Correcting to get to GA

[edit]

You absolutely can correct articles and renominate them. However, I don't think in my opinion that the article is really a good one. There are a number of problems. In particular, some of the prose seems to assume a lot of knowledge on the subject, it isn't well referenced, and it lacks a lot of information about the company and the product lines. It is a good start to an article, but it isn't a good article yet. Cheers, --ScienceApologist 20:21, 11 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, right now the article has no references. There also may be issues with copyright. In particular, some of the information seems to have been taken right off the company's website. Unless you get express permission from the company to do this, we cannot include such things in Wikipedia. --ScienceApologist 20:23, 11 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also, every image on the page is licensed as a logo, but three of them clearly are not. This would be an interesting page once it's fleshed out more, I used to use Vandoren clarinet reeds, but I don't know too much about the company. --Pagrashtak 20:29, 11 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the criticisms : ) About the images, I wasn't sure what to license them under. Since they were all basic product images (I got them off Amazon.com), I assumed legally, they were similar to logos. If you have any suggestions, that would be great.
Thanks, Bcem2 20:38, 11 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You can browse the list of image copyright tags for a more appropriate one. If the image was made by Vandoren, I think it would qualify for {{promotional}}. --Pagrashtak 20:45, 11 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You didn't need to upload duplicate images, you just had to change the licensing on the original images (which I've just done). I've marked the duplicates for speedy deletion. --Pagrashtak 21:46, 11 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bath School Disaster

[edit]

Thanks for adding the "good" link. The capitalization was how I found the article. I would note that virtually all the articles and other materials capitalize the three letters, somehow I think this was an expression of the magnitude that caught on. I should add that I do not know how to change the capitalization on the article name. Is there any way to do that without having to create an entirely new article? Thanks for any info. Jtmichcock 04:28, 12 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the link. I figured out how to do it. Since the Peer Review is a subpage and I don't want to toss the comments made, I will revise to "Bath School disaster" when it's ready for FAC. Per Wikipedia, since the school itself had grades 1-12, the S should still be capitalized in front of School since the name of the building was Bath School. Note that the other schools (a multitude of high schools) all capitalize school. Jtmichcock 04:51, 12 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-automated template substitution

[edit]

I have no idea what you are talking about with the semi-automatic template sub, I don't see it on your userpage.

I checked your userpage and I don't see any edits, I know I was running a semi-automatic replacement program to add subst: do a bunch of warnings, I don't see it on your page. As for the IP, my system won't work without being logged in so I have no idea there. Tawker 01:44, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Rovnerclarinetlig.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Image legality questions page. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 12:32, 2 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your request in February for peer review

[edit]

Hello. I noticed that back in February you added an article to the category "Requests for peer review". This is not the correct way to request a peer review (perhaps you are wondering why there has been no feedback). If you would still like a peer review, please go to the peer review page and follow the instructions there under "nomination procedure". If you have already done so, and this advice is too late, then sorry for troubling you! (Vandoren looks a very nice article by the way!) Regards, RobertGtalk 14:07, 4 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Possibly unfree Image:Patrick J. Frawley

[edit]
An image that you uploaded or altered, Image:Patrick J Frawley.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images. If the image's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. Please go to its page to provide the necessary information on the source or licensing of this image (if you have any), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Hi, please remember that {{web-screenshot}} is for pictures of websites, not pictures you find on a site. And you have not given a fair use rationale for the image. Ytny 03:20, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Shawn Green.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Shawn Green.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Mosmof 01:18, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Bolling Album Art.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Bolling Album Art.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you.
