Images, WikiProject NASCAR, & WikiProject Wisconsin

[edit]

We should talk about images the next time we get together in person. I still find the image rules confusing after significant reading and having it explained to me.

If your serious about joining these 2 projects then you should add yourself as a participant. You need not necessarily be very active to be a member in a project. Royalbroil 02:54, 4 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

ARCA racers -> ARCA drivers

[edit]

I have nominated that the category "ARCA racers" be renamed "ARCA drivers" in order to be more consistant with other categories like "NASCAR drivers", "American Speed Association driver", etc. Please click here for an explanation of the problem, and a link for you to leave your comments. The problem could significantly affect WikiProject NASCAR. Royalbroil 00:45, 19 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately I probably won't see you in person for Easter. You're wasting your time uploading fair use images. The images experts at wikipedia don't care if articles have images or not. I had an image expert come up with a set of rules for WikiProject NASCAR so that uploaders and image experts stop wasting each other's time. You can find the rules here. I know that they are EXTREMELY limited options, but at least you don't waste your time downloading and then uploading an image that is just gonna get deleted in 7 days (like the Hamlin pic will). Re:Images

[edit]

Sounds like a good idea. Just be sure that they are all eligible for our use. Other than that, go for it. Regards, --D-Day(Wouldn't you like to be a pepper too?) 10:39, 16 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Another reply

[edit]

Looks good to me. Also, I think it might be good organize the categories in alphabetical order. Mind you, I'm OCD about that for some weird reason. I know you're new to the NASCAR project, but you're doing a heckuva job! Keep up the good work! --D-Day(Wouldn't you like to be a pepper too?) 22:40, 16 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Great idea for having an ASA drivers category. I only have a minor change to the ASA drivers list. All the other pages are named in the form "ASA drivers" not "ASA Drivers" - note the lower case on drivers. Would you make that change?
The list should include everyone in Wikipedia that raced in ASA, not just popular NASCAR drivers. So I mean all blue links on the ASA article.
It also might be cool to see a category for World of Outlaws drivers.
I have a list of regional series (some at a similar level to ASA) that I've been thinking about adding - (USAR/Hooters/Slim Jim Pro Series, MARS, Wisconsin Challenge Series, ARTGO, etc.). Do you have any knowledge or information on any of them? Can you think of any that I missed? Royalbroil 01:11, 17 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Another thing, I've been trying to put the awards in the NASCAR infobox in some kind of order of importance to NASCAR. So I would put the ASA award on the Alan Kulwicki article last. I think his NASCAR championship needs to be first, because the reader might only scan the top of the list. Royalbroil 01:20, 17 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I removed Mike Eddy from WikiProject NASCAR since he had no NASCAR starts. He should be able to stand his own without the WikiProject support (if AFD comes up) because he won 7 championships in a major national tour. Royalbroil 03:35, 8 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

ARTGO

[edit]

The exact proposed series name should be used. I think its something like It is NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division, Midwest Series, but look on the WikiProject NASCAR article. Maybe you should make a sandbox under your username (I proposed this: User:Bdman/Sandbox) for making draft articles. I would like to help you make the article. I have some bookmarked links for the series. My sandbox User:Royalbroil/Sandbox has a draft of the USAR Pro Cup series that is nearly read to bring online (once I find out from the WikiProject what to call the article). Royalbroil

Jimmy Spencer

[edit]
  • I notice that you added the ASA Drivers cat to the Jimmy Spencer article. When did he run in that series? I know he was never a regular there, but he may have run a couple of specials over the years. Is that category used only for season-long participants, or is the tag appropriate also for one-time guests? Barno 14:50, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject NASCAR proposed standards

[edit]

WikiProject NASCAR needs your help! We are in the process of forming our proposed standards which, when complete, will hopefully become a Wikipedia guideline. The guidelines will help editors understand Wikipedia consensus about things like which NASCAR-related articles meet notability standards. Please stop by and let us know what you think! Recury 22:38, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please voice your opinion. I came here to make sure that you heard about the standards. Royalbroil 03:49, 18 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

New Holstein

[edit]

I had no idea that there were so many famous people that were from New Holstein. Thanks for adding interesting articles. The Timm House needs an article. It is on the List of Registered Historic Places in Wisconsin, so definitely could be added. Do you have a digital camera that you could take a pic of the house constuction? I will take a pic with my new camera if you don't beat me to it. The destruction and subsequent reconstruction will make for an interesting article. I will eventually do the article if you don't. Royalbroil 03:49, 18 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You can find out the specifics on what camera was used by clicking the image (like the ones that I just placed on the New Holstein, Wisconsin article) and scrolling down to the bottom to the metadata section. I hope that helps. Royalbroil 02:41, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

DYK

[edit]
Updated DYK query Did you know? has been updated. A fact from the article Edward Schildhauer, which you recently created, has been featured in that section on the Main Page. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

You should have been given this box by the DYK admin, so I'll give it to you instead. Congratulations on your first DYK! Royalbroil 00:48, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Userboxes

[edit]

There are pre-made userboxes for sports teams at Wikipedia:Userboxes/Sports/US and Canadian. I highly recommend that you change to them. You definitely need to read Wikipedia:German userbox solution to read about the HUGE controversy in Wikipedia about userboxes. Royalbroil 00:56, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Halbach and Dassey

[edit]

Please write articles for Teresa Halbach and Brendan Dassey. You can just write an article over the top of the Brendan Dassey redirect. Just click the blue on the tiny "Redirect from Brendan Dassey" below Steven Avery's name to edit. There should be zillions of sources available right now for you. I have added the request on WikiProject Wisconsin, but noone is doing it. I would myself, but she was somewhere around my third cousin on my Mom's side according to my grandma. I have an obvious bias, and I know I couldn't write a fair article about either. I have only done a simple non-controversial procedural edit to Steven Avery. --Royalbroil 02:23, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
