TV channel), regarding the merger of M3 (Canadian TV channel) to the Gusto (TV channel) article. Your input would be appreciated. musimax. (talk) 19:28, 8 January 2017 (UTC)
Deletion of {{Persondata}}
Hi Bearcat,
I'm the bot who is deleting {{Persondata}}. I noticed your edit on Eazzy in which you added {{Persondata}}. This template is deprecated and deleted. Please stop adding {{Persondata}}. In case you want to support the Persondata project you can help with the migration of the dataset to Wikidata at KasparBot's tool. See Wikipedia:Persondata or contact my operator T.seppelt in case you have any questions.
Thank you very much, -- KasparBot (talk) 01:00, 9 January 2017 (UTC)
Garage rock task force
Would you be interested in joining this task force when it is created? We will need someone with as much experience as you to help make this a successful project. It may intrigue you because I am going to push for more Canadian-based garage rock band articles to be created. I am not sure how involved you have been in these projects in the past, but you could also help administrate the page if that interests you. Thank you for your time!TheGracefulSlick (talk) 05:27, 17 December 2016 (UTC)
- Hello again, the task force is up and running here. Please add yourself and feel free to add the userbox available there.TheGracefulSlick (talk) 03:51, 10 January 2017 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of Outro (literary)
The article Outro (literary) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- This is a "definition" of the word and is therefore against policy.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Paine Ellsworth u/c 07:59, 10 January 2017 (UTC)
Inaccurate tag?
(EDIT: Whoops, my mistake, you combined two AfD's into one, and I've replaced the tag.) Hi, and happy new year to you and yours. In doing an extensive italics run on CBC radio shows I came across the two AfD requests, which I commented on, but also came upon an inaccurately directed AfD notice at Deconstructing Dinner, which I've removed. Wanted to let you know in case it should be started up again or anew. Randy Kryn 16:25, 10 January 2017 (UTC)
The best scheme to categorize writers?
There appears to be way too many subcategories for writers: divisions by nationality, by gender, by type of writing (novel vs. short story vs. essays), by century, by language, by ethnicity (and even by regime, such as Category:People's Republic of China novelists that I tried and failed to delete in a CFD discussion). A writer with 1 published work can potentially be categorized into more than 10 different categories the way things are now. I'm thinking, since most novelists also write short stories (isn't the difference just word count?), so isn't it easier to combine the largely overlapping categories of Category:American women novelists and Category:American women short story writers into one Category:American women fiction writers, for example? There's an AFD template on this page that links to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Democracy North. since teh O'Keefe page is primary and otherwise inadequately sourced, I assume that you intended to birng both to AFD?E.M.Gregory (talk) 16:22, 15 January 2017 (UTC)@Bearcat: My error. sorry.E.M.Gregory (talk) 16:45, 15 January 2017 (UTC)
Johnstone with a "t""
Hi. Unusual problem, and certainly I (I may well be the worst typist on Wikipedia) understand how easily this sort of thing happens, but the AFD you started for Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Aaron Johnson (writer) is problematic because it looks as though his name is Johnston. I know that you'll know how to procede ot fixs thhis. cheers.E.M.Gregory (talk) 17:51, 13 January 2017 (UTC)@Bearcat:
- I'm went ahead and moved that AFD to the correct spelling.E.M.Gregory (talk) 18:26, 15 January 2017 (UTC)
I don't know exactly where to go with this, so I thought I'd ask you if you don't mind. This article is a copyvio from Kinney Parking Company. The body is word for word the same, including references, and I don't see any attribution in the history. I believe I could fix that with a dummy edit and explain where it came from in the edit summary. But that would leave several paragraphs of identical text in two places which I think is wrong. I could blank the article and make it a redirect to the section in Kinney Parking Company where it came from (so the incoming links keep working). I could also remove the section in Kinney Parking Company, but that would make a small article even smaller so I'm leaning toward the redirect.
I don't think I would get much response on the talk pages of these articles, or that AFD is the right venue for this. Do you see any reason I should not just go ahead and do this? MB 04:20, 17 January 2017 (UTC)

Robin Meyers
Hello, Bearcat - I was just looking at the latest edits to Robin Meyers, and I wondered about their appropriateness, so I looked in the edit history for an editor who has an interest in the article, and I aw that two other editors who have contributed to the article have not been active in the last six months, but I saw your user name, so I thought I'd ask you. In this edit and the one just previous to it, an IP editor added, then changed, a middle initial for Robin Meyers. I have one of Meyers' books right in front of me, and his name does not show a middle initial. Should there be a middle initial in Meyers' name in the article, and, if so, which one (and why?). – Corinne (talk) 16:49, 1 February 2017 (UTC)
Requests for article creations
Hi Bearcat, I have requested both Wikipedia articles for creation because they have both red links. The two articles are about two current Canadian mayors, The first article is about Tara Veer, the current mayor of Red Deer, Alberta, and Alexandre Cusson, the current mayor of Drummondville, Quebec. I add both requests on the two current Canadian mayors at the Wikipedia:Canadian Wikipedians' notice board/Requests#Politicians and Wikipedia:Requested articles/Biography/By nationality#Canada, so could you go to the Canadian Wikipedians' notice board page and the Wikipedia Requested articles under biography and under Canada. If you see Tara Veer's name and Alexandre Cusson's name both in red links that I have added for the requested articles. Could you create both articles, one is about the current mayor of Red Deer, Alberta Tara Veer and the current mayor of Drummondville, Quebec Alexandre Cusson. Thanks for the message and I hope both articles are going to be created. Thanks. 2001:569:70DD:7500:39EA:19D8:DF90:EF4D (talk) 05:23, 2 February 2017 (UTC)
