Promotion

[edit]

Please stop using Wikipedia to promote your school. This series of edits restored overly promotional language that I had already previously removed. Please do not restore such language without at least opening a discussion at Talk:Bayugan National Comprehensive High School. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 13:17, 1 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Bayuganon editor. You have new messages at Bayuganon editor's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

I didn't write the whole 'promotional language' you previously removed. I was editing that portion (view history) when you suddenly changed something. Unfortunately, those I edited and I wrote were not saved and/or reflected in the history. It might have been due to the slow internet connection I had.

I am new to Wikipedia and still learning things.

By the way, am I doing this correctly? Bayuganon editor (talk) 20:25, 15 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Username

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the username you have chosen (Bayuganon editor) seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of a group, company or website.

There are two issues with this:

  1. It is possible that you have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, you must exercise great caution when editing on topics related to your organization or adding links to its website.
  2. Your account cannot represent a group of people. You may wish to create a new account with a username that represents only you. Alternatively, you may consider changing your username to avoid giving the impression that your personal account is being used for promotional purposes.

Regardless of whether you change your name or create a new account, you are not exempted from the guidelines concerning editing where you have a conflict of interest. For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. My username does not imply that I am editing on behalf of a group, company or website. 'Bayuganon' simply means that I was from Bayugan.

Anyway, I'll try changing my username.

Continued problems

[edit]

Thank you for the brownie. But that does not excuse the blatant promotion you are adding to the Bayugan National Comprehensive High School article. This series of edits restored content that is a copyright violation of the school's home page and of their school song and prayer. (Such content, even if not explicitly copyrighted, is implicitly copyrighted if not explicitly released to public domain.) As your obvious conflict of interest with this subject has already been pointed out, you should cease editing the article because it is clear that you are not able to maintain a neutral point of view on the topic. Hello, Bayuganon editor. You have new messages at Your username's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

Again, I was editing the 'promotional language' written by someone else by the time you were removing things. I restored the previous versions but it seems that my version was not saved.

If my version of the page was saved, it would've been the proof my neutrality. But since it wasn't, I can't defend my self as of the moment.

However, I will not cease editing the page since I know the school and the place. I am planning to write about other schools in the area for your information. I'm just busy at the moment.

Thank you for reminding me about the Intellectual Property Rights.

February 2012

[edit]

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to blank out or remove portions of page content, templates or other materials from Wikipedia, as you did at Iglesia ni Cristo, you may be blocked from editing. Elizium23 (talk) 19:47, 14 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

The portion of the page I deleted was the portion which was not verified. The Iglesia ni Cristo has not announced their withdrawal to President Aquino. It was only a rumor. People reading the article might believe it.

Invitation to wikiFeed

[edit]

Hello Bayuganon editor,

I'm part of a team that is researching ways to help Wikipedia editors find interesting content to contribute to Wikipedia. More specifically, we are investigating whether content from news sources can be used to enhance Wikipedia editing. We have created a tool, called wikiFeed, that allows you to specify Twitter and/or RSS feeds from news sources that are interesting to you. wikiFeed then helps you make connections between those feeds and Wikipedia articles. We believe that using this tool may be a lot of fun, and may help you come up with some ideas on how to contribute to Wikipedia in ways that interest you. Please participate! To do so, complete this survey and follow this link to our website. Once you're there, click the "create an account" link to get started.

For more information about wikiFeed, visit our project page. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask via my talk page, or by email at wikifeedcc@gmail.com. We appreciate your time and hope you enjoy playing with wikiFeed!
